Whenever we have a chance to go to our hometown, we buy our rice direct from the farm. Guess what? They sell it at just slightly below market price, not at trader's price. But we don't mind. The quality is good.

Do you think rice farmers are so dumb to sell their rice to direct buyers like SMC at farm-gate prices? Think again. Many of the rice farmers now have enough education and trading savvy.

and you think SMC is dumb enough to get rice at a high price??

Sweden to send in business delegation

    http://www.manilatimes.net/sweden-send-business-delegation/293192/

COUNT Sweden out of the anxiety surrounding President Rodrigo Duterte’s foreign policy pivot — Stockholm is set to send in its largest delegation of businessmen raring to do business in the Philippines.

And there’s more: Sweden is also set to reopen its embassy in Manila after shutting it down in 2008 because of budget cuts, recognizing the importance of trade with the Philippines which has become one of the region’s fastest-growing economies.

    Biggest-ever delegation

Next month, Sweden’s biggest-ever business delegation to Manila, led by Swedish Minister of Enterprise and Innovation Mikael Damberg, will be in the Philippines. The visit will coincide with the reopening of the Swedish Embassy in Taguig.

European Union support Duterte economic agenda, want to invest in the Philippine

    http://mindanation.com/6139/european-union-support-duterte-economic-agenda-want-invest-philippine/

Contrary to what is being reported in the mainstream media, fourteen ambassadors representing the member-countries of the European Union (EU) have expressed their continued support for the Duterte administration’s 10-point socioeconomic agenda and bared plans to invest more in the Philippines, particularly in infrastructure, energy and civil security, among other fields of interest.

In a recent meeting with Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III, the ambassadors from the EU countries also emphasized their cooperation with the Philippines in implementing the peace agreement in Mindanao.

Led by Ambassador Franz Jessen, the head of the EU delegation to the Philippines, the 14 ambassadors who met with Dominguez were from the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Czech Republic, Greece, Austria, the Netherlands, Romania, Denmark, Hungary, and Sweden.

They expressed their interest in “working closely” with the Philippines in implementing its 10-point socioeconomic agenda on inclusive growth.

ANO SEEN ZONE NA LANG??? HIRIT NG NEGATIVE DALI!!!

    nabasa mo ito?

"With the success of Swedish brands such as clothing retailer H&M in the Philippine mass market, others like home accessories and furniture chain Ikea and Volvo Buses are not far behind, said Harald Fries, Sweden’s ambassador-designate, in a roundtable discussion with The Manila Times editorial team on Tuesday."

    but this is good news.

but take note that cautious pa rin sila.... meaning, meron pa ring wait and see attitude, for the meantime, wala sila pakialam sa human rights violations as long as kumikita sila.

The concern [about the Philippines]is there but more specifically on the human rights situation, and I haven’t heard from the business sector that this translates into [loss of interest in]doing business,” Fries said.

Swedish businessmen “know the fundamentals here” and the noise about the Philippines will not affect their business or investment plans, he said.

“When I read the papers here, some chambers of commerce have expressed that if this continues, it could have an effect on business interest. But I haven’t seen it in my conversation with [swedish] companies,” the Swedish diplomat said.

  4.

(wag atat as always)

"And they are saying that, San Miguel, for example, San Miguel Corporation, I talked to Mr. Ramon Ang and he said, ‘We would like to buy directly from the farmers para mawala na ‘yung traders.’ Iyong supply nila sa mga empleyado nila. And so we are encouraging other corporations to do the same thing,” he added.

if the farmer sells to the trader the rice for P5.00 per kilo..... and he will sell the same to SMC for the same price.... what difference does it make?

So if the current situation is like this:

    farmer to trader: P5/k

    trader to SMC: P10k

    SMC to consumers: P20/K

and now what will happen is this:

    Farmer to SMC: P5/K

    SMC to Consumer: P20/K

    Aquino signs CMTA into law

Aquino signs law increasing tax-exempt value of balikbayan boxes

    hahahaha,..... basag!

    naunahan mo lang ako

  5.

San Miguel Corporation's plan to buy direct will be good for the rice farmers -- that is, if SMC buys unmilled rice (palay) direct from the farmers.

If this move catches on among corporate buyers, then the farmers will eventually be encouraged to buy drying and milling equipment themselves so they can sell milled rice directly to buyers - just like the rice farmers in Japan.

Will it lower the prices of San Miguel products? The question is irrelevant. San Miguel is not just beer anymore. They're into Power Utilities, Water Utilities, Infrastructure Construction, etc... Rice procurement is probably less than 2% of their salary expense and an insignificant fraction of their total business.

What is important is to encourage companies to help farmers increase their income.

Sige ano pang negative reactions mo.. banat pa..

May sinabi ba na SMC will purchase from the farmers at the same price that they buy from the middlemen (or traders)? because this is the only way that the income of the farmers will increase.

if they will purchase from the farmers at the same price the farmers sell to the traders, what is the difference then?

if SMC will do that, then i stand corrected.

Well you are a lawyer, hindi lahat kayang i prove beyond reasonable doubt pero alam mo may kalokohang ginagawa. So habang gathering evidence muna pwede naman ilipat sa MIndanao hindi para maghasik na lagin kundi para ma out of place siya, Wala pa siyang influence sa area para gumawa ng kalokohan. At alam niya na under the radar siya sa itaas kaya siya na transfer. But I kknow you already know this right?

actually, i have talked to several generals about this... yung mga taga mindanao daw take execption sa ganitong gawain... feeling nila, tapunan sila ng mga bad eggs...

sige, yung yan paniniwala mo, ok lang.....

as to habang evidence gathering argument mo, there is always PREVENTIVE SUSPENSION instead of tatapon sa mindanao.

    .

  7.

Marami na ring tinaggal and transferred to Mindanao na mga tiwaling pulis. Ngayon lang naman not even during Lacson time na makita mong nililinis ang mga hanay ng kapulisan nationwide.

On the rally, na overwhelm and outnumbered talaga sila doon. They didn't expect a huge rally since wala namang permit ito and not announce in public.

    Good Job Sec. Pinol

San Miguel wants to buy rice directly from farmers, DA says

    http://www.gmanetwork.com/news/story/586244/money/economy/san-miguel-wants-to-buy-rice-directly-from-farmers-da-says?utm_source=GMANews&utm_medium=Facebook&utm_campaign=GMANewsFacebook

“In fact, next week when I come back from a trip abroad, we will already meet with the captains of industries because there are corporations now who would like to exercise their social—social—corporate social responsibility, CSR," Piñol said.

"And they are saying that, San Miguel, for example, San Miguel Corporation, I talked to Mr. Ramon Ang and he said, ‘We would like to buy directly from the farmers para mawala na ‘yung traders.’ Iyong supply nila sa mga empleyado nila. And so we are encouraging other corporations to do the same thing,” he added.

so, you expect na bababa ang prices ng san miguel products?

if not, ginagawa lang nila yun para mas lumaki kita nila.

    http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-10-18/philippine-stocks-surge-most-in-asia-amid-duterte-s-china-trip

Philippine stocks advanced the most in five months amid optimism that President Rodrigo Duterte’s visit to China will improve relations and yield a raft of business deals.

The Philippine Stock Exchange Index rose 2.9 percent to 7,571.15 at the close of trading in Manila at 3:30 p.m. local time, the steepest gain since May 11. SM Prime Holdings Inc., which has malls in the Philippines and China, jumped 6.5 percent, while restaurant operator Jollibee Foods Corp. added 4 percent.

There is optimism that the pivot to China will yield results,” said James Lago, head of research at PCCI Securities Brokers Corp. in Manila.“The Philippine market is also at such oversold levels already that valuations are now more reasonable.”
