  1. Definitely, and it's a matter of whether or not you're paying attention to music or if you're just consuming what's on the top charts. I try to listen to music as recommended by people through word of mouth or digging into forums and message boards for recommendations that Spotify or the Billboard hot 100 just don't provide.
  2. That's a double edged sword, the whole "rap is soft" discussion. If you've listened to drill rap, these are literally the hardest rap songs because they're made by gang members talking about actual bodies they've caught. This then leads to retaliation once the song blows up either locally or beyond their local scene. Alternatively, there are new rap songs that originate from the traditions of R&B which more openly discuss relationships beyond the whole "that's my bitch" discourse, which is a good thing. Modern Eminem is mostly flexing his pen while not really saying much. Of course there are exceptions, such as "Rap God" which discusses the GOAT discourse. "Lazy beats" is a thing, but that's wholly dependent on who's producing and perspective comes from what the rest of the album is made of. I agree there are a lot of "lazy minimalist beats", but if you're building an album, a turn down song helps control the pace, see any of Lupe Fiasco's recent albums where he goes hard lyrically in some songs to be followed by a slower paced song with a minimalist beat that lets his lyrics breathe. Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp a Butterfly has legendary production and stories where he told Sounwave to cut out instruments to declutter the sound of the production, transitioning it from ultra jazzy to a little harder and more concise. The thing that happened to rap needed to happen to evolve the art, and the unfortunate side effect is the emergence of copy-cats that jock the aesthetic without having a purpose to the production. So, I agree, but I don't see it as a bad thing since this is something that happens to all music (see: the opinions of rock vs metal vs punk fans)
  3. That's a good point. Newer artists are coming from places outside the "music label system" due to their not being signed, but their popularity being driven by social media and sound cloud.
  4. No. Today's music has given artists more avenues to get popular, which means more artists that aren't held back by their labels. But that also means less polish due to lack of oversight. The lyrics issue depends on what you're listening to, and what you mean by lyrics.
  5. Damn, this unlocked a memory of side-scrolling Duke Nukem for PC.
  6. It's always crazy to see how far we've come in terms of PC specs. This reminds me of our first family PC. It could barely play games, but it was all so exciting. These days specs aren't that exciting unless they're noticeably higher or faster than the current industry standard. (anyone remember "yeah, but can it run Crysis?").

    GTA 5

HA! Sorry, everybody has been praying for no delays and all we get are delays. Lol. I'm with you, but at this point it might get an additional delay to December 2026 if they're trying to get it to run smooth on that new Steam console.
  11. I've heard of too many "wrong send" stories, so I don't trust it. So, I rock 2 phones. But, I've seen the usefulness of dual-sim for dual network coverage.
  12. Recently got an ultrabook. I can tolerate a sling bag for thin and light laptops, but backpacks are still better for health.

  14. This might be the time since people hate the Black Ops 7 campaign. But they might do something interesting in season 6 (they seem to be updating the "story" each season)
  15. A long CoD break is the best time to get addicted again. If you're a controller player, there is literally no game that matches the feel of CoD (except Apex, but that's because their team was founded by former Infinity Ward members).
  16. Best story and the introduction of zombies, sure. But gunplay and gun-feel in MW2 were better, the guns had usable iron sights, the optics were less clunky, the graphics and art design were more polished, and the campaign had better setpiece moments. Modern Warfare 2019 is peak movement with excellent slide-cancel feel, gun-feel, and (surprisingly in 2026) graphics. The campaign gameplay and design is the best in the series. (Unfortunately this was the beginning of CoD microtransaction hell). Modern Warfare III (2023) has the best lineup of weapons and the best continuous content delivery in the franchise. Black ops 6 introduced omni-movement which then added wall-jumps in Black Ops 7 to this current state of crackhead camera breaking movement, if you like that sort of thing. Personally, my pick is Modern Warfare (2019).
  17. Young Sherlock coming to Amazon in March 2026. Looks pretty good in the trailers. Hopefully it avoids the mistakes of the BBC series.

    LA Lakers

    Giannis to the Lakers 🤞
  20. Love Hurts (2025; Ke Huy Quan) 6.7/10 A fun romance action movie that suffers from a lacking budget and potential writing issues. You feel the movie could be more as Ke Huy Quan delivers a charming performance, some interesting characters that beg for more development, and nicely performed action sequences.
  21. Cable Guy. Jim Carey really surprised me and I'm not gonna spoil it so you can get the surprised sensation.
