Boys and Girls... A Mac to drool for

Quad-Core G5 Processing

With two dual-core processors, at speeds up to 2.5GHz per core, the Power Mac G5 Quad doubles the punch of its dual-processor predecessor. Do the math: Quad-core processing means four Velocity Engines and eight double-precision floating-point units for blistering performance of up to 76.6 gigaflops. That means you can manipulate mountains of images or miles of footage. Crunch enormous data sets. Encode HD video or high-bit-rate audio. All at speeds you never imagined possible.

I wonder who'll buy a unit like that from me. hehehehe

@In_style, Do not get the iSight. You can only use it with iCHat. You can't use it with YM.

I beg to disagree bro. I'v been using 2 isights with Yahoo Messenger on my ibook G4 and iMac G5. It works preety well. iSight will not work with iChat if your internet connection is slower that 100kpbs and no other webcam will work with iChat unless you have the third party apps.

You can check the local Mac User Group Threads regarding iSight and YM

thanks for your replying about my query on a webcam.

will check our my options and keep an open mind about it.

thanks again.

If you have a Firewire DV cam you can use it as a webcam too.

Thanks Dreamreaper.

Something must be wrong with my configuration last time. hehe

Check if all your iSight firmware is updated. :)

Just wondering, what do you use computers for?

hmmm, honestly?

downloading porn? no just kidding, la lang typical, word processing, photoshop, excel, etc...

but do like to dabble in video editing and others, no big user, but what causes my apprehension is the compatibility issues of macs to MS applications and software...

also, i'm generally turned off with proprietary peripherals, simple things like P2500 Mac mouses and web cams only for macs doesn't really endear me to it...

my linux engineer buddy keeps telling me it's more stable, not subject to viruses, but honestly havent' really had any problems...

so tell me guys, why macs?

First and foremost “pogi points”. No one can deny that Macs are eye-candies. The power of the design is in it’s simplicity. From the pristine white iBooks and iMacs to the industrial PowerBooks and Power Macs.

Your Linux buddy is right. Macs are more stable machines than it’s PC counterparts. That’s why 80% of the hardcore and professional video editors, graphics engineers and audio engineers use Macs. Toy Story which shook the world of animation was created by Pixar using Macs.

For your basic processing needs, Microsoft Office for Mac is available which is fully compatible with MS Office for Windoze. Most commonly used third party applications also have their Mac counterparts. Just in case there are none, there are Mac softwares which can do the same job better.

There is a misconception that Macs and its accessories are expensive. Yes, high-end Macs do come with big price tags but so do high-end PCs. Ibooks and Mac Mini’s are great machines with a great value for its price. Mac are not snobbish when it comes to accessories. Yes there are Apple Mouse do cost 2500php and PCs have a 7000php laser mouse. You don’t need to buy these babies. I personally use a CDR King portable retractable mouse which I got for 280php and it works like a charm. These accessories are tools for hardcore professional users and luxuries for the average user.

I was personally a Windoze PC fanatic. I use to have e-Cube bare bone form-factor, H2O cooled systems the works and I even considered a fully liquid submerged system but when I switched to Mac I know I’m not going back. My PC system now runs on Linux

My advice is to get your hands on a Mac and personally get a feel of the machine.

Consider the following Macs:

iBook 12" G4

1.33GHz

512MB

40GB HDD

Combo Drive

APX(Wifi)

Bluetooth

1,000USD

Mac mini G4

1.25GHz

512MB RAM

40Gb HDD

Combo Drive

499USD

ps: all the women and men uses Macs  :goatee:

Being an eye-candy is just a big bonus. Bottom line, Macs are great machines. I would rather have a Toyota Sprinter which can burn a quartermile in less than 10sec than a 10 sec owner type jeep with practicaly the same price.

I use a bunch of chipipay things, A4tech wireless mouse and keyboard, a 250php CDR King Mouse, HP3500 Deskjet printer, USB Keyboard, PS2 Keyboard, RF Presentation Controller and any digital camera without even installing any drivers.

Our group does not advocate piracy but just to answer your question, yes there are pirated software out there.

I switched because i wanted a satble machine and a better operating system. The last time i turned off my 'book was 3 months ago and i cant even remember when was the last time i had to reboot my system (except when i need to when i update my software).

If you are really considering to SWITCH, keep your mind open. If your happy with Windoze then stick with it. But let me tell you bro, once you go Mac, you'l never go back to Windooooooozzzzzzzeeeeee.. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!
