bring her to an ENT for ear check-up, kung ano lang ang naririnig nya,un lang ang matututuhan nyang sabihin.papa-hearing test din sya (play or other special test) to determine if her hearing is normal. un naman sa ilalim ng dila (tongue-tied) di naman masyado makakaroon ng effect sa speech nya but you can also have it released when you visit your favorite ENT-HNS.

When you said na wala naman ibang problems sa kanya, I'll just assume na okay ang motor function nya and everything else. By this time kasi medyo marunong na sya mag point sa objects and dapat sana kaya na nya yung mga "ma", "pa", etc. Children vary greatly in their speech development but I would be concerned if she reaches two years old and wala pa ring syang salita na alam. I would agree with otitismedia to have to niece checked by an ENT for hearing evaluation.

Super likot naman sya and healthy.

maybe better nga na ma-checked din ng ENT.

hmm an ent would be the best any anatomical problems that prevent her to speak freely.. and also..im just thinking if it would be beneficial to have clearance from a child psychiatrist or developmental just to rule out any possible developmental/learning problems...im not saying she is delayed but it would be beneficial in case...

I think it's better to refer the child to a developmental pediatrician after ENT evaluation and when he reaches the age of two with the same speech problems. So far, the kid is at par with the rest of the developmental milestones.

Just my two cents' worth. :)

My best bet is there is nothing wrong with your niece. The fact that she can verbally communicate and have good regard to her surroundings is a manifestation of intelligence. Of course a trip to a developmental pediatrician wont hurt, only your pockets will.

As to the tongue tie, does she have feeding difficultes? Does she have difficulty in mobilizing her tongue, sticking her tongue out?. If not, surgical intervention will not offer any significant benefit. Her inability to speak 2 syllable words is still part of a developmental process. It is not related to tongue tie or ankyloglosssia which is congenital. Tongue tie, if present, will not hinder the desire of the child to speak. Only the quality of phonation or voice is afffected by this condition. Usually letters n, t, d and l are affected.

I know how eager you are for her to speak up. But this eagerness might turn out to be a frustration which might be projected and affect the rearing of the child. Easy lang. My best advise is to let whoever is handling her speak to her most of the time so as to stimulate a social conversation. Dito may benefit ang may madaldal na yaya. Do not let her be glued to the TV as it is a passive exercise and does not incite a communicative response from the child.

My two cents worth,

PMd you.

please see your friendly neighborhood physician ASAP, he or she will be the one to give you the proper meds.

if you're from Pasay, you're in luck because they as far as I know, the city health unit has got that covered too.

as a reminder for everyone:

1) if something's bothering you a great deal---whatever it may be---please don't think twice about seeing your doctors.

we can dole out as much advice as you could ever want but ultimately, nothing beats an actual consult.

and,

2) if you can't BEHAVE, please, please, please...try to be SAFE.

Arnold,

It could be a condition we call Sciatica wherein the nerves supplying the sciatic nerve are compressed at the root in the spine. It is also quite often seen with patients with bulky wallets at the back pocket. The wallet sometimes compress the nerve at the buttocks area causing pain or sensory deficits. The symptoms are relieved by removing the wallet or shortly after standing, when the pressure over the nerve has been removed.

I suggest you consult with any of the following: an orthopedic surgeon, a rehab sprecialist or a neurologist. This condition falls in any of theise specialties.

Keep us posted for updates.

I am not in a surgical field but the presence of a mass (myoma) and pain is alarming. Please do not wait until she would require emergency OR.

Hello just want to input my opinion regarding the myoma uteri, the plan for surgery for myoma will really depend on the location or kind of myoma and the reproductive status of the patient..since you didnt include "who" had the myoma.. For your info sir..there are 3 layers of the uterus..the myoma can grow on any of these layers...for instance a myoma growing on the outer layer possibly can impinge certain structures in the pelvic cavity that may cause specific problems, same with myoma in the middle layer...at times the myoma may also grow in the inner layer sticking out on the endometrium or the lining of the uterus..in these cases there may be bleeding more often than not...and depending on the gravity of the symptoms, the gynecologist may offer you some treatment options basing on her judgement and ask her about the pros and cons... im not an ob gyne hope i helped a bit :)

Thanks mwah and xwhiteshadowz for your inputs.. ;) I need to tell it to my auntie.. Thank you again..

I just had my blood test results as part of my self-imposed annual p.e. I only have a few questions before seeing a doctor.

1. regarding my lipid profile, my total cholesterol is 4.8 (normal values is bet. 3.8 - 6.2). everything else are normal except HDL ratio which is 7.5. normal values is below 4.0. what does this mean?

2. my blood glucose is within normal level at 5.8. (normal values is 4.2 - 6.4) but my creatinine is 162.66 (n.v. for M is 60 to 120) and my uric acid is 0.57 (n.v. for M is 0.20 - 0.41). what is the implication?

3. lastly my SGOT is 31.20 u/l (n.v. up to 33); my SGPT is 42.17 u/l (n.v. is up to 33).

Does it mean I have problems with my kidney? or my urine? what doctor specializes concerning the above? urologist or internist?

For those in the know, thanks for taking time to answer. appreciate it a lot.

hi doc;

had sex with a whore just recently, of course i used a cd but after ejaculating i noticed that the cd broke, so, it was like having unsafe sex.

it's been four days now and am terrified of the consequences, i can take the ordinary infection which is easily curable, my worry is hiv/aids. my questions are, when should i have the check up? what are the chances of contracting hiv/aids?

thanks heaps!

Wizard23,

1. HDL is good cholesterol, this is better news

2. Creatinine is an indicator of your kidney function. However, certain conditions may cause it to be increased such as a state of dehydration. Although I would still be concerned, I would prefer to have it repeated.

3. Eat less shellfish, fats, beans, nuts, and easy on the alcohol as they increase your uric acid level

4. SGPT connotes a function of your liver, although elevated, I would just observe it.

Nowadays we dont use the term "Normal" Value anymore as normal is relative. It is more apt to call these as "Reference Values". The deviation from the usual values are just above borderline and I am not exstatic to do further investigation. Eating the right foods will improve your values.

As far as to which doctor you would consult with, I prefer you go to an internist as internal medicine is a subspecialty of its own. I am not a fan of compartmentalized medicine where one doctor just sees his specialty and not mind the other problems. For example, a nephrologist might tend to overlook some problems in the liver as he is more focused on the kidneys. An internist will synthesize all problems and treat you accordingly, taking into consideration your other problems. It comes out cheaper too as you only pay one doctor. They might just refer you to a sub-specialist if needed.

salamat po>>

Mukhang yung tinutukoy mo ay yung PPD or tuberculin test.

my GF complains of pain (hapdi) the morning after we had sex. the pain is in the vaginal area and is exacerbated by water when she takes a bath and washes the area the next morning. she already went to the OB but found nothing wrong. what do you guys think?

whats the problem with me? my lungs hurt everytime i cough

i dont smoke

there's blood whenever you cough hard ? then don't cough too hard (seriously speaking). when you force it, some blood vessels may break resulting in blood streaked sputum. have a CXR and consult an Internist or pulmo specialist. Very hard to make a diagnosis without examining the patient.

nasobrahan ata ? nagasgas lang siguro. try using lubricants to avoid abrasions around the vaginal area.

Sometimes, the vaginal wall experiences dryness by too much washing. Washing need not be vigorous as it removes the natural lubrication of the walls. Tell your girlfriend not to let guilt override what nature has provided in terms of vaginal health. He he

good day...in addition to what sir otitis and easyhard stated..maybe its also worth noting if your lady is having good lubrication during coitus or sexual act...there are times when they dry up a bit without you knowing..which may cause minute abrasion that may be missed on physical examination...if youre using condoms it may also cause friction to build up esp when she dries up a bit.. if your lady is on the pill it may also cause some kind of dryness...a water-based lubricant will be helpful in these scenarios...maybe it would be also helpful to note on how she washes her vagina or what kind of vaginal wash she uses...some may be unnoticeably irritating to her...and also you should also watch for any secondary infections that may happen if ever abrasions are present..hth

yep i agree on sir otitis...its better to have a consult for evaluation...the physical exam will be very helpful with confirmation of ancillary procedures...it wont cost that much too... lets just hope that everything will turn out great... :)

I would agree with the suggestions of sirs otitismedia, easyhard and xwhiteshadowz. That kind of irritation is usually brought about by inadequate lubrication, especially when you use condoms during contact (think friction and rubber in contact with raw sensitive skin). Aside from using applied lubricants during contact, I'd like to suggest Vitamin E supplements for your GF (around 600 - 800 iu daily). Studies regarding vitamin E and vaginal lubrication have been very promising. ^_^
