I never knew Bong Penera is in Chicago all this time. For a while in the 70's, he was the hottest lounge performer. I used to see him perform in Hyatt's Calesa Bar long ago---high school pa ako that time but they let me in anyways. Then the 80's came about and modern bands took over Calesa -- most noteably Side A band--which gradually eased out the Bong Penera crowd. I played a gig with Bong Penera's former drummer in QC last year and we had a blast just dishing out the old tunes they used to play. Bong Gabriel, on the other hand--sang "Greyhound" with Tillie Moreno who is also based in the States now. I also remember Tillie Moreno rocking it out with the legendary 70's group -- the Circus Band--which had as members, Basil, Richard Tann, Hajji and Pabs Dadivas with Tillie, Jacqui Magno and Pat Castillo. The group was managed by eqaully legendary Atek Jacinto. Quote Link to comment

Remember the hit song "I will always stay this way" which became very popular in the 80s? That's Boy Katindig with Baron Barbers on vocals. Heavy-gat talaga yang Circus Band! Quote Link to comment

I dunno if Cousin Hoagy still hosts Crossroads over at NU. Red Rooster - maybe he has come home to roost How about the others, pare - Howlin' Dave, Double A, The Mole, Sleepy John...The Wirth brothers of Pet Ant - where are they now? I also used to remember some Pinoy guitarists who used to have their tunes played at RJ and nowhere else - Johnny Alegre, Joey Puyat...Was it Harry Tambuatco who fronted Aunt Irma? where the hell are these guys now? storm
I remember Bob Magoo, the Mole, Brother Wayne, Bingo Lacson, etc. But since I'm more of a Dance music kind of guy, I listened to Magic Disco 102 where Gonzalez, Sloppy Joe and the Triggerman started, if my memory serves me right, kasi more than 25 years ago na yun. Jeremiah Junior was a friend of mine. Quote Link to comment
bods1000
I rmember Mike Enriquez was a DJ at DWBL..he's bigtime now si Jeremiah Junior naging DJ din sa RT. Bob Magoo was a good guy. Back in college we sponsored a benefit concert in Pasig and we got him as host (the Apo, Banyuhay were some of the acts). Wala syang kyeme - no airs although medyo sikat na siya nuon. Kaya lang nga a lot of badings were pinching his ass backstage -tisoy kasi ito eh Quote Link to comment

Pero if you would think about it - if they go back to the old format today - what kind of rock are they gonna play? I mean the rock music of today - if you can call it rock - parang malayong-malayo na dun sa 70's rock. Would they play what - Creed? Incubus? Audioslave? yung mga 70's artists either they have passed away, or semi-retired, or reformatted - like what David Bowie has been doing of late. pards ok pala schoolmate mo si Joey Puyat - what's he doing now? Anong high school ba ito, if you don't mind? Johnny Alegre I used to see in campus when I was in college. He also used to jam with the UP Jazz Ensemble nung nandun pa sina Tots Tolentino and John Lesaca. sayang nga yung mga musicians natin - lalo na yung mga session men na magagaling gaya nina Colby.
