  1. clark n subic- dau to ulo ng apo

rock bands of gapo - horoscope maria cafra our daily bread cyclone etc...

no nite will be complete without the sailors at the "white" bars requesting FREE BIRD !

plakado ng mga pinoy bands (except the voice)

+ the funky black music of Andre Wilson and the Howlers.

+ T. Tinio Blues Band of Antipolo Rock fame.

Indeed, the glory years of R&B and Metal. :thumbsupsmiley:

I can still remember The Cyclones doing their rock version of the Phil. Natl. Anthem

in one of their gigs at a concert in Cavite. :upside:

  2. Pards, great pics!

The left photo shows the Legazpi Towers in the background (the one with the red brick outline).

The right photo shows the popular 50s love team of Nestor de Villa and Nida Blanca, courtesy of LVN Studios. Unfortunately, both are deceased now. An all-out effort should be taken to preserve those real old, Filipino movies. They're part of our heritage and younger and future Filipino generations should have access to them.

Eto pa, Pareng wb...the old Congress Bldg. along Padre Burgos in Manila circa 70s. Linis pa ng Maynila nung araw at may cloud cover pa.

Next is a local mag in the 70s we'd never got ourselves caught reading during our time...

  3. During those days of the disco and Manila sound and because there were no MTV yet, a lot of singers rendered vocals for other groups or recorded songs using a different name.

Vic Sotto was the lead vocalist of VST & Co. and Blue Jeans who had a tagalog hit song Paniwalaan Mo. The members of VST & Co was also the members of Blockbuster. Helen Gamboa was Bonnie Chanel. VST stands for Vicente Sotto III who is now running again for senator.

Joey de Leon also wrote a lot of lyrics for VST & Co. Tito, Vic and Joey contributed a lot in the growth of OPM.

Val Sotto also did some comedy guestings in Iskul Bukol with T,V & J aka Escalera Bros. Even long before that bros. Val & Tito belonged to the band TILTDOWN MEN which pop band was touted as the Dave Clark 5 of the Phils.

These gents really have come a long way...

  4. Hagibis had Sonny Parsons as front man

...but the loud voice of Hanopol in their soundtracks is as clear as they can get.

And while ILAGAY MO KID was composed by MH, the lyrics of ILAGAY MO KID were penned by...Joey de Leon.

IMHO, no boy band/group today can still match the versatility, sound and magnetism of Hagibis. They were

packaged in the right place and at the right time by the right people

  5. ==============================================================

Ako rin! padala ako ng padal kay Uncle Bob for pictures of Vic Morrow and Rick Jason. Good thing is Uncle Bob honors all letters pati mga classmates ko napadalhan. May autograph pa nga.

By the way, sana post naman kayo memorable moments nyo during SUMMER 70s.

Pare, halos sambahin natin yang si Vic Morrow. But I was quite dis-appointed when we saw him at the Airport wearing a Hawaian flower dotted polo shirt when many of us kids were expecting him to be wearing a soldier's outfit. But that did not stop us from seeing our idol at Uncle Bob's Lucky 7. Kupas na at umurong na sa kasusuot ang Combat shirt ko, i treasured it with my life...until finally I had to accept the fact that it has turned into a "basahan". :P :upside:

I always wished my folks would give me a toy machine gun Sgt. Saunders always carried with him. Because it was too expensive then, they bought me a cheap German Luger handgun toy instead. :P

  6. This is white rook, over. :)

nadali mo, bro. THE GALLANT MEN tried to match COMBAT but the squad of Sgt. Saunders and Lt. Hanley (tks. to vergaman for that photo)just had a huge following among us kids then...halos makipag patayan pa ako sa Lucky 7 Club para sa t-shirt ni Vic Morrow. :P

Thrilla in Manila in 78 (?)...

  7. =========================================

Also, I remember Vic Morrow of Combat series sa Channel 7. He once visited our school sa UST. Pinagkaguluhan. Superstar siya sa mga kabataan during those years.

aka Sgt. Saunders + Cage + Big John + Kirby

who was Rick Jason? = Lt. _______

  8. Padaan lang.

Welcome to the newbies. Keep on posting. :thumbsupsmiley:

I saw "Exclusively His" in Quezon Ave. recently. It's also famous in the 70s.

Double knit with nik nik shirt. Hayus, groovy!!!

... with a matching pair of custom-made leather boots from that famous shop (i can't remember) somewhere in Recto. :P

  9. Martin Landau (Rollin Hand) and Barbara Bain (Cinnamon Carter) were there in season one. Interestingly, Leonard Nimoy later replaced Martin Landau after the "Star Trek" series went off the air.

Now that reminds me again of Relly Coloma's version of the theme song MISSION IMPOSSIBLE in his electric organ. Was that a Yamaha? :P

  10. But again many of our folks would often say: "Pero matitiis ba namin ang kalagayan mo? --Hindi! Kaya bago ka namin pautangin, magtabas ka muna ng damo, linisin mo ang kotse, at maglinis ka ng bahay!" :P
