9.5 to 10 are all Gem Mint pare.. So, highest ito in terms of pricing at grades of PSA or BGS.. An Allen Iverson Topps Chrome RC has a HI price of $200 in Beckett.. While Kobe's Topps Chrome RC is at $650 HI..

 

I was offered a Tim Duncan Topps Chrome RC BGS 9.5 (Gem Mt) - BV of $120.00.. Ang multiplier ay 40.. So Php4,800.00.. I passed coz I wanted a Pristine 10.. Kahit full book pa.. at least pristine..

 

In this sense, Kobe and AI's Topps Chromes might fetch you a high price.. Kung si Duncan multiplier ay 40.. I do think full book sina Kobe and AI.. Which is times 50 of the dollar price.. Maybe yung kay AI ma-ha-haggle mo pa na ibaba ang price but definitely si Kobe - mataas ang bentahan.. Nasa 30K yang Kobe if ever..

 

I think I know someone who has a Topps Chrome graded Kobe and AI and is selling it.. But I am not sure.. But yknow, hindi masyadong mahirap maghanap ng 1996 Topps Chrome RCs dito sa atin.. Case in point, I have an ungraded Topps Chrome RC of Kobe.. Meron sa tingin ko talaga kung ipapahanap kita sa mga ka-kilala ko.. I will try to ask around.. Hope you are willing to spend some of your savings..

Yup pare, sa Galleria (Courtside) ang lugar ng mga hobbyists (and sellers) every Saturday.. Wala na sa Virra Mall ang trade days.. Kung babalik ka sa hobby, baka magulat ka sa high prices ng boxes and packs.. Gone are the days of P80 packs.. At dahil bagsak na ang Skybox/Fleer at binili na ito ng Upper Deck (which happened last year).. hindi na ganung kadami ang products.. Topps and UD na lang sa Basketball pare at minsan binabalik ng UD ang Fleer/Skybox but very rare.. Syempre andun pa din yung College themed cards like Press Pass and Sage..

 

Iba na ang hobby ngayon dito sa Pinas ngayon.. A lot of people have stopped opening packs and just rely on sellers to sell them what they want.. Ngayon (if you back read sa collector's item thread) makikita mo dun yung mga posts ko na there is one guy who opens Php50.0M worth of cards per NBA season.. baka nga more than eh.. and sells those he feels are mediocre.. and I am telling you he only gets the high end Lebron James, Michael Jordan na 1 of 1.. or really rare/unpriced cards.. At mura lang niya binebenta ang mga considered "trash cards" niya.. Karamihan din sa cards ng mamang ito goes to e-bay.. where I also bid..

 

I bid on e-bay kaso sa mga tiga-Philippines lang (not e-bay.ph) para pick-up.. dahil ayoko ng international mail.. minsan nawawala at magulo ka-transaksyon minsan mga foreigners..

Going back to the topic.. the AI and Kobe Topps Chrome have really gone down considerably esp after Kobe was accused of rape.. It suddenly went up a little bit when he scored 81 points.. I do think stable na ang price ni Kobe at AI.. One more reason for the Topps Chrome brand to go down is the release of the Upper Deck Exquisite.. Kasi this is considered the holy grail of Rookie Cards.. Kasi one pack would set you $700.00.. but you are guaranteed one game used card, autographed, and one RC auto patch.. But still sugal eh kung makuha mo butaw, di ba? At sobrang rare ng cards dahil ang Top 5 RCs are numbered to just 99..

 

The price of a Lebron James RC from UD Exquisite (#d to 99) is at $10,000.00 pare.. And nagtatapos ito sa e-bay from 8500-9000 dollars.. So almost full book.. Much like Kobe's Pristine Graded RCs which went up to $3K before, LBJ's UD Exquisite RC can go down if ever he does not win any championships or gets injured before he ends his career.. Meaning ang cards ay talagang sugal.. And I am telling you if Kobe wins a championship without Shaq.. his cards can really soar..

 

Ang style kasi sa cards kung investment ang POV mo ay, buy cheap.. wait for the player to go boom and sell.. Kasi once a player reaches a plateau his cards would also go down a bit.. Look at Grant Hill's and Penny's cards.. Bagsakan yan except for the autographs.. but their RCs and inserts.. Bagsak!!! Why? Because of injury.. Tim Duncan won three championships but he was considered a boring player.. So his cards went up a bit but stabilized.. His autographs naman are very rare kaya full book sila usually..bihira yung mga tipong player na kamukha ni Jordan na full book ang presyo kahit sa mga inserts lang.. LBJ and Kobe have all the makings of the next hobby superstar next to Jordan but it all depends on their play, off-court antics and even injuries.. Sugal talaga pare..

 

IMHO, I do think that investment wise.. Maganda ang kumuha ng Kobe Topps Chrome kahit hindi pa graded.. The kid has tons of potential and is just nearing his prime.. For me, ngayong bumaba ang Topps Chrome RC ni Kobe, its high time to buy.. The Lakers-franchise is centered on Kobe (plus the Lakers is a hobby hot bed).. and I do think Kobe has the capability to explode and win some rings.. Kay AI? I think medyo mag-de-deteriorate na play ni Iverson.. Coz he is getting old.. I think stabilized na presyo ng mga RCs at autographs ni AI.. Si Kobe.. Volatile pare.. at hindi pababa kundi pataas..

 

But I do not make investments.. I am first and foremost a collector.. I just sell some stuff na na-doble ko or yung mga faded na autographs ko..

 

Nga pala.. Ingat ka sa Courtside.. Mas madaming "smackers" dun than collectors.. Ibig sabihin maraming manloloko dun.. I sold one TMac card there na faded na yung autograph.. Syempre I sold it cheap.. $100 for P700.00 dahil nga faded.. ngayon pag-balik ko last Saturday it was sold sa e-bay at $41.. dahil binura yung pirma na faded at finorge yung pirma.. hehehe!! That is how people are nowadays.. Will fool people just to make a few bucks.. :grr:

^^ kupalking, look at my post above rearding the Raymond Felton Exquisite RC.. Ganyan ang itsura ng mga Exquisite RC may patch at autograph.. Syanga pala.. yung nagbubukas ng Php50.0M worth of cards.. nagbubukas yan ng almost Php30.0M worth of Exquisites per year.. $700 per pack? Php30.0M? that should be a lot of cases.. Kaya naman ang dami niya talagang magagandang cards..

 

I hope you go back to collecting, dre.. coz its nice to go back nowadays.. the card companies provide autographs left and right plus tons of game used memorabilia.. :cool:

College cards (like Press Pass, Sage, etc.) do have value in Beckett.. If you want to see their values try buying the Beckett Quarterly and the Beckett Annual.. But college cards are not considered rookie cards.. they are just college cards.. and have lesser values than NBA themed cards.. But some autographs also sell high in e-bay like the Score Board Autograph of Kobe and the Tim Duncan Press Pass autograph, and others pa..

 

One card that I have always wanted is a college card.. This is the Tim Duncan/David Robinson autographed card from Press Pass - Double Threat.. Back to back sila nakapirma dito.. Haay! Up to now, wala pa akong nakitang ganitong card kahit sa e-bay pa..

$300 bili mo dun sa Hill.. Nakupo.. Pare nasa $60 na lang yung Gem Mint pare.. Sana kung refractor nasa $400 pa eh.. Gem Mint ni Vinsanity na SP Authentic RC ay nasa $400 na lang.. Wala na pare.. Pinatay si Vince nung lumipat siya sa Nets at naging malamya ang mga cards niya nung naging pangit ang attitude niya (naging cry baby kasi eh)..

 

Almost every Saturday andun ako sa Galleria pare.. This coming Saturday wala ako.. Wala pa akong nahanap na merong Chrome RC nina Kobe and AI.. Magta-tanong pa sana ako kapag nakapunta dun next Saturday eh.. I texted one of my friends kaso di pa rin nag-reply eh.. If you would look for me.. Revi is my real name.. With regards to the person who spends millions on cards.. Pare mayaman ito talaga.. I think he lives in Wack Wack and he drives a Sports Car - Benz pa nga daw.. I know him quite well but I never thought he is that rich before.. He sells his cards on several shops in Greenhills (Virra Mall), Ashcreek (near Xavier) and at SM Megamall.. He owns or is a part-owner of these shops.. where he would display his new items and we would literally flock them to get the first batch of his "trash cards".. pare ang gaganda ng trash nito.. I recently got a Tim Duncan Upper Deck Reflections Mirror Images Jersey which is numbered to 21 of 100. Pare, 1-0f-1 ano? #21 ang jersey number ni TD.. Taena naduling yata kaya natsambahan ko.. Karamihan dun basta mauna ako nakatabi na ang mga Tim Duncan.. atsaka kung mala-late meron na akong naatasang tiga-kuha..

I never stopped getting Rookie cards ever since.. Ang pinakapangit kong years ay yung kay Kenyon Martin, Tony Parker, at Ben Gordon.. Never liked kasi yung batch nila but I guess I should have invested heavily on some Dwight Howards, Luol Dengs and Ben Gordons.. Pag-sinabi kong pangit ang ibig sabihin nito kakaunti ang mga RCs ko na high-end..

 

AI autograph? I have one pare.. Nasa $120.. Got it for Php5,500.00.. But is not for sale.. I also collect autographs kasi pare.. the 50 Greatest players & the considered legends of the game na hindi included sa 50 Greatest like Dominique Wilkins.. Isa lang pwede na sa akin.. Halos lahat ng players na impact players meron ako autograph.. Kaso siyempre mahirap din makumpleto.. I still haven't bought any Lebron James autograph but I have already Jordan's.. Graded pa nga eh.. 9.0 yung card at Pristine 10 yung mismong autograph.. Got it for Php25K..

 

Try kita ihanap din ng AI auto.. Medyo madali lang makuha ito 3-4 months ago.. Kasi dahil dun sa brand na Topps Luxury Box but now mukhang binili na ng mga collectors..

In all actuality, mababa na talaga ang value ng jersey cards.. Why? Pare, nagkalat ang jersey cards.. dahil sa isang box may 1-3 guaranteed na jersey cards.. Kaya minsan parang inserts na lang turing sa jersey cards.. Kaya kung pangit ang player na nakuha mo, hindi mo ito mabebenta at a premium.. Some players like Shawn Marion, Dirk, Stephon mababa lang ang value pagdating sa jersey cards..

 

Ang hot ngayon ay autographed cards and patch cards (yung multi-color swatches coming from logos, names, etc.).. Mas madami kulay mas maganda at mas valuable..

 

Luxury box yung autographed card ko ni AI.. Sa Topps lang pumipirma si Iverson, exclusively.. Isa siya sa mga kakaunti ang napirmahan (as of now).. Kasi nga sa Topps lang siya pumipirma.. Tim Duncan is another player who is kinda rare when it comes to autographs.. Exclusive Topps din siya eh.. I have seven TD autos already.. I am planning to get 21 autographs for my personal collection..

Now on to your question regarding the new batch of rookies.. Well, IMO, Adam Morrison is the one that is being watched by most collectors.. Morrison was regarded as the next Larry Bird.. But unlike Keith Van Horn (named the 2nd Bird as well) can really shoot it deep and can drive strong to the basket..

 

Randy Foye's autographs are also soaring in e-bay because fans expect the TWolves to have a good showing with him, and KG there.. With Rashad McCants out for the season, Foye is expected to have lots of playing time..

 

Also, expect some rookies from the Bulls to show good.. Tyrus Thomas might be a good back-up to Ben Wallace.. Their Swedish born pick up Thabo Sefolosha is very hyped up.. But I doubt if he would be given enough playing time behind Ben Gordon or even Luol Deng..

 

Also, JJ Reddick.. Why? Orlando needs a shooter.. They have an inside presence in D.Howard.. a good PG in Jameer Nelson.. JJ Reddick might just be the solution to win.. Alam mo galing sa Duke si Reddick.. Ibig sabihin high profile siya na player.. and just might be for the hobby as well..

 

Sleeper rookie.. try Quincy Douby of the Kings.. Bwakaw itong player na ito.. and you know how people like "high-scoring" rookies.. Imagine him and Bibby playing side by side.. Guard din yata si Douby eh..

 

All in all, these are the rookies I expect to create an impact.. in the NBA and in the hobby.. but honestly, this year's batch looks like would just be somewhat like Tim Duncan's rookie season.. where only him and Tracy McGrady created much buzz in the long run.. If you would ask who to collect (as of now) it would be Morrison.. The Bobcats became high profile when Michael Jordan went in.. with a healthy Okafor, Felton and Sean May, Morrison might just light it up..

 

Last year's batch was not all bad.. If you don't like Chris Paul (as you say).. Well, I feel na Isaiah Thomas type si Paul na hindi masyadong malakas ang impact hobbywise.. Although his cards are soaring as of the moment.. Wait for 1-2 years.. They will all subside.. Remember Damon Stoudamire? Ang magandang kunin in last year's batch are Danny Granger and Raymond Felton.. Mababa pa ang mga cards nila and might be good in the long run --- investment wise.. Esp. Granger.. might be the missing link with all the problems Jermaine is having because of injuries.. My bet is Granger would be Indiana's go to guy in the long run..
