  1. pag sa family, minsan binabayaran, minsan hindi na. call me madamot pero nakakadala na din eh.

That's true. Almost always, it seems that they equate the words "pahiram" or "pautang" to "pahingi".

  2. Any one remember, or been to, Good Earth Emporium along Avenida Rizal near the corner of Carriedo? When I was still a kid my dad brought me there and I remember always the 3rd floor kasi yun ung toys section. Magaganda pa quality ng matchbox cars nun compared now.

    Wala na ata ngayon un...

Matchbox nut din ako in those days...i still have in my baul the Aston Martin classic issue of JB-007.

Meron pa rin ngaung mga new issues but pretty expensive.

  3. It is only the kind of work that they do, that sets these so-called "women of ill refute" apart from the rest.

It is not suprising, to say the least, to see their patrons falling for them as they can love truly and be loved sincerly in return.

After all, the feeling is just part of human nature and we are all in agreement here that they are all human beings just as everybody are. In that context, we have no right to put judgement on their kind or on the men who fall in love with them.

Complications only ensue when such a relationship tramples upon or destroys an existing marriage of the man with his wife or worse destroys his family in the process. In a very real sense, this becomes a totally different ball game. :mtc:

  4. My dad along with a gentleman named Rodolfo T Reyes used to be the publishers of Ginoo. You will remember Reyes as the man who went on to become Press Secretary under FVR and then again under Erap. Photography was done by Emil Davocol and Mario Co in a small studio along Pasay road where I had the chance to watch centerfold shoots during my early college years.

    I remember shoots of:

    Daria Ramirez

    Lotis Key - whoo hooo!

    Gloria Diaz

    Pilar Pilapil

    Cherie Gil

    Elizabeth Oropeza

    Anna Marin

    Ana Marie Gonzales

    Carmen Ronda

    and Susan Henson

You must have a collection of those issues.

Speaking of the Bomba genre, the husband and wife team of Ricky Rogers and Scarlet was un-beatable. :thumbsupsmiley:

  5. Let me guess, - Farrah Fawcett?

Storm got it right...CANDICE BERGEN aka Murphy Brown.

She was terrific and powerful in her movie SOLDIER BLUE (1970)...the movie that was almost banned in MM theaters because of its graphic violence :)

  7. Pards, was she the same Nella Sarabia-De Leon who also wrote for Jingle magazine?

Back in the late 70s, I had a special issue of Jingle Magazine that focused on all of the Beatles songs. The magazine had a red cover and had the photos of the Fab Four on it. If I remember right, there was an article in the magazine that Nell wrote and one that Juaniyo Arcellana wrote.

Sayang. Wala nang Jingle Magazine. It was a very popular magazine. Most of my friends and classmates who were into music were regular readers. That's why I'm not really sure to this day what led to its demise. :(

Familiar radio ads of Jingle Mag that still ring in my ears:

    1. " Mommy, MOmmy... I want to JINGLE!"

    2. "Anong say mo!!!!"

  8. From another forum, from Mr Manilaman:

Just sharing. Listen to the music.

Credits to Ricky Catala who uploaded and added music on the attached old movie of Manila circa 30's which his father took while he was working for Kodak. Although there are a few cars on the road it was when the calesa (horse and buggy) was still the king. I recognized the Pasig River, Escolta, Jones Bridge, Lyric Theater, the old Dewey Blvd, San Miguel and note the houses by the walls of Intramuros. Remember these motion pictures were taken before WII.

You may also wan to checkout the film by Kawayan Productions on the Japanese bombing of Manila as told by an American internees. Enjoy.

    Certainly a MAJOR FIND. :thumbsupsmiley:

  9. It is true that comics was the only worthwhile reading during the martial law. In fact, it was the golden age of comics. Filmakers use comics as their primary source of stories for film. From Sharano Cuneta's Bituin Walang Ningnig to Carlo J. Caparas Pieta Nora Aunor as Bakekang and even Chiquito as Tacio were all from comics.

Other amusing komix characters in news dailies that made us laugh included:

    1. Kalabog n Bosyo

    2. Gorio n His Jeepney

    3. Siopawman

    4. Tisoy

    5. Ikabod Bubwit
