Its hard to explain specially if you dont have a diagram. pero its like this, ...

a player is offside if he is nearer to his opponents' goal line than both the ball and the second last opponent (the last opponent is usually the opposing goalkeeper)...

more on the Offside Rule

as what someone said, mejo complicated explain pag walang diagram..

offside-simpleng explanation..pag nauna yun pasa(ng offensive team) dun sa takbo nung offensive player ...

guys, thanks po sa info ha. :)

bubuy maybe because ManU has better international scouts than real? (which is highly unlikely)  and they have a different philosophy in acquiring players.. a big club like real does not have the time to nurture players, they are expected to win all competitions they compete in.. that's why they buy "older" players.. but as you said before, the problem still lies in NOT buying expensive/quality defenders.. sigh.. if i could only manage real..  alessandro nesta would have been with the team even before ronaldo got there..

wow, laki ng fee na binayad ng chelsea for essien, but by the way he plays (according to reliable sources), magaling siya, let's see if he truly is worth 47.5million pounds..

magiging unbeatable na ba tlga chelsea w/ the addition of essien? they didn't look unbeatable w/ the 1-0 win against wigan, wigan dominated up to the last minute of the game, w/ hernan crespo getting the vital goal to give the champions the win..

sayang dapat nakuha siya ng manU kaso sobrang mahal nman, 47.5 million pounds tsk tsk tsk, sayang tlga..:(

let us wait and see first on how mourinho will use essien...

regarding the chelsea-wigan match...

"It's not fair," said Chelsea manager Mourinho after his side's 1-0 win. "I feel sorry for [Wigan] I don't think they deserved to lose the game." :thumbsupsmiley:

"We have to perform better. Normally you lose and get a wake-up call - today we got a wake-up call but also three points." (medyo natawa ako dito)...

the emergence of jermaine defoe proved to be a deciding factor why premiereship side tottenham hotspur let go of malian striker frederic kanoute... la liga outfit sevilla shelled out €6.5m for the transfer and offered a four-year contract with a buy-out fee being set at €25m... the 28-year-old former west ham striker is seen as a replacement for julio baptista who was earlier sold to real madrid... kanoute will line up in front with on-loan argentinian dynamo javier saviola...

err... it was kanoute who was bought out from tottenham and will play at sevilla... not defoe...

defoe will still be lining up in front with the enigmatic robbie keane for the spurs... he also did his first start for england... but they were soundly beaten by denmark...

after watching arsenal get beat by chelsea (again. they also lost in the community shield) last sunday, it was obvious to see that viera was sorely missed. the midfield was bossed over by chelsea. alexander hleb, i found out, plays on the flanks. so it was really only gilberto in the middle. fabregas plays more like pires, more of an attacker and not at all a physical midfielder. wenger needs to fill that gap. perhaps convert lauren to a central midfielder.

Link to comment

i think wenger opts to play hleb in the flanks... hleb used to play in the center during his time with stuttgart... and maybe he is still adapting to the english style of play...

both fabregas and pires operate and are more effective at flanks... the same goes with freddie ljunberg... gilberto silva is perhaps the only natural central midfielder... lauren can move upfront... leaving philippe senderos, pascal cygan, and gael clichy to cover up in defense...

is the primera liga due to kickoff this weekend?

looks like a much tighter race this season. barca i think are still favorites, esp with the addition of van bommel. also, larsson should be fit this season so there won't be a shortage of strikers. motta, gabri and edmilson are all back from long term injuries. and let's not forget ronaldinho who i consider the new zidane, the most creative player in the world.

but real madrid has strengthened their squad even more. we all know about the high profile signings of brazilian forwards julio baptista and robinho. real madrid, on paper, has the most potent strikeforce in the world. but what has gone almost unnoticed was the transfer of uruguayans pablo garcia and carlos diogo. these two are defensive hardmen and together with gravesen will give the galacticos the bite they lack.

and of course there are others like valencia and villareal. looking forward to what should be a great season!!

saw an exhibition match between real madrid and an mls select team (real madrid won 5-0) and was surprised to see julio baptista playing more of an attacking midfield position rather than an out-and-out striker. looks like luxemburgo is gonna use 2 attacking mids with zidane and baptista, similar to barca's tactic of using ronaldinho and deco at the same time. makes a lot of sense, since zidane prefers drifting to the left flank. guess it will be ronaldo, robinho and raul fighting for the forward positions.
