  1. Steamed Maine Lobster with Lemon Butter Dipping Sauce eaten at Bar Harbor, ME or San Pedro Bay Boardwalk, Long Beach, CA. Of course with French Baguette and Chilled Napa Chardonnay.

    ahhhh........that's life

Hahahaha. back reading through this thread, I found a post I did 5 years ago.

Last Christmas and New Years'buffet dinners at Sofitel's Spiral, they served Fresh Lobsters. Lobster were not the same as Maine or New England Lobsters but pwede na rin. In the US sometimes they sell a variety of lobster they call Manila Lobster which is more like our ULANG. Usually here in Manila when they say Lobster they actually mean ulang lobster. VIKING's NIU also serve ulang lobster which you can have it grilled with lemon butter sauce.

Another one I did, almost 3 years ago. Hahahahahaha.

  2. 1. Eat all you can Steamed Lobster with Lemon Butter Dipping Sauce at BAR HARBOR in Maine when I visit my son at Colby College in Waterville, Maine.

    2. Visiting relatives in Southern California at SAN PEDRO BAY wharf, eating New England lobsters hanggang sawa.

    3. Last New Years Eve family get together at SPIRALS Sofitel Manila, Manila Lobsters to the max.

    4. Treating visiting relatives in San Francisco, Fisherman's Wharf and dining at McCORMICK & KULETOS Ghirardelli Square with Whole Steamed Maine Lobster.

    5. Entertaining business associates and friends at the San Francisco's legendary TOMMY TOYS Cuisine Chinoise feasting on Sauteed Whole Lobster in Garlic Butter sauce with Glass Noodles on a bed of Green Leeks.

    6. Back yard Grilling on a lazy summer Sunday at home with COSTCO Lobster Tails marinated in Soy Sauce, Lemon, Black Pepper, and 7up. Basted with Melted Butter.

    7. Every year about this time of the year during the Consumer Electric Show (CES) at Las Vegas, Nevada, junket parties from our Japanese Electronic principal suppliers was All Seafood Dinners which featured humongous lobsters cooked to your liking at the MIRAGE HOTEL.

  3. PAUL Boulangerie & Patisserie at AURA Global Taguig. Huge portions, quality ingredients, impeccable preparations, delectable taste and reasonably priced. Had a smoked salmon on a baguette with greens, Caesar Salad and Coffee Latte and Lemon Tart. The Lemon Tart was just lovely with their brewed coffee. And they really know their business of baking baguettes---crusty on the outside and chewy in the inside, served warm with their own churned butter--ahhhhhh....c'est la vie.

  4. Just a short FR on Cheese Mookatah:

Since it is just a new restaurant so I guess not so many people knew about this place. It is a new buffet restaurant along banawe and it comes with two(2) options Php299 and Php499... For Php499 you will get additional crabs, shrimp and salmon fish which is not included in the Php299 package. The best part about cheese mookatah? You dip everything in the cheese! I like the squid balls and all those other balls that you dip in cheese.... other food items includes pork and chicken ready for grilling, they also serve thai papaya salad and for dessert coffee jelly and watermelon. Overall 8/10.

This looks like a CHEESE FONDUE to me. I wonder how many cheese dips do they provide? Baka naman CHEDDAR CHEESE lang ang dip.

FINESTRA @ Solaire always disappoint. I had the prix fixe 4 course Christmas Dinner @ P3500+++ was an uneventful smoked salmon appetizer, a bland pasta dish, a dry Turkey entree and unmemorable dessert. The ABE restaurant was so much better, when we treated relatives from abroad on Christmas Day. Their twist on traditional Filipino cuisine is always satisfying. Their crispy pata is always tasty to the bone.

New Years Eve at the SPIRALS @ Sofitel had their usual spread. This time I indulged in their Foie Gras, unlimited Caviar bar, fresh Shrimps, Manila Lobsters, Scallops, Oysters (which came out late) and their free flowing Champagne. The New Year's party favors was not as glitzy as in previous years. This time, we just got a tooting horn.

  5.

Yup, thats why OTHER BIGGER CHRISTIAN BUSINESSES are also not allowed in San Francisco. Such as IN N' OUT, FOREVER 21, OR CARLS JR. yes, they hate Christians over there.. OH WAIT... ummm ..

May naka try na nung kipps vs tom sawyers fried chicken??

Sunburst pala in visayas area pwedeng panlaban.. :)

I haven't tasted KIPPS Fried Chicken, I've seen an outlet in SM Mega mall, I believe they are a homegrown local franchisor. TOM SAWYER Southern Style Fried Chicken got a branch in Tiendesitas in Pasig. It's more like Popeye's Fried Chicken. Breaded and crunchier than the original KFC. We used to eat at Popeye's Fried Chicken when we go to that Karaoke shop in Marine World Parkway in Vallejo,CA. There used to be a Popeye's on Mission Street and a Church's Fried Chicken on Market Street in San Francisco but both had closed shop maybe 15 or 20 years ago. San Franciscan considers fried chicken as soul food.

  6. I know CHICK-FIL-A has a location in Fairfield, another one in Santa Rosa and Rohnert Park.. Of course, you can go all the way to Vacaville and Sacramento. They do have outlets in Fresno, Stockton and I believe Salinas too. What is surprising they don't have any in San Fran, The nearest we go to would be to Fremont or San Jose. San Francisco is becoming a snooty city. The City Supervisors don't want to much mainstream franchise businesses. They want more of the local mom and pop operations to give the city a local flavor. Of course, we know the real reason is that SF is too liberal to let a Christian based business within its city limits.

  7. 1. High End SPIRALS @ Sofitel P 3000 - P 4000/person

    2. Mid Price VIKINGS @ MOA 700 - 1000/person

    3. Low End YAKIMIX @ SMs 500- 800/person

    4. Budget BARRIO FIESTA @ Mega 150- 300/person

For me, these restaurants are the BENCH MARKS for these PRICE POINTS. All others are variations which could be more or less better or worse in terms of FOOD SELECTION, PRICES and......AMBIENCE too.

  8. You can find joy in simple things in life. When you find yourself in Antipolo, there is a place along the Circumferential Road called CAFE FILIO. The place is right across the Convent of the Divine Master. The cafe has an open terrace sitting in front while the air conditioned part is at the back separated by a wooden framed glass panels from the covered patio.

PLACE- 9/10- Dimly lit but the subdued natural lighting from the patio gives it a cozy feel. Nice quiet place for reading, working on your laptop, doing crossword on a lazy afternoon while sipping your aromatic Americano.

FOOD- 8/10- My favorite is their Sauteed Lemon Garlic Shrimps with Rice or their Binagoongan with Eggplant and Rice. Their BBQ Ribs are also delectable. They have a good selection of desserts too.

PRICE- 8/10- Fair and reasonable for the quality. Less than P200 for a complete lunch meal.

SERVICE- 10/10- Attentive and fast. Very solicitous young crew.

OVERALL EXPERIENCE- 10/10 The whole experience is greater than the sum of its parts.

  9. Before the advent of Crescent Farms and Robina Farms chicken, the only way you could get a dressed chicken was from a wet market and the chicken were native chicken or white leghorns. Otherwise you buy them live in the live section market. Since these chicken were fully matured to reach their full size kaya medyo matigas. These fully dressed whole chicken were boiled in a broth with spices(peppercorn, bayleaf, msg, PATIS, salt, etc) to make them tender and make sure that the whole chicken is fully cooked inside (salmonella). Then hang to dry and refrigerated overnight. Before frying, the chicken were dusted very lightly with baking soda. They were fried in a deep fryer with Purico Lard. The lard or oil should be at a certain temperature. The frying didn't take long since the chickens were already pre-cook, The outside skin was crisp while the inside was still juicy. Nowadays, it doesn't pay to do all these things. For P299, I just go to Max and buy a whole regular size chicken Hehehe.

Of course, the Max recipe is their own secret recipe. But, it is still a very basic recipe which other made variations or even have a completely different recipe.

Your Mom's recipe is a very good one. We practically have the same recipe for Pork Chops or Inihaw na Liempo. Soy sauce, calamansi, garlic, 7up, ground peppercorn. For Korean beef ribs (cut across the bone) adding Sesame Oil on the same marinade and lemon can be substituted for the calamansi. For Teriyaki Chicken, still using the basic soy sauce marinade of your mom, you can add shredded ginger. Chili maybe added for spiciness.

I know you are fond of food Sir Asmodeus, have you tried ChicFil-A chicken? If so, will this click in Manila.

  10. Do you think a CHICK-FIL-A will "click" here in Manila? The Philippine is a huge market for Chicken Entrees and we have a lot of Chicken Restaurants serving different kinds of preparations. ChickAFil has proven to be the most popular and well regarded chicken restaurant in the American market. I wonder why they haven't reached our shores. I hope that one of these days, we'll find an outlet here for us chicken lovers Filipinos.
