I am always amaze with the operation of YABU. It seems that they do things right. What needs to be hot is hot and what needs to be cold is cold. The cleanliness of the place is almost impeccable in spite of the fact that they are doing a lot of volume. The condiment containers are always sparklingly clean. What needs to be fresh is always fresh like the shredded cabbage and even their complimentary fruit desserts. The cooking oil is always rancid free and fresh. The price is still very reasonable for the quality they provided. Service and wait staffs are always on their toes. To top it off, its a home grown, locally conceived franchise.

Actually, ako ay FORK and KNIFE pag everyday dining. I use CHOPSTICKS when eating Japanese, Chinese or even most Southeast Asian food. I definitely use my hand if partaking on Pizza, Fried Chicken like KFC and casual eating of Filipino food specially Seafood's like shrimps, shellfish, oysters, etc.
Did you know that using your SPOON and FORK in dining or eating in some POLITE societies is a TABOO? There was onetime a big issue in Canada about this. The Filipino community in Canada raised a huge protest about the case of a grade school Filipino boy who recently immigrated to Canada who was reprimanded and castigated and shamed by his white Canadian teacher for eating his lunch with a SPOON and FORK because the teacher said that food should never be SHOVELED into ones mouth. Oh boy, that was a big issue in the Canadian Filipino community.
Using your hands to eat is practiced in many cultures. However there is a general rule. Eat with your RIGHT hand only and never with your LEFT. The left hand is only used for cleaning yourself.
Since we are already on this topic, have you heard about the Filipino employee in the USA who was castigated by his boss because he brought a TABO in the CR? Hehehehe.........this issue maybe inappropriate and very off tangent from this topic. LOL.

Listening to The Cruzettes at the Manila Hotel TAP ROOM.
Or Bong Penera at the Hyatt Bar.
We produced a show at the Meralco Theater featuring THE MUSIC MAKING MACHINE of Gary Lising, emceed by Maan Hontiveros. I remember Gary Lising was a gag writer for the comedian Bob Hope. He together with Ariel Ureta, Nanette Inventor aka Donya Buding, Mitch Valdez were the high brow comedy act of that era.

can someone identify this building in Makati http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k144/nostalgiamanila/fans/ev_mysterybldg1.jpg
Better late than never.
This building was the Sarmiento Building in the early 70s. I used to work in the bank right there in the corner, the bank was the PCIB or the Philippine Commercial & Industrial Bank. The president of PCIB then was Mr. Ray Orosa. The head office of PCIB was on T.M.Kalaw St. In Ermita. The building on the right most of the picture was the Rufino Building.

In the movie THE KINGSMEN, the guy named his dog JB. His handler asked him whether the JB stood for James Bond or Jason Bourne. He answered neither. The JB stood for Jack Bauer of 24. LOL

BOON TONG KEE at Rockwell still churns up very good Chinese standard dishes like, sweet sour pork, glazed beef ribs, steamed white chicken, the sauteed seafood in taro basket, the battered shirmps. I think their style of cooking is the Singapore street food cuisine. Eating here is always very satisfying.

no. ok dito sa pinas. maraming oppurtunity. sa ibang bansa puro matatalino mga tao, hirap makipag competensiya. dito kaunti lang matatalino, mas mabilis umakyat ng ladder.
Ang sabi nga nila, the white guy will work for a buck for his job, for that same job, the Pinoy will work for half a buck, the Chicano will work for a quarter, the Chinese will work for a dime, ohhhh the Vietnamese will take it for a nickel gladly and the Black guy will not take the job but will take all the money. Note: This is just a joke and does not represent my own views about racism and racial bigotry. Sorry if anyone is offended.
But to have a counter to the opinion above, sometimes it is also very rewarding to compete with the best of them because you can say that you have proven to yourself that you can survive anywhere. To paraphrase a song---"....if I can make it THERE, I can make it ANYWHERE......"

I am a person who have lived half of his life in a foreign country. So I can say that I've been there and done that. And I am back in the Philippines probably for good. And all I can say is that there is no place like home---The Philippines even with all it's warts and shortcomings.

I had lunch today at SHANG PALACE at Makati Shangrila and availed of their Kung Hei Fat Choi buffet special. The food selection was quite disappointing.

Cafe Mediterranean at Rockwell reasonably priced at about 350 to 450 for the meat main dishes. Good place to wile your time and eat "al fresco" style inside the mall somewhere in Istanbul.

I stayed at ARUGA in the Rockwell area for two months. It's more of a full service apartment with all the amenities of a four or five star hotels. It has two bedrooms, living & dining rooms plus a kitchenette and laundry facilities. They also provide all the things that you will need to entertain such as china service and silverwares with cloth napkins included. It's very convenient since it is only across the Rockwell Plant Mall. There is even an underground passage to the mall for their guests.
