I've come to a realization about some cases of unrequited love, those where it seems the receiver still hangs around when he/she obviously cannot reciprocate to the giver.

 

It is not there is nothing there. Au contraire, there might actually be something there. Unfortunately, R cannot handle any form of emotion beyond a certain level toward G. And thus, R keeps G at a certain distance, unwilling to risk either magnificent love or spectacular failed romance.
