How Do Filipinos View Balikbayans?

Recommended Posts

Here's my analysis of OFW's plight.

First 4 years -- Struggling

From 5-8 years - Settling

From 9-12 years - Stabilizing

So next time you see an OFW, ask them how long have they been working abroad. If less than 13 years, hirap pa yan. :) :)

pero meron din ibang di lumampas ng struggling eh. naubos lang din yung kinita

balikbayans? from my own personal experiences its been a mix of positive and negative. some people seem friendly about it while others seem to harbor some animosity if a person is a balikbayan. how do you view balikbayans.

by the way ...im 27, born in the PI but moved to the US when i was 6.

well if you grew up there, I rarely have any thing against balikbayans. The balikbayans I hate are those who moved there when they were in their late 20's then umiwi after 2 years (may green card na). then pagbalik ditto kunwari di na marunong magtagalog or nagbubulul bululan mag tagalog. I hate those kind of balikbayans

kaasar nga yun kasi 2 years lang nakalimutan na kaagad magtagalog. yung iba nga na dun na lumaki pinipilit magtagalog ng derecho tapos sila 2 years lang nakalimot na kaagad

I had relatives who were former OFWs or are OFWs at the moment. For them, when they get back here, ramdam mo na miss-na-miss nila ang closeness (geographically and emotionally) ng kapamilya. Yun lang, may mga nandito naman na kamaganak o kaibigan na ang tingin sa kanila ay ATM machine.

Mos, if not all, Filipino immigrants that I personally know... when they go back here for a visit, their down to earth naman.
