Back To The 70's

Recommended Posts

We just chipped in sa gas and off we go to as far as Batangas in the south and Baguio in the north pero madalas kami sa Nueva Ecija where my mom has a farm she inherited from her father.

I was in 1st year at Notre Dame when Martial Law was declared.

Ngayon hindi na ko nakakapunta sa farm. Hanggang dito na lang sa Metro-Manila nakakalibot. I am busy immersing myself as a sculptor (3rd year ko na) and painter (preparing for a show) while still working as a graphic designer for the past 20 years.

Somehow pareng photographer, related yung field natin.

To all the 70s peeps,

Lets have an EB soon.

================================================================================

Related nga. we are both artists. Inform me or PM me when ang iyong show.

Well, kami naman, dahil piso lang ang baon nuon hehehe, we only go as far as Good Earth Emporium, Luneta (naks! hahaha), Harrison Plaza, at "Ilusion" hehehe. Kapag may naipon, Pampanga, where most of my barkada are from, Bulacan, Matabungkay, Anilao, and nuong malinis at walang kamatayang, Aroma Beach sa Coastal (where I got my first initiation sa frat - college na) and Mabuhay Beach sa Cavite. Would you believe, naliligo pa kami sa breakwater and mismo sa nakatayong "Boardwalk" ngayon? The bay water then was sooo clean and nanghuhuli pa kami ng mga talangka. The air over Manila fresh pa nuon. :rolleyes:

Ganitong panahon ay uso ang talangka or pehe as we call it in Malabon.

My sculpture exhibit is ongoing until August 18 at Hiraya Gallery, 530 UN Ave., Ermita, Manila. It's located between Bocobo and MH del Pilar, beside Figaro. May shutterbugs (grupo ng mga MTC photographers and hobbyist) EB on the 18th.

Meron palang grupo ng mga photographers dito sa MTC :goatee: I used to be president ng Nayon Photographers Club back in year 2000.

This was supposedly given during the bday of Macoy in 1968 -- curious lang, may fake na Rolex na ba from Korea / China noon?

I got this in my email......

***********************************************

Si Nanay ay nasa bahay pag-uwi namin galing sa paaralan;

Walang mga bakod at gate ang magkakapit-bahay, kung meron, gumamela lang;

10 sentimos o diyes lang ang baon: singko sa umaga, singko sa hapon;

Malaking bagay na ang pumunta sa ilog para mag-picnic, o kaya sa tumana;

Grabe na ang kaso pag napatawag ka sa principal's office o kaya malaking kahihiyan kapag bagsak ka sa exams;

May dagta ang dulo ng tinting na hawak mo para makahuli tutubi, nandadakma ka ng palakang tetot, pero ingat ka sa palakang saging dahil sa kulugo;

Butas na ang sakong ng Spartan mong tsinelas - suot mo pa rin;

Tayo noon... Doon ...

Tinutukoy ko ang harang taga o tumbang preso kapag maliwanag ang buwan;

kabisado natin, kasi wala namang calculator.

Pag-akyat natin sa mga puno; pagkakabit ng kulambo, lundagan sa kama ;

Pagtikwas o pagtitimba sa poso; pingga ang pang-igib ng lalake at may dikin naman ang ulo ng babae;

Inaasbaran ng mga suberbiyo;

Karera sa takbuhan hanggang maubos ang hininga; pagtawa hanggang sumakit ang tiyan;

Meron pa bang himbabao, kulitis at pongapong?

Estigo santo kapag nagmamano.

Mapagod sa kakalaro, minsan mapalo; matakot sa "berdugo" at sa "kapre";

Pwede ring ang sukli ay kending Vicks (meron pang libreng singsing) o kaya nougat o karamel;

mas masaya kung inuyat;

Halo-halo: yelo, asukal at gatas lang ang sahog;

Lipstick mo ay papel de hapon;

Labaha ang gamit para sa white-side-wall na gupit;

May mga program kapag Lunes sa paaralan;

Awit muna: Penpen de Serapen, de kutsilyo, de almasen. How how the carabao batuten...

Presidente ng klase ay ang pinakamagaling, hindi ang pinaka-mayaman;

Masaya na tayo basta sama-sama kahit hati-hati sa kokonti;

Nauubos ang oras natin sa pagku-kwentuhan, may oras tayo sa isat-isa;

KAPAYAPAAN!

Pustahan tayo nakangiti ka pa rin!

Ilocos Sur warlord Rep. Floro Crisologo was assassinated on October 18, 1970 inside Vigan St. Paul’s Cathedral. Lawyer Floro Crisologo personally opposed Marcos’ martial law plan. By the way, you can view the pictures of the assassination at the Crisologo Museum at Vigan. Historical.

Vincent Bingbong Crisologo ordered the burning of the villages of Ora Este and Ora Centro in Bantay, Ilocos Norte. For the reason, they voted against his mom...Carmeling Pichay Crisologo. The villagers voted for Luis Chavit Singson.

Now bingbong is now a charismatic leader of the group called "A New Life in Jesus" and a congressman from the first district of Quezon City.

Am a part of Bingbong's religious group.......The Loved Flock.

There exists a chilling blow-up picture of a confrontation between Chavit and Bingbong (with their bodyguards) wherein one can see Bingbong ready to pick-up his pistol tucked in his waist while shouting (per the shape of his mouth) at Chavit who is directly in front of him. Chavit has armalites (PC)-toting people pointed directly at Bingbong's bodyguards. Just wondering the feelings of the photographer at that very moment.

nice anecdotes, I remember following events at the time and one of General Fidel Ramos' "frustrations" was that while General Ver was under investigation for the murder of Ninoy Aquino, Marcos installed Ramos as "Acting" Chief of Staff, never actually giving him the title or position officially,

Speaking about warlords of the north, I remember as a very young man being in Ilocos (Fort Ilocandia) during Irene Marcos' wedding to Greggy Araneta...

the day before the wedding, I remember looking at the parking lot and I was convinced every single mercedes benz in the country at the time was parked in the parking lot, and Imelda arriving in in this huge white PNR tourist bus, trailed by about 30 cars, ambulances and uncountable motorcycles,

looking at the ocean, mega yachts were docked and Lear Jets taking off and landing at the nearby airport, helicopters ferrying VIPs to the venue...

then watching the ultimate of all "APOs" of the north... FM with Bonget, surrounded by bodyguards approximately thier same height, touring the Hotel with a sense of authority one simply cannot buy,

and the photographers going nuts just snapping away at them, it was impressive for this kid at the time, and I'm sure a sight like that will never be duplicated in these modern times...

I only read it sa Manila Bulletin advertisements, planned to watched nuon but ang mahal :goatee: Carmi Martin, I think, was part of the show. Then nagkaron siya ng kalaban.....cant recall the name of the agency.

Na imagine ko nga lahat ito during my documentary sa Ilocos Norte two years ago. I was even allowed inside the Malacanan of the North. I think malabo nang mangyayari ito ngayon, now with more freedom sa press. Lagot sila sa publicity and public opinion. The church where Irene and Greggy got married, nasira na yung roof during the great earthquake a few years after the wedding. My guides (former PSC of Marcos) told me stories about the wedding pati yung rush importation of flowers from Holland kasi yung tinanim nilang flowering plants failed to bloom on the required period time

Kasama pala si Isabel Lopez dun? Wonder kung sino may copy pa ng "Hubo sa Dilim" which was shown sa MIFF at Film Center early 80s. : - )

Girard Peter started out producing fashion shows to lure businessmen into the then La Concha at the Hyatt Regency Manila

Back in those days, the Hyatt was the only place in town, it was booming -- with Calesa Bar and Circuit Disco at night, Tempura Misono, the only, if not one of the only real classy Japanese Restaurants at the time, the management then thought of an ingenious way to bring in the business crowd so they had top designers like Pitoy Moreno, etc launch fashion shows at the La Concha at the top floor of the Hotel...

Of course these were the good old days when cocktails with lunch were standard, and what better way to spend a "business lunch" than to be watching Manila's most gorgeous models strut their stuff on the catwalk...

Girard Peter (obviously not his real name) took it a step further when he launched the "fashion shows" to be more risque and sexy, with the likes of Carmi Martin, Maria Isabel Lopez and if I'm not mistaken "si ako, si ikaw" Maria Teresa Carlson...

He became rich, and is still rich now... astute businessman with his finger on the pulse of what the market truly wants

May napanood ako years ago pa sa VHS--"Sex in Phil. Cinema" which was basically a collection of sex clips from the 70s Bomba genre up to the early 80s. Would you know if this is already available in DVD format in Quiapo or elsewhere? That colllection included the classic rape scene of Ma. Isabel Lopez by a horde of salivating and hungry menyaks. :cool:

But what was really amusing and comedic was that clip showing Romy Diaz and George Estregan taking turns nailing some starlet in the 70s. :upside:

The owner of Girard-Peter was Gerry Reyes (he resembles Hajji Alejandro - small, maporma mega-mustache envelope bag toting. Benz driving-type) and wife Daisy Izon-Reyes. They were rich na rin even before they started the GP models and yes, they became richer... they actually made a pile from semi-tactful pimping of the models. Curious lang.. what career / biz-shift did this couple do?

I remember the REYES couple (and met them a few times in the early 80's) because one of my college study-batch/ groupmates worked for them. She was earning about Php 15,000 THEN not to mention gifts from her "patrons" had her own apartment and was driving a brand new Toyota Liftback. She worked as GP model to help herself and her brothers to finish college But soon after graduation, she stopped, and took a simple job as Bank Teller earning (then) Php 1,200 which was really quite admirable to start a normal life. She worked her way up, married a simple decent hardworking man, became a lawyer and is now an SVP of one of the leading banks.
