Screwtape
After repairing my OS, tried reinstalling the free versions of AVG anti-spy and anti-virus seems everything looks ok now.Ay, meron pa palang isa.... It seems my firewall is not activated. How come? I've been tryong to follow instructions on how to activate the windows firewall pero the small warning sign on the bottom right keeps on popping up. Pero pag ina-access ko naman sya sa control panel mukhang ok naman sya...? There are viruses that prevent you from enabling a firewall, or actually attack firewalls and other anti-virus programs. It's nothing new, most of the new viruses do this exact thing the first time they run in a new host. Have you tried using other free ones like zonealarm, etc? Quote Link to comment

dj_flip03
Guys eto naman problem ng friend ko: Nag lock yung PC at nagpa-prompt for login password pero wla naman syang si-net na user password. We tried restarting the pc pero ganun pa din. All three users suddenly had been locked by we dont know what. May default password ba ang XP? The pc is not networked and we never the user password was disabled at first. Quote Link to comment

Someone knew that the account had no password so they logged in as the administrator, disabled the 2 other existing accounts, and then changed the password for the admin. Voila! I am not really sure if I should say this, but yes there are utilities out there that allow you to reset the administrator password for XP so that you dont have to reinstall. Quote Link to comment

Can't be sure though since I'm just guessing based on their names. I'll try to find it when I have time but I believe others can answer this faster. :headsetsmiley: Quote Link to comment

No dude, I think you got this wrong. His User Accounts setup is set-up for users not needing to type in a password upon startup. Before, everytime his pc would go to screen saver mode, all he has to do is press any key or move the mouse and just click the user and then it will no longer prompt him to enter a password. The pc was just in his room and we we're drinking at his room's terrace when it happend. Actually this prob also happened to me sometime ago, but all I have to do is reboot and its gone. When I'm able to go to my settings, everything is set-up accdg to my preference (no password needed). What I did one time was enable a password; when my pc locked-up and I tried my password it just wouldnt work. So I have to reboot again and then that time my password would work. My friend's problem is that even after reboot, nothing happens (still locked up). Could it be that a virus have caused this? Quote Link to comment

Once the PC locks up and you enter the password... what? Does it prompt you the "The system cannot log you in....." message? Then maybe you are just using a wrong password. Have you tried resetting the account? Quote Link to comment
