New York Knickerbockers

if we went by sheer $ alone (as in pera-pera lang ang laban), the Cavs have the biggest chance of signing the King since they can outbid anyone for his services.

any max contract from any other team tops out in the 120+ mil/5 year range (under present league rules and the CBA).

on the other hand, the Cavs---if they decide to pony up the dough---can come close to coughing up a package in the 140+ mil/6 years range.

ultimately, the choice to be made may rely on which club has the pieces in place to help him compete for a championship.

assuming that Ferry doesn't make any earth-shaking moves over the next few, LBJ's as good as gone.

and it will be the two NY area teams competing for his services (or at least, that's how it looks right now).

I'd say that the Nets probably have a better chance to get it done given the players they have (Devin Harris, an old VC, some promising young guys) and the flexibility that management has on its hands.

the Knicks just have way too many misfit/overpriced pieces right now that I don't really see them moving forward without Donnie Walsh holding a couple of fire sales.

but we'll see how the new regime handles its business and maybe, just maybe, Mike D'Antoni can make bball in the Big Apple fun again.

i think the reason why lebron, wade and bosh opted to sign "shorter" contracts (by today's standards) was because the CBA would be renegotiated before 2010. they're hoping that the increase in salary cap during that time would compensate for whatever difference their current teams and interested suitors would be able to offer or at least that's what i read during their last contract nego.

Tuloy na po ba ang lipat ng New Jersey Nets sa Brooklyn??? Athough close proximity po ang New York and New Jersey mag kaibang state sila dba? So hindi po valid yung 2 teams ng NY city sa NBA for the past decade, until mag move sila dun lang magkakatotoo.....

Speaking of storied franchise nasa NY po yung most storied American Sports Franchise, ang New York Yankees, and it rivals Manchester United in terms of worldwide appeal.

Peace :thumbsupsmiley:

actually new jersey is a funny state ... the southern part identifies itself with philadelphia .. tas the northern part identifies itself with new york ... so in all aspects the nets are a NY team .. their fans are from the same area .. their market share is part of NY .... the football franchises ...NY Giants and NY JEts play across the street from the Nets' stadium ... and teven in hockey the NJ Devils also take a share from the NY market...
