Immortal666
In other, sadder news, let's all mourn the passing of two of metal's finest musicians: Vader drummer Krzysztof "Doc" Raczkowski 1970-2005 and Voivod guitarist Dennis 'Piggy' D'Amour 1959 - 2005 The former died of complications from his alcohol-problem while the latter died due to colon cancer. Let's all crank up our VADER and VOIVOD cds and mp3s in their memory. Their memories will never die because their music will live on forever! Quote Link to comment
Cradle of Filth
may balita pa ba kayo sa bandang ito? DAHONGPALAY - Known to be one of the Pioneers of Filipino Metal during the days when LA105.9 FM ruled the airwaves. The brain child of Ramon "The Doctor" Zialcita and the guy who started it all Andrew "Eurd" Dela Hostria - Original Vocalist / Bassist / Composer of Dahongpalay. The group has released different Compilation Albums under Vicor, Ivory and Tone Def during the 90's and has released their Debut Album "Kapatiran Ng Bakal At Apoy" under Ivory Records / Tone Def Label in 1996. The group was later christened as "The Philippines' Answer To Black Sabbath" and "The Philippines' Kings Of Dark Metal". Where are they now? Quote Link to comment

Immortal666
@digitalsober: Dude, I think the kind of 'metalfest' sickness was thinking of is similar to that of Ozzfest, yung tipong sikat na foreign metal bands. Hindi ko minamaliit ang local bands natin, but damn, imagine if we had a Metalfest similar to that of Ozzfest or even the Beast Feast in South Korea, Wacken Open Air in Germany, Inferno Fest in Norway. Yung tipong malulupit na foreign bands talaga. Well, we can only dream 'coz metal never was and never will be popular here. So no concert organizer/promoter would risk their money on such a venture because metal is perceived to be unmarketable and unprofitable here in the Phils. Quote Link to comment
furian
i agree with immortal metal scene here in our country isn't that popular , but maybe we cud start our own metalfest with here featuring our own locals.. Quote Link to comment

sickness
Kahit metalfest ng mga local metal bands ok lang. Basta mga 20 or more metal bands ang tutugtog at hindi kung sino-sinong banda lang. Quote Link to comment
Immortal666
@cruesome: Here's a list of some metal and metal-ish bands who played in the Phils: Mr. Big (1994 or 1995 ata)Def Leppard (1996)Rage Against the Machine (1997) Black Sabbath had a scheduled concert here in 1996 but it was cancelled due to poor ticket sales. But Tony Iommi and company went to Manila anyway and wanted to play at the Hard Rock Cafe para 'di naman masayang oras nila dito. But the people who were running that establishment turned down their offer to play an impromptu gig kasi di 'ata sila nakilala. Ironic since Iommi's jacket is one of the rock memorabilias on display in that bar. Helloween wanted to play a concert in Manila but their local distributor (Universal records) had to dissuade them because they were expecting that not enough people would attend the show. Tsk, tsk, sayang. Quote Link to comment
cruesome
immortol666: dude, are you sure def leppard played in '96? how could i missed them? i know they had a tv promo tour for the slang album. nelson twins also reached ph for a promo tour (watched them in campo). jason newstead (yes, i think it was post metallica) played at hard rock glorrieta jammin with local bands.
