Si Donny Osmond ang katapat noon ni Michael Jackson

Dating back to the 60s pa yun, Osmond Brothers vs. Jackson Five.

do you remember those tacky movies being shown on TV in the 70's during Holy Week?

Staples nun yung The Robe, Demetrius and the Gladiators, The Bible at saka yung kay Fr. Patrick Peyton - where the face of Jesus is not shown...hindi kami nagsasawa dun kahit taon-taon namin napapanuod :P

Pareho pa silang bata noon (Donny and Michael). In the 70s, I saw once in TV where Donny and Michael sang together and alternately sa isang award, either Grammy or American Music award.

Since nasa Holy Week mode naman tayo...

Noong araw talaga, kapag-sinabing Holy Week, ibig sabihin, "Holy Week." Talagang pinagalitan kami.

Same day (Good Friday), pinalabas sa pre-martial law Channel 7 yung mga actual crucifixion sa Pampanga. Di ako makatulog noon Good Friday na yun.

Noong early part ng 70s, nagkaroon ng Pinoy TV production ng "Jesus Christ Superstar," gamit ang recording ng London stage production starring Murray Head (wala pa yung sine with Ted Neely as JC). Nag-lipsync sina Bernardo Bernardo (Jesus), Tommy Abuel (Judas) at Laurice Guillen (Mary Magdalene). Those were the days when there was much debate on whether or not "Jesus Christ Superstar" was blasphemy. There was even talk then that to listen or watch (when the movie came out) JCS was a sin.

Other Holy Week staples, to add to pareng Bods' list: St. Francis of Assissi, The Greatest Story Ever Told, Jesus of Nazareth, Christ of the Ocean. Some time long ago, a channel even showed "Lilies of the Field." Any movie with a religious theme or which involved a religious group was staple.

pag holy week sa town namin noon, napaka solemn. naka black dress pa kami. at 12 noon , sa church na kami. bawal ung radio pag holy thursday at good friday. bawal sumigaw. bawal maglaro. maraming bawal.
