purrtypwincess Posted February 16, 2009 Share Posted February 16, 2009 I have been collecting books all my life, and I am glad that there are topics like this here, specially that I'm just a newbie and have seen the not-so-wholesome ones.  Anyhoo, I've had a recent inkling for young adult fiction. Seriously, some of the best authors could be found in that section (like J. K. Rowling). The most recent one I've read is "The Alchemyst" by Michael Scott. This is different from Paulo Coelho's like a lot mistake it for.  The author managed to weave in history (sometimes myth) into the simple story of good versus evil, from the Greek Gods, to the Philosopher's Stone to the more recent San Francisco buildings and establishments. What's more, another book just came out in that series, "The Magician", which involves the infamous Machiavelli as one of its main characters. And like any bestselling book you can't get enough of, it's sold out everywhere. Leave room for more imagination. Quote Link to comment

ambidextrous00 Posted March 26, 2009 Share Posted March 26, 2009 i LOVE stephen king. i have around 50 SK books. milan kundera jeanette winterson as for coelho. i dont know if its just the translation but i hate the way his books were written. have just started reading gabriel garcia marquez, so.. no verdict as of yet. haruka murakami. i was surprised to see jostain gaarder (not sure if i got the spelling correctly) on a lot of people's list. wala lang. im so intruiged with chuck pahlaniuk. rant ba yun? catchy vignette and cover. :thumbsupsmiley:  oh and i have neverwhere by gaiman but i cant get past page 100. hahahaha. its so blah. maybe im just not in the mood to read. im currently reading 4 books. memories of my melancholy whores, one hundred years of solitude, neverwhere and song of kali. ooooh guys, how about kahlil ghibran? please excuse my spellings. ayaw ko na i check. katamad.
