Dr_PepPeR
Apollo Lunar Lander before - almost 3 decades ago. hehehe I actually remember doing the Saturn V Booster with the Apollo 11 or earlier payload. But that was in the early 70s and was about 3 feet tall. Well, it looked 3 feet tall at my age. Quote Link to comment

I tried using acrylic - bought in small jars in arts supply stores, but the paint was too thick and dull. The model looked better unpainted. Hmmm. Is that the reason why I have a stash of paint now? Regarding that Revell Lunar Lander Diorama kit, buti na lang white yung plastic nung module at astraunauts, tapos grey yung base. Gumamit lang ako ng gold foil at kaunting black paint (utang sa kaibigan), maganda na. I remember saving 4 months for it. Quote Link to comment

You can try Special Toys or maybe you can get them online. Just an update on my what-if Abrams, I got it decalled and gloss coated with Johnson's Wipe and Shine. Next step would be glazing and pin washes. I lost a few parts when the model was accidentally sideswiped by the wife. Quote Link to comment

As what Dr Pepper mentioned, Revell reissued several kits. It might be grouped together with the Space kits (Star Wars, Star Trek, Battlestar Gallactica, and would you believe they have Eagles from Space 1999??? Bwahahaha my age is showing!). Best bet would be their main store in Tetuan, Sta Cruz. According to other sources, the kit has been reissued:http://www.cybermodeler.com/hobby/kits/rm/kit_rm_6060.shtml My Lunar Lander kit got bashed- I used the parts for a school project. hehehe Natuwa yung teacher. Boelcke
Doc, Is that a Taiwanese Abrams? Cool! I admit, Ive never seen one before. Quote Link to comment
Dr_PepPeR
Doc, Is that a Taiwanese Abrams? Cool! I admit, Ive never seen one before. You may never see one ever sir, it's strictly a what-if MBT. Right now Taiwan's MBTs are M60s and M48s but wouldn't it be cool if Taiwan got some Abrams? I took off the bustle since I don't see Taiwanese tanks with much stowage anyway. Quote Link to comment
Boelcke
Yeah, I looked it up after seeing your project, and I came up with only M-60s, M-48s and overhauled M-41s. Thats a really great concept, though. I read that Taiwan really wanted to get their hands on the M-1s. Looking forward to your project, Doc! Btw, I also tremendously enjou doing what-ifs. Ive built Phil Air Force F-16, F-20 and a Gripen before. One of these days Ill post some pics here. Quote Link to comment

Ive built Phil Air Force F-16, F-20 and a Gripen before. One of these days Ill post some pics here. Thanks for the encouragement Herr Boelcke. There's one project I've been meaning to do. I have an old 1/48 Academy F-5B that I want do build as a Phil. AF three-camo scheme two holer. I compared it with Italeri's 1/48 F-5A and it looks a bit undersized. Anyway, all the pics that I've seen of the three-camo scheme PAF birds are F-5As. Were any PAF F-5Bs painted this way? Otherwise, it's going to be another what-if for me. Looking forward to seeing your what-ifs PAF jets. Wouldn't it be cool if the PAF decided to get some Flankers as their new jets? Quote Link to comment
Boelcke
Doc, First things first- Flankers for the PAF would be truly awesome! Anyway, the PAF had at least two F-5Bs wearing the four (not three) color camo scheme. One, Serial No. 13380 (one of the oldest F-5s in PAF inventory; Ive built at least 4 kits of this bird, hence Ive memorized the serial), wore the dark green/green/tan/gray undersides scheme that was common sight in the 90s. This plane actually was a part of the Blue Diamonds then. The other F-5B (serial ends in "991" if memory serves me right) wore the classic SEA (ala Vietnam USAF colors, or close to it) camo. This was a former Taiwanese bird, given to the PAF in exchange for a P-51 displayed in the PAF Museum. Edited July 9, 2008 by Boelcke Quote Link to comment
Boelcke
Heres something I made years ago. A what-if PAF Gripen. Dont you just wish we had something as modern as this? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v421/Buck/eyePAFgripen.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v421/Buck/rearPAFgripen.jpg Quote Link to comment
