pinoywritingfool Posted May 15, 2008 Share Posted May 15, 2008 that's `coz you probably didn't see him in his prime. and I can't blame you---not enough people have. he was a ferocious dunker, an even more intimidating shot-blocker and had such soft hands that were made for completing passes and sinking lazy perimeter jumpers. and to top it all off, he read the floor well. he practically undressed David Robinson and the whole collegiate team that the US sent to Seoul. come to think of it, Sabas was actually the single biggest reason why USA basketball formed the original Dream Team. the Sabonis you saw who came into the league as a 30-year-old rookie with an even older body (after a host of injuries) was really just a shell of one of basketball's best big men. and even in that incarnation, he was a whole lot better than most people gave him credit for. Amen! Just can't say enough about Sabonis. Greatest passing center of all time, great offensive skills (Tim Duncan was nothing compared to Sabonis as far as fundamentals and footwork is concerned), great teammate... Greatest passing center of all time, great offensive skills (Tim Duncan was nothing compared to Sabonis as far as fundamentals and footwork is concerned), great teammate... And yes, he was the reason why the Dream Team was formed. My favorite play of Sabonis was the one when paused in midcurt after competing a behind the back pass.
