spitzky
well the sad thing is, ab crunches simply dont burn enough calories.... they will mess up ur spine faster than giving u a 6-pack... and although the argument behind muscle fiber types is quite sketchy and heavily debated, its had been shown that abdominal muscles respond better to heavy loads and low reps (coz ab muscles are mostly fast-twitch)..... pugadbaboy
The usual ab exercise pero ingat ka dahil nga kung mali ang gawa mo eh masama sa spine. Actually leg raises are not that effective kasi half of the work is done by the legs. But depende sa tao - kung nafefeel mo yung burn sa abs mo using leg raises - then go for it. Ako ang personal favorite ko eh yung weight machine na pag naglean forward ka eh may weight resistance. Using this I can go for 6-10 reps using weights from 70 - 100 pounds. Yung crunches kasi - nauuna pa ako mabore kesa mapagod yung abs ko. Kung totoo man yong post about Cesar Montano - nagagawa lang nya yung 100 upside-down crunch nya kung andoon si Sunshine at sumasayaw o something I mean c'mon - 100 crunches - too boring. Anyway, the most important thing to realize is that sometimes - ok na ang ab muscles mo pero nacocover lang ng fat. So do your aero exercises plus diet - aerobics, basketball, jogging, cycling - para maburn ang fats and mareveal ang six-pack mo. Bottomline - just treat your abs just like any other muscle that you train - like other routines - if you can do more than 20 reps - that exercise is pretty useless - kulang na sa intensity. Then add some aero exercises to burn excess fat. Quote Link to comment

batibut
In my old gym, may ginagamit ako pang abs exercise. You're hanging pero nakatukod yung arms while gripping two rods. Pa-L yung position ng arms and then you lift your legs up. Hirap i-explain! It really helped me tone my tummy. kaya lang wala nun sa new gym ko. i've actually been looking in the gym equipment stores for it. super effective kasi isolated talaga chan muscles mo. plus no strain on your back. although, your neck and shoulder muscles may hurt a bit kasi they carry your body weight. wonder if you can have it custom-made? (google, help!) hehehe.. di ko rin kabisado yun tawag though ginagawa ko rin yan sa gym.. di ba nakatayo ka tapos you raise your knee up to your tummy? This is really very effective.. pero sis, pwede mo naman gawin yun leg raise (while nakahiga flat on your back) kung wala ka ng equipment na to.. pareho din ang effect. Quote Link to comment

batibut
BC & Google, ito nakasabit ka e, so your legs are hanging tapos iaangat mo....actually nakakabit lang siya dun sa mga hydraulic machines na pang workout ng arms....weird nga e. Quote Link to comment
spitzky
yep it is called a roman chair... but u really cant compare the muscle recruitment of the hanging leg raise to the reverse crunch... depending on wat u read, its either the hanging version hits the lower abs better or u make use of a certain leg muscle too much to gain any quick benefits... try both to find out then... however, exercise alone cant trim down ur waistline... u gotta watch wat u eat... thats d price u have to pay for getting fit <_ Quote Link to comment
spitzky
yep, nothing beats an intense session of basketball, soccer, swimming... crunches are simply BOOORING Quote Link to comment
