  1. Here’s another great find in Antipolo. A nice and homey restaurant located in the heart of Antipolo. A nice restaurant simply called LAYA. It’s in the area where you can find Vieux Chalet and Callospa. When we went there LAYA was still offering their Lucky 2010 5-course menu. This menu includes:

Spiced Tuna Tartare on Crispy Wontons for appetizers – for raw tuna lovers!

Soup was Thai Tomato Basil Soup with Shrimp Dumplings & Cilantro Foam – This one is very good!

For salad, Deconstructed Asian Caesar Salad with Ginger Garlic Aioli – love the different approach to presenting and eating Ceasar Salad. Wifey loved the dressing!

Four the Main Course, My wife had Hoisin Baked Norwegian Salmon with Soba Noodles, Shiitake Mushrooms and Sesame Scallion Salad and she enjoyed it very much.

Mine was Red Curry Glazed Pork Loin Roast with Roasted Onions & Pumpkin Basmati Rice. I’m not really into curry dishes so this was ok for me.

And now for the best part – Dessert! Bananas in Thai Coconut Pancake with Mantecado Ice Cream & Latik Sauce. I would have to admit, this made my day. I wonder what brand of Latik Sauce they are using but it is certainly one of the best Latik I’ve ever tasted. Love the combination of the Mantecado Ice Cream and Latik also.

All that for P650.00/per person. The menu comes with Laya’s signature Pandan Ice Tea (refillable) and fresh organic tea or organic barako coffee.

Overall it was a fabulous treat. Food was great, the ambiance superb! Service was very good as well. So, if I were you, put LAYA in your Food Trip itineraries. You will not regret it.

If you’re planning to go there, be sure to make an advance reservation. Weekends are usually booked as early as Wednesday.

  2. Back in the early days of the web, there were a few well-publicized efforts to see if it was possible to live solely through an online connection.

Proving much easier than anticipated, shopping online’s only gotten bigger and better since. For consumers, shopping online can be extremely convenient. Stores are open all the time with huge selections and low prices. Goods can be easily located, prices compared, manuals downloaded, product information reviewed, and items purchased easily and quickly, including shipping. And all this can be done while you’re still in your bathrobe at home.

There is a downside too. There’s no opportunity to directly interact with the product, no sensual gratification. There’s little personal

interaction with the merchant. And despite the instant thrill of purchase, there is an inevitable wait for delivery, and shipping can sometimes

eliminate any savings. Returning goods through the mail can be a hassle as well. Even so, online shopping is here to stay.

  3. I Wanna Grow Old With You - Adam Sandler

    I wanna make you smile,

    Whenever you're sad.

Carry you around when your arthritis is bad.

    All I wanna do,

    Is grow old with you

    I'll get you medicine,

    When your tummy aches.

Build you a fire if the furnace breaks.

    It would be so nice,

    Growin' old with you

    I'll miss you, kiss you

Give you my coat when you are cold.

    Need you, feed you.

I'll even let you hold the remote control

So let me do the dishes in our kitchen sink

Put you to bed when you've had too much to drink

Oh I could be the man,

    Who grows old with you

I wanna grow old with you.

  5. +1 vote for Lemuria

LEMURIA is the hottest romantic place these days (saying this with conviction) and I'm glad to share this word-of-mouth secret with you. Of course, we don't want this place to be too crowded (would we?) because it would lose its mysticism and the fact that it can only accommodate 20+ people.

It is owned by Marina Bru Schroeder also known as Kitt who decided to convert her convenient office space for Brumms Quality Wines, Inc. into a cozy and romantic restaurant. She makes it a point to talk to each and every one of the customers dining during that night. It is located in the winery compound owned by the Aboitiz family in Horseshoe Village. It sits on top of one of the biggest wine cellars I've seen in the metro containing an extensive variety of wines filled up to 1/3 of its holding capacity of 27,000+ wines. Her German husband, Klaus Schroeder was kind enough to give us a tour of the cellar which houses german, romanian and austrian wines among others. It serves mediterranean cuisine cooked by Chef Golda-May Ranada who is ex Beluga and Le Souffle Chef ( that is all I know and I was hoping some of you would know more). I was hoping to talk to Chef Golda to give my compliments and to know more about her but unfortunately I was not able to do so.

  6. The key word is DEVELOP:

Rajko Toroman is one of the best basketball coaches in the whole world.

    He is also human.

He has forgotten that: The SBP Gilas program is a developmental program.

All the players in the Gilas program were personally hand-picked by him. To be developed as team members of the Philippine men's national basketball team. That is not happening anymore.

If he wanted the professional players to eventually play in the national team, then he should have hand-picked the professional players he wanted from the start.

If you want to build an efficient, magnificent, delightful vehicle (a car, perhaps?) -- then you must plan, revise, execute and test that vehicle. You will get high-quality parts and you will expect those parts to perform.

You DO NOT replace already running parts with sub-standard or un-tested parts.

Once the vehicle that you've built appears to be running already, you will come to the conclusion that you must still make some revisions. Sometimes, you will want to remove some parts that you've observed is not helping the vehicle to achieve its fullest potential.

At a certain point, major parts must be revised -- or removed.

There may even be a point where the visionary of the "vision" must be removed. If only to achieve the dream, the vision.

Unless, of course, we just want to build a jeepney.

If everything fails (with all efforts and means exhausted), then it's not really for us- that's the time we should redirect or streamline our vision.
