lestat41
wanderlei silva vs. brandon vera would be an explosive match if that happens,,I also believe that if vera goes down to light heavyweight he will be more effective..its just that he will be facing the axe murderer,,regarded as one of the most dangerous fighters..hehe..but im sure vera would try his best because he has lost 2 fights in a row.. I really hope that somebody here will be able to show Affliction Banned in the Philippines..it shows 6 of the world's best heavyweights..Heard about the UFC 88 will feauture the liddell vs. evans bout..it will be a good match...but what I am hoping for is MW champ Anderson Silva to be back in the cage to defend his MW belt..if I'm not mistaken I think Silva's last match was March against Dan Henderson..and we are still not hearing news about a next "spider" silva fight..GSP already has a match set up in August..its just about 4 months after his domination of Matt Serra..or the UFC could not look for anybody to match up with silva.. :headsetsmiley: Quote Link to comment
allanppp
si Yushin Okami siguro ang ilalaban para kay Anderson Silva.. Pero parang hindi ganun ka-ganda ang magiging laban nila kasi known for being somewhat "boring" yung style ni Okami.. Personally, I would like to see an Anderson Silva - Lyoto Machida fight.. I think this would be feasible kung catch weight lang ung match and hindi middleweight or light heavyweight.. Another match-up in the horizon is a middleweight title fight between Michael Bisping and Anderson Silva. I think mas magandang laban yun Edited June 17, 2008 by allanppp Quote Link to comment
_eRon_
Okami muna saka si Lyoto Machida for the Spider, i think Quote Link to comment
SevenZeroFive
for me the next logical matchup for Anderson is Yushin Okami. they do have some unfinished business going back to Anderson's DQ loss at the Rubmle On The Rock MW Tournament. if and when Anderson gets past Okami then we can talk beyond 185. Anderson won't go down to 170, so if GSP's tabbed to be next he'll have to go up. or it could be a battle of 2 Silva's & former training partners at Chute Boxe if WAND is tabbed next. as for Bisping, sure he looked phenomenal against McCarthy & Jason Day, but he still has to beat the upper-tier MW's like Hendo or Rich Franklin. about the possile WAND-Brandon matchup, unfortunately the UFC & Spike TV have denied the rumors that they're setting up a live card to counter Affliction Entertainment's PPV debut. IMO, good for them, because should Brandon decide to go down to 205 and he does get tagged as next in line for WAND, they can stage it at a future PPV event, which would translate to more revenues for the UFC. and I haven't even mentioned how great it would be if THAT's gonna be the main event for the UFC show here in Manila. if Affliction Entertainment's PPV will air here, it's most definitely going to air on Solar Sports. if Affliction Entertainment (with Donald Trump by their side) inks a deal with ProElite for distribution, then most likely Solar Sports will air it. i mean, who passes on a PPV card with a PRIDE Heayweight Champion (Fedor), 3 former UFC Heavyweight Champions (Sylvia, Arlovski, Josh Barnett), a former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion (Vitor Belfort), and top prospects like Ben Rothwell? as for the guy who's asking around about MA gyms, I've been hearing good things about these three: MAP Ultra - the guys who train there are nice, walang angas. for sure there's someone training there because the national team's training there. been talking to some guys from PinoyMMA.com who are training at MAP Ultra, maayos nga daw. Newbreed - they schedule open-door sessions at the Moro, so you can drop by and check it out. Elorde West / SSP - if the top fight team in the URCC is training there (Team Lakay Wushu), it has to be good. this, and the fact that SSP has had a good reputation for years. good venue too, open air and very ample space. allanppp
Another interesting fight is if UFC signs Paulo Filho and make him challenge Anderson Silva. Not a long shot because Filho is under contract with WEC.. Quote Link to comment
riceb0i
good match Shinya Aoki VS BJ Penn o kaya Shinya Aoki VS GSP ayan maganda yan. Quote Link to comment

Great Milenko
UFC green lights Spike TV special on July 19 (Update) MMAMania.com has learned today that the UFC will indeed go forward with a Spike TV event on July 19 despite some recent reports that claimed it wasn’t going to materialize. We first passed along the news over the weekend that several fighters had been approached about participating in the event, which is less than five weeks away. It is widely believed that the decision to stage an event on such short notice is to counter the Affliction: “Banned” debut event on pay-per-view (PPV) that same evening. Regardless of the intent, this means that mixed martial arts fans worldwide have some nice available options in mid-July. And there’s no reason to not watch both. As we mentioned in our previous report, promising heavyweight prospect Cain Velasquez is expected to compete on the July 19 card against a soon to be announced opponent. Brandon Vera — who we can confidently report is making the drop to light heavyweight — has been asked to headline the event. There was some valid speculation that he would take on Wanderlei Silva; however, it appears that “The Axe Murderer” will not accept the bout because he does not have enough time to prepare. The hunt for someone to challenge “The Truth” is still ongoing. In addition to Vera, Velesquez and others, there are a handful of fights already slated for other events that will be shuffled and added to this card. We’ll pass those along to you as soon as possible. The UFC July 19 show will take place in Las Vegas — most likely at The Palms Resort & Casino. UPDATE: MMARated.com is reporting that UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva will make his 205-pound debut against James Irvin in the main event. Stay tuned for more details. Quote Link to comment
