I did went through both CAT and ROTC.... CAT during high school was much more fun, kasi halos magkakabarkada kami, officer din naman at sa MP pa kami kaya hehehe, kung yung ibang kadete nasa arawan, kami ayun nasa lilim naghihintay ng mga mahihimatay sa init at kung anu-anu pa.

ROTC during college was hell and I mean it, that should be abolished wala talagang maidudulot na maganda. It's a waste of time, lalo na sa amin nuon na trisem, lintek me pasok kami until saturday tapos me ROTC pa sa Sunday.... Tapos kala mo yung mga opisyal eh feeling superEngot, anyway...right after I finished my ROTC, I nagpahaba ako ng buhok.... as an expression of "freedom".

CAT was ok.

ROTC was fair... mostly I hated it. /kaya nun last sem ko sa ROTC, nag volunteer ako maging guard duty para sa St. Paul contingent sa World Youth Day.

3 days kami naka station dun for 24 (or 72 total) hours then sa Luneta afterwards. And kapalit nun 3 days na yun pwede na kami hindi mag attend ng 10 or more so training days ng regular ROTC classes.

Bwahahaha.

Naka pasa na sa ROTC, enjoy pa mamboso ng mga tsiks sa sarili nilang school!

Stupid ROTC and CAt!!!

I do believe in the idea and Philosophy of ROTC and CAT!!! HOWEVER the manner the person who excuted the said exercise were all idiots and Stupid!!!

Practising in the middle of football field and jogging under the scourging sun, are also stupid!!!!

And do stupid treating you like a DOG doing sit-up while looking the sun are pretty dumb idea!!

I will not be shock later on what will happen to our Reserve officers.

That not a way to treat a cadet to develop nationalistic idea....

If ever I see that stupid officer I will be the one who will punch and treat him like a DOG!! jUSt happen before :)

i know many would disagree but i see the CAT & ROTC as useless and a waste of time.  some say it's a way to hone discipline. it's baloney. there are other hundred ways to develop self-discipline.  CAT & ROTC officership is just a scapegoat for low self-esteem students who enjoys a false sense of power. this is where they can get back at their adversaries since they can't do so in the real world. besides, with so much corruption within the organization, what credibility could they boast? WHAT DISCIPLINE? they themselves are corrupt so how would you expect someone to teach discipline when they themselves don't have any?

i never attended CAT & ROTC. i would never subject myself to false power.  ;)

I understand your sentiments. However not all officers are as bad as you think. When you're raised in a corrupt environment, naturally that's all that you see. I'm very proud that I became an officer during my ROTC days and it never occured to me that my superiors were ego tripping during my days as a sophomore. I pity your ROTC program was built on people with low self-esteem. I guess what they say is true... your character is defined with who you choose to be with. One other thing... "Its takes one to know one"

Just my 2 cents... :hypocritesmiley:

That is a very good example of abuse of power. To think of it high school pa lang sya at that time. And to be boastful with such shameful acts. Tsl tsk!

I fully respect the ideals and goals of the CAT/ROTC program. What made/makes the experience so mesirable are officers (both student and Tac-O) who enjoy they silly sado-masochistic games. Push ups and physical "punishements" are ok within boundaries where in nagkamali talaga ang cadete. Heck I was in the best shape of my life during the 4 years of CAT/ROTC sa dinami daming push ups na ginawa ko. But staring at the sun and other mindless punishments! I still blame them for my bad vision now! Most of them officers don't know any better because they don't have good examples to follow. What all that hazing during COCC promotes is just bloodlust do take vengeance upon the next batch of officer-wanna-be's.

I know that there are Tactical officers in this forum. Sana they would take heed. It is time naman siguro to change the methods of your training. These cadets are not your recruits, they are there because an old law required them to be there so they will have familiarity with the basic martial training. And when the time comes that their country needs them, they may hopely serve Her. No more passing of that blasted candy by mouth please. A cadet does not gain knowledge from such acts, all he gains from it is your choice of bacterial or viral infections.

I still support the program, what it just needs is a major overhaul of it's traditions.

CAT-1... Started out as an MP pero medyo mautak ako sa mga officers so they ended up doing push ups in front of me... buti nalang mahigpit ang hawak ko sa time-borad... until 2nd semester ng ihanay ako kabilang sakanila i graduated high school with a rank of 2nd Lt

ROTC... Kewl time of my life although mahirap u really learn the discipline... i stuck on managed to reach MS 43 pre CAD na... sayang di ko naituloy but still i enjoy a rank of capt. in the reserves

that time... screening sa M.P. (Military Police) i was not feeling very well (sick)! so sabi ng commandant, saturday (whole day) screening and physical exam! e that time, nakaratay ako! when the squad was formed the other week, laking gulat ko enlisted pa rin ako, samantala, merong mga aspirants di pumasa sa screening!

R.O.T.C.

M.P. ulit... buddy-buddy system sa round roving... i was eating a junk food... when suddenly an officer turned in a corner and we were there! i was on the right side of my buddy, and supposedly making an attention-salute... amfoootah, di ako sumaludo... kumakain pa rin ako ng junk food! nung tinitigan ako, saka ako sumaludo! sabi sa 'kin, magkita raw kami sa HQ after training... aba', bahala siya, tangna niya, di na ako pumunta!
