  1. I read somewhere that there is a Thai restaurant near the Marikina Public Market that is owned by a Thai emigre married to a Filipina. The Thai chef who owns the place is also the one who handles the food preparation for the Thai Embassy social functions. The restaurant is reputed to be very good and very reasonable. The biggest problem only is that it is in Marikina and it is located I guess in the wrong side of the tracks.

Btw, anyone cares to start a Vietnamese restaurant thread.

  2. Can someone start a thread about FORTUNE TELLERS, MANGHUHULA, SEERS, PALM READERS, TEA LEAF READER, CARD READERS, TAROT READERS, CRYSTAL BALL READERS?

I had experienced manghuhula in the past. He was right on the money about my past, present and future. It was also very specific and not generalities about names, places, situations, events, etc. It was uncanny, eerie and scary but at the same time very entertaining. This happened about 20 years ago so that his future predictions then had already come to pass or would still happen. Very scary, eerie and uncanny feeling. He was known as the Radio Boy because he could talk long distance over an UNHOOKED OR DISCONNECTED telephone. His style was he would go into trance and would talk really fast, spouting your past, present and future. You should be ready to take notes of what he would be telling you. After the session, he would not remember anything about what he said. He told me that he was just acting as the medium of the "little people" that were talking to him. What made him believable was because he could tell you about your PAST as well as your PRESENT in specifics. Regarding your FUTURE you just have to take it with a grain of salt. From what I have heard is that he is no longer around.

  3. SARIWON at the Fort serves very good Kalbi, Bulgogi, glass noodles and side dishes. Also, the amiable old Korean lady at the KOREAN VILLAGE along Jupiter in Bel Air still cranks out delicious Korean food. She has been doing this for more than forty years now. I remember that I used to go at her Remedios Circle restaurant in Malate in the 70's. Her Korean slow cooked beef ribs stew is still sooo good and tender that falls off the bone.

  4. By the way, walang Vietnamese Restaurant thread dito sa Restaurant topics. I hope someone starts one. I also like pho noodles. The Pho Bhac in Global is always closed. It maybe that Filipinos are not into Vietnamese food? I like Vietnamese cuisine more than Thai. I find Vietnamese cuisine much fresher, not overwhelming and more subtle tasting. Oh well, maybe it's just me. I know there is a good Vietnamese restaurant on the 5th floor of SM Aura in Taguig.

  5. Sayang nagsarado na ang Le Petit Camille Vietnamese Cuisine Restaurant. I wonder why? Masarap pa naman sila. We have been loyal and regular clients of theirs specially when we crave for Vietnamese food. We've known the restaurant since our Bay Area days. We would patronize their Millbrae restaurant along El Camino Real. Again, those were days long gone.......just memories of the past.

  6. Last Christmas and New Years'buffet dinners at Sofitel's Spiral, they served Fresh Lobsters. Lobster were not the same as Maine or New England Lobsters but pwede na rin. In the US sometimes they sell a variety of lobster they call Manila Lobster which is more like our ULANG. Usually here in Manila when they say Lobster they actually mean ulang lobster. VIKING's NIU also serve ulang lobster which you can have it grilled with lemon butter sauce.

  8. When I was about 6 to 12 years old, I would hide in my favorite hiding place in our house (ceiling void ng garage). I would cry till I cried myself to sleep.

When I was a teenager, I would play with my playmates (mga batang kalye) and later with my friends when I got older till I was so tired and get myself to sleep.

When I was newly married and was earning on my own and had my own car, I would take very long drives. At one time I found myself in Legaspi City in Bicol alone, that was the time when they had just opened the South Road leading to Bicolandia. Another time, I found myself in Fort Ilocandia.

During my middle age, I would just closet myself in our den/family room staring blankly as if I was watching endless reruns and even inane cartoons on TV.

Now, I find being alone and listening to classical and operatic music very soothing to myself. The solitude gives me time to reflect on life over a cup of Twinning's Earl Grey tea. What a life! It has truly been an Incredible One!!!!!!
