Generally, patellar or pre-patellar bursitis may be relieved by conservative means such as pain relievers and compress, avoiding stress to the knee cap. However, in extreme cases, aspiration of the affected knee may help.

I suggest you confer with your ortho specialist regarding this matter.

what about ACL tear?

does this really mean i can never play again? my dad said that some can still play before surgery and post actually have never played again.

also, it's very expensive to have surgery.

How much is the cheapest MRI here?

yes, you could play again, but you have to watch and take care of your previous injury. please note that it will only heal to about 80% of its previous strength, so the chances of a second tear are much higher. it also takes as much a 6 months for such an injury to heal properly. if i remember correctly, Cardinal Santos has the cheapest MRI available, and has the best available staff to read the results. not sure about the current rates though.

Any meds for heart enlargement? thanks

hmmmm, heart enlargement could cover a lot of problems and conditions. best would be to get a consult with a cardiologist for a work-up and he could start the meds.

Sir, thanks! What do you think about hilot? will it make my injury worse?

for dermatologists: how often should one use a loofah in a week?

I'm not a dermatologist (but I've been told a few times) that you shouldn't use loofah (nor washcloths or sponges) at all as you tend to do more harm than good to your skin.

I know it seems counterintuitive given how fussy we are with hygiene but mild soap and water is fine.

How much rest are needed after donating blood? I'm in a strict weight-loss regimen due to my obese 2 status.

Same as regular sleep, 4 hrs, depending on case to case basis, medical history related to blood,ex: ida or iron deficiency anemia etc.

Adaptation mate, Try to check up on PTs or physical therapists regarding your condition

being an alternative form of treatment, prolotherapy hasn't really been studied extensively enough so its application and use remain a bit controversial.

as such, a lot of what has been said about it comes more from "anecdotal" experience.

still, since it's out there, it has been used to treat a wide variety of ailments---from arthritic knees, to chronic low back pain and yes, ACL rupture.

of the few studies available, the ones I found a bit interesting were recent animal studies conducted by biomedical engineers which hinted the claims of "proliferation" may not really be as promising as some have advertised. there were also some older studies which seemed to support it but frankly, I'm just not sold.

just to put things in perspective, I don't think that you'll lose anything by going through with this---if you want to do it---but if it were my knee, in my opinion and based on the data available for surgery---I'd roll my dice with reconstruction.

Data vary from study to study but several that compared patients who underwent surgery and those who opted for conservative treatment (like prolotherapy) upon long-term follow-up noted significantly better outcomes for the former---including return to competitive sports.

The only rub here is that local orthopedic surgeons will likely have different approaches depending on which institutions abroad they acquired additional training from and of course, their own experience. so if you feel the need for a second, third or even a fourth opinion, don't think twice about getting one.

Ay sorry po, 3x a week kasi ako nagjo-jogging. So is it safe to say na 1 day rest is ok and I can resume jogging?

On a side note:

I was watching the series "HOUSE" and in one of the show, one of their patients liver is being infected raw? Hugh Laurie "Dr Gregory House" suggested to administer "sillymarin" to protect it. Di ba one of the main active ingredient ng food supplement na "Liver Aide" yun? Can anyone further explain this in laymans term if ever na totoo nga yung pinanuod ko? I was hoping kasi na most likely totoo ito since all these medical tv series stories base their cases in real medical experiences.

anybody familiar with stem cell theraphy for advanced breast cancer and if it is available here in the phil? (

High Dose Chemotherapy with Stem Cell transplant is not available in the Philippines.

The main principle with this modality of treatment is the use of high dosages of chemotherapeutic agents, higher than the conventional safe doses. Aside from killing cancer cells, chemotherapeutic drugs also k*ll normal cells including the blood forming cells we call stem cells. Being the case, some institutions toyed with the idea of infusing stem cells to a patient after receiving a high dose of chemotherapy so that the immune system will recover. As far as I remember, the results are not encouraging. Its use is mainly reserved for research purposes that is why only patients with advanced stages are allowed to take it.

bring her to an ENT for ear check-up, kung ano lang ang naririnig nya,un lang ang matututuhan nyang sabihin.papa-hearing test din sya (play or other special test) to determine if her hearing is normal. un naman sa ilalim ng dila (tongue-tied) di naman masyado makakaroon ng effect sa speech nya but you can also have it released when you visit your favorite ENT-HNS.

mga bro, ask ko lang if pano gamitin ang pills contraceptive . i and my gf had sex nung madaling araw, and bumili ako ng pills pero sabi sa papel nung pills, kelangan mo inumin yun pag malapit na period ng girl.. im confused.. pwede bang inumin na ng gf ko yung pills?

Contraceptive pills are usually taken on the day 1 of menstruation although some brands can be taken between days 3 to 5 of the period. However, there are specific doses for particular brands if you're going to use it for emergency contraception. And please think about using pills for emergency contraception because there are certain side effects that some women may not be able to tolerate.

I am not in a surgical field but the presence of a mass (myoma) and pain is alarming. Please do not wait until she would require emergency OR.

When you said na wala naman ibang problems sa kanya, I'll just assume na okay ang motor function nya and everything else. By this time kasi medyo marunong na sya mag point sa objects and dapat sana kaya na nya yung mga "ma", "pa", etc. Children vary greatly in their speech development but I would be concerned if she reaches two years old and wala pa ring syang salita na alam. I would agree with otitismedia to have to niece checked by an ENT for hearing evaluation.

Hello just want to input my opinion regarding the myoma uteri, the plan for surgery for myoma will really depend on the location or kind of myoma and the reproductive status of the patient..since you didnt include "who" had the myoma.. For your info sir..there are 3 layers of the uterus..the myoma can grow on any of these layers...for instance a myoma growing on the outer layer possibly can impinge certain structures in the pelvic cavity that may cause specific problems, same with myoma in the middle layer...at times the myoma may also grow in the inner layer sticking out on the endometrium or the lining of the uterus..in these cases there may be bleeding more often than not...and depending on the gravity of the symptoms, the gynecologist may offer you some treatment options basing on her judgement and ask her about the pros and cons... im not an ob gyne hope i helped a bit :)
