His Airness Michael Jordan

Kung yung dehado team ni jordan nung 80s(especially nung 89 and 90) eh nagchampion eh hands down greatest player sya.

Walang kagulat gulat dun.

tanong ko lang...why did you expect jordan to beat his opponents in the 90's???...because he was so damn great, dominant and complete player that's why!!!

it's unfair to say that 90's teams were not competetive...nobody proved to be able to beat jordan in the 90's but that doesnt mean they're run off teams.

if the bulls were so good in the 90's its because jordan demanded it...his teammates were not handed to him in silver platter...the bulls organization had to work several years to build a championship caliber team around jordan... it toook them 7 years to finally assemble the winning team....when the other teams failed to match up with the bulls, it was their own fault.. when the teams were not able to defend the triangle offense, it was their own fault...when the teams succumb to pressure team defense led by jordan, pippen and rodman, it's their own fault...there are three rounds in playoffs before getting into the finals...the bulls opponents had several games to try and beat the bulls but they were not successful...hindi tumunganga yang mga yan habang pinapanood si jordan mag shoot...hindi umiwas yang mga yan pag nagdrive si jordan sa basket...am sure they tried their best..unfortunately for them, jordan was so damn great...

btw, following your criteria to be considered the greatest player then these would be your candidates:

1. willis reed of NY Knics

2. bill walton of Portland Trailblazers

jordan and bill russell are considered the top two greatest players of all time....etong dalawa na to galing sa teams na hindi dehado..these two were dominating the league during their times...

so following your criteria, are you saying that jordan and russell are both inferior to willis reed and bill walton?!?!?!?!?!

@edc: Re: Globalization of MJ

Bakit parating mo sinisisi ang cable and media sa globalization ni Jordan.. even during the time of Bird.. TV was there.. Bird will never do it coz he lacked charisma.. Jordan had the skills, the highlights, the dunks, the extra kick.. walang player na ganun..

Some quotes on players/coaches who once played against Jordan:

Isaiah Thomas (1997) - "the greatest player I've ever seen.."

Pat Riley (90's): "Sometimes you can build a team that could be a championship team, but you never win because you had the misfortune of being born at the same time that Jordan was. I don't think that anybody is going to win until Michael retires. I just don't. That's just the way it goes." - Comment: I think Riley was saying that when Jordan learned to have confidence on his team mates.. he became unstoppable.. and can never be beaten.. - ayan, Magic, Kareem, Ewing, Mourning was coached by Riley, Bird was not coached but Riley battled the Celtics all through-out sa 80's..

Hersey Hawkins: "I don't want him to retire either. I would love to have him a little while longer. I think what he stands for, his personality and his charisma, is so good for the league. But I've got to be honest with you. I like the guy, but he's held me back a lot. I could have had some rings if it wasn't for him." -- Nuff said!

Jerry Sloan: When asked what does Jordan have that makes him hard to stop: "His will." - Comment: Hindi talent ano? Kundi puso.. overwhelming at walang takot na magpakamatay para manalo..

----

How do we define greatness?

During the Bulls' 5th championship.. where Kerr hit that 3 point shot to break a deadlock from a pass to Jordan.. remember that? Ganda ano? But that's not what makes Jordan great..

Ito: In game 5 of that series, Jordan was nearly exhausted because of food poisoning.. hindi siya kumain ng buong araw before that game.. stomach flu eh.. diarrhea siguro.. Dehydrated.. Any player would have not performed or baka nga hindi pa maglaro eh.. But Jordan was different, he scored 38 points, and capped off that performance with a three pointer to unlock the tied game at 85-all.. naging 88-85.. After that kumapit siya kay Pippen dahil para daw siyang hihimatayin.. Dramatic you say? I say great..

This defines Jordan.. how he played the game.. how he improved kahit na-cut siya sa Laney squad nung high school.. how he improved all aspects of his game.. how he had charisma on and off the court and basically how he dominated basketball..

Can Bird top that, edc.. Then sabihin mo kung papaano? Bird may be talented.. maybe the greatest in some blind follower's eye.. like yourself.. but the icon Jordan will never be beaten by just a Bird.. Air Jordan is not just a legend.. unlike your Larry Legend.. he is an icon.. may rebulto yan.. bakit si Bird ba meron sa Boston na rebulto.. Baka ang patayuan ng rebulto dun si Bill Russel eh.. dahil isang katutak na championships ang ibinigay niya as player and even as coach..

NBA's Greatest Moments

"God Disguised as Michael Jordan"

On April 20, 1986, inside Boston Garden, Michael Jordan put on an unforgettable show.

VIDEO: Game highlights of Michael's 63-point game: RealVideo - 28.8+ | ISDN

Jordan was able to play in only 18 regular-season games in his second year in the NBA, after breaking a small bone in his foot in Chicago's third game of the year. Although he was encouraged to sit out the end of the season in order to make sure he was fully healed for the next, he insisted on coming back late in the season and led the Bulls to the 1986 NBA Playoffs.

It was in Game 2 of Chicago's first round matchup against the eventual NBA champion Boston Celtics that Jordan showed just how thoroughly he had recovered. In the hallowed halls of the Boston Garden, he set a playoff record by scoring an amazing 63 points against what many considered to be one of the greatest NBA teams ever. The Celtics won the game, 135-131 in double-overtime, and went on to sweep the Bulls, but Jordan's playoff record still stands.

"Michael was doing so much and so well, I found myself just wanting to stop and watch him -- and I was playing," said teammate John Paxson.

"I didn't think anyone was capable of doing what Michael has done to us," marveled Celtics ace Larry Bird. "He is the most exciting, awesome player in the game today. I think it's just God disguised as Michael Jordan

kung titingnan mo wala namang dominant center ang bulls noong 90's. wala ring silang true point guard during their championship run. but they still won 6 championships.

MJ, JUST LIKE BRET HART IS THE BEST THERE WAS AND THE BEST THERE EVER WILL BE!

I don't believe that phrase!

There will always be somebody BETTER. It doesn't stop at one point but evolves.

Kanya-kanyang panahon lang yan.

From Bill Russell, Chamberlain, Bob Cousy, Isiah, Magic, Bird, Jordan, Duncan, Shaq, etc.... To name quite a few.

:mtc: TAMA KA JAN BRO...JORDAN ALWAYS STRIVES TO IMPROVE HIS GAME THAT MAKES HIM ABOVE THE REST...SAKA WHEN HE ENTERS ON THE FLOR MAKIKITA MO KAAGAD SA KANYANG MATA YUNG DETERMINATION :mtc: ...

:thumbsupsmiley:  makasabat na nga po...that's what makes michael jordan great.he makes scoring look so easy that you will think na mababa ang quality ng mga players defending him.gary payton, john starks, bad boys of detroit, don't tell me na bobo sa depensa ang mga ito.

another thing i admire about MJ is he always strives to improve his skills.pag pasok nya sa NBA he is known to be more of a slasher/penetrator.pero as the years went by,he developed a mean 20-foot jumper that is so hard to defend against.

@Revi

Yung rebulto kahit sino pde magpagawa nun.

3 or 4 years pa lng sa NBA yan. Tapos yung expectation sa kanya grabe. (Remember pumasok sya sa NBA to contribute Right Away.

Tapos sasabihin baduy? Ang hindi ko maintindihan pag Bwakaw na player lalo na nung early years nila kobe and iverson hindi baduy. Maporma daw yung ganun!

Mas beauty yung makikita mo yung open man eh.

If you are really good your can make your teammates better. If you are only willing to pass the ball.
