Computer Troubleshooting And Repair

Recommended Posts

I have a netgear wg111 usb wireless adapter for my deskstop (p4/motherboard circa 2002/winxp). After a month it start behaving erratically, from time to time it stopped working and that my PC don't recognize/ detect my USB (even if the driver is already loaded). The adapter works fine with my laptop.

Apparently it is a common problem for this product but Iam still wondering what's causing the problem. I can't return the product and that the compny's website is no help either (same question was posted on their site but so far no clean cut answer).

Your help will be very much appreciated.

to check if it is the device which has a problem, try to test it using a different laptop. if the same problem persists, then you do not have any choice except to get a new WLAN adapter.

another problem:

the pc won't boot after a long time being off.

but after a few on/off cycles, it will successfully boot.

what gives?

question... how long have you encountered this? have you installed a software/an application prior to this instance?

my suspect is a DLL conflict.

the monitor display changes brightness (and colors too) during use.

is this a sign of a bad vc or monitor?

thanks in advance!

its both a sign of either.

how long have you been using both components?

have you tried using your monitor on a different CPU with same results? if it is, then its your monitor, otherwise, its your VC.

i don't think its software-related.

what puzzles me is that if the cpu has been on for a long time it would boot.

if it starts from a "cold state" then the problem presents itself again.

corrupt Win XP installation. try to do a repair using your XP CD. probably caused by a virus, a worm, a spyware or electrical fluctuation.

webmaster pano po b mgdelete sa command prompt?

DEL [/P] [/F] [/S] [/Q] [/A[[:]attributes]] names
ERASE [/P] [/F] [/S] [/Q] [/A[[:]attributes]] names

names Specifies a list of one or more files or directories.
Wildcards may be used to delete multiple files. If a
directory is specified, all files within the directory
			will be deleted.

/P Prompts for confirmation before deleting each file.
/F Force deleting of read-only files.
/S Delete specified files from all subdirectories.
/Q Quiet mode, do not ask if ok to delete on global wildcard
/A Selects files to delete based on attributes
 attributes	R Read-only files S System files
H Hidden files A Files ready for archiving
			- Prefix meaning not

If Command Extensions are enabled DEL and ERASE change as follows:

The display semantics of the /S switch are reversed in that it shows
you only the files that are deleted, not the ones it could not find.

i hope this helps. :)

Install Windows Media Player 11 Without WGA Check

Windows Media Player 11 is the latest version of Windows built-in media player that is available for both Windows XP and Windows Vista platform. It offers great new ways to store and enjoy all your music, video, pictures, and recorded TV.

In addition to the need of having Service Pack 2.0 installed, you also need to pass the Genuine Windows Validation test to download the latest player. Now, the question is how to install Windows Media Player 11 without having to go through the long validation process?

Here’s the answer. (This post is for information or educational purposes only!)

1st Method: Using altered WMP11 setup file

1. Download WMP11 here.

2. Install WinRAR program if you haven’t and right click on the setup file.

3. Choose “extract here”. This means all file in the distribution will be extracted to let you install the software.

4. Open the folder. Click on the file “wmfdist11″ to install all the stuff. Next, make sure that you reboot your computer (important!).

2nd Method: Replace the Windows Legitimate Check’s file manually

1. Download the “original” Windows Media Player 11 here.

2. Install WinRAR program if you haven’t and right click on the setup file. Extract as usual.

3. Open the folder. Make sure that you have “LegitLibM.dll” file in the extracted folder.

4. Download this patch and replace the original “LegitLibM.dll” file with the patch. Run setup_wm.exe to install the media player and reboot your computer.
