Trauma to the lower extremities, no - because the common iliac vein is located within the pelvis. An isolated iliac vein injury may occur kung swertehin ang tao ng isang projectile or with a sharp object. Otherwise, you would need to have severe pelvic trauma to rupture it - if it is ruptured by severe pelvic trauma, the patient will most likely have more serious problems - like a common iliac artery rupture! As Dr. Mwah has said, a negative =negative. If you still are not convinced, try consulting with a psychiatrist. They can help you with your anxiety. Easy Quote Link to comment

Definitely not. I am assuming that you are referring to a blunt injury and not a penetrating injury such as that from a knife. The location of the common iliac vein is at at the level of your umbilicus (pusod). Kaya sa palagay ko, medyo malayo na ang ini-isip mo. Seldom do you see vessel rupture, especially veins, from a blunt injury. You were probably referring to a femoral artery rupture. Easy Quote Link to comment

It is not the "haba" (length) that warrants a decision to close the wound by sutures (stiching). It is actually the depth. Malalim ba? Technically, kahit malalim ang sugat, it will heal by itself without being closed by sutures, but the cosmetic outcome might not be the same as a closed wound. The scar will be wider. And of course, the healing is longer. Furthermore, a clean closed wound has an added defense angainst future infection (kasi nga sarado na). What is important is he be given anti-tetanus shots (if he has no shots yet) and antibiotics to prevent infection. Of course, wound care is important. As any physician would advise, better have it checked. Do not be a quack doctor for other people. Easy PS. I could check the wound for your brother for free, just PM me. Quote Link to comment

The fastest remedy is wearing sun glasses, yung tipong Ariel and Maverick style ang lapad. Haha! But seriously, the most you can do is applying a warm compress after the 1st 2 days (I presume 24 hours have already passed). The discoloration due to the hematoma will completely resolve in at least a week or two. Quote Link to comment

I am sorry to break the bad news, you have to refrain from participating in activities which entails a lot of movement and strain to your knee, ankle and foot, sports included. There are a lot of conditions that may present with the symptoms you are experiencing, they are non-specific. And this forum will not sufficient to give you proper advice. I suggest you to be evaluated by an orthopedic surgeon. If you dont know any orthopedic specialist, PM me your location and we'll find a suitable and "trusted" specialist for you. If you're not prepared to get your girl pregnant, then better talk about other forms of contraception. Quote Link to comment

Jbenoit
If you have significant ST depression in your stress test, will it be better to just have an angiogram or take another test (scan or nuclear imaging) before taking an angiogram Quote Link to comment
rc36
mtc bros & MDs. i would like to get your opinion esp those cardio out there. im 38 yrs old male. last dec. 4, 07 i experienced a seizure, was hospitalized, diagnosed had a hypokalemia paralysis. my pb that night shoot up to 200 but was adviced for discharge after a cardio & neuro gave d go signal that im so far OK & no sign of stroke or whatever. i was prescribed by d cardio to maintain d mesds like micardis 40mg plus 1 for d am & 1 aspilet for noontime for 1 month. after a month, she requested a bloodchem lab test, threadmill stress test & to moniotor my BP & record. in short, d lab test indicated choles level at 287, tri high too, LDL above the normal range. during consultation she said im OK from cardio illness but d BP signs are OK. she prescribed back the micardis 40mg & aspilet for maintenance meds & lipitor for the liver. My, inquiry now is: Do I have to really maintain those micrdis, aspilet. considering that I think, are there any way to lower the choles etc. naturally like diet, exercise, enough rest. I heard from some friends that taking maintenance meds might affect the liver? Sir & Docs, in the thread, pls clarify to me whatever error in mby observation. thank u & more power to u all. Less invasive than the angiogram. mtc bros & MDs. i would like to get your opinion esp those cardio out there. im 38 yrs old male. It's been barely two months since you had that trip to the hospital. Just maintain your meds for now since you need to have good control of your BP plus you need to lower your cholesterol levels as well. Just because you're taking meds for your cholesterol doesn't mean that you have to do away with your low fat diet and exercise, right? You said your MD requested for baseline lab exams so I'm pretty sure she's monitoring your liver function as well. Quote Link to comment
