Nonetheless, some teams are named after a city where they actually do not reside. SaintPeter5858 Posted May 14, 2012 Share Posted May 14, 2012 They have now been renamed Brooklyn Nets and are now playing at Barclays Center effective April 30 after the NBA Board of Governors unanimously approved all the details. So New Jersey has no more NBA team just like Seattle. Most likely, the NBA will look for additional investors in the future for its expansion programs. They would need 2, one each for the East and the West to maintain the balance especially in preparation for the playoffs. They could still pick Seattle and New Jerseys as possible spots.
