Time 2009-Manny Pacquiao

People Who Mattered Manny Pacquiao

Manny Pacquiao was considered a savior by two groups of people this year: Filipinos and boxing aficionados. For his countrymen, the diminutive (5 ft. 6 in. and change) pugilist once again proved that their archipelago could produce more than tales of violence, poverty and natural disaster — that there was some undefined quality that could produce a fighter of such speed, resiliency and charisma as to be a living legend. For boxing fans, Pacquiao defied physics, rising through six weight classes to win seven world titles — and galvanizing the sport like no other boxer in years. His two bouts this year were among the most dramatic in the sport: his second-round knockout of Ricky Hatton and his terrifying demolition of the rock-solid Miguel Cotto over 11 rounds. His visceral charm — or his bloody attraction — will continue into next year with his expected multimillion-dollar, hugely lucrative matchup against Floyd Mayweather Jr., the only fighter remaining who can claim to be his equal.

Unbeaten Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao will contest their megabout for Pacquiao's WBO welterweight (147 pounds) title on March 13 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, according to sources with knowledge of the decision.

"It's the MGM. It's definite," said a source.

The MGM was chosen over the Dallas Cowboys' Stadium, whose owner, Jerry Jones, had offered $25 million to host the bout. The promoters of both fighters, however, had indicated that they felt the MGM's offer could surpass that of Jones.

The choice of the MGM Grand, whose deal specifications are unclear, is largely based in both fighters' familiarity with the location as well as their past success there.

News conferences already had been planned for Jan. 6, followed by one in Los Angeles two days later on Jan.8, the sources indicated.

Both Pacquiao (50-3-2, 38 knockouts) and Mayweather (40-0, 25 KOs) were in agreement in principle with all of the fight deal's negotiation parameters, including a 50-50 financial split, competition at the 147-pound limit, eight-ounce gloves, and an Olympic-style random drug test at the request of Mayweather's camp.

Mayweather, a 32-year-old who is being represented by Golden Boy Promotions' Richard Schaefer in the negotiations, is a five-time champion, with a 6-0 record at the MGM that includes two knockouts.

The 30-year-old Pacquiao, a winner of seven crowns in as many weight divisions, is 3-1-1 at MGM.

Last week, The Los Angeles Times, citing a source involved in the site talks, spelled out a scenario in which the MGM Grand would generate $28 million in live-gate sales, offer 40,000 closed-circuit seats through MGM/Mirage properties, and charge $100 a head for a possible $4 million surplus -- a total worth of around $32 million.

Why Are Golden Boy & Floyd Trying To k*ll The Fight?

Published by Scoop Malinowski on December 22nd, 2009

Print This Post | Email This Post | RSS

Manny Pacquiao has already agreed to drug tests before and after the March 13th fight, isn’t that enough for Golden Boy and Floyd?

It is public knowledge that Roy Jones, James Toney and others have tested positive for substances after fights through the established testing system . If Manny Pacquiao is on a performance enhancer isn’t the current testing system reliable enough to detect and capture him – if he is cheating?

Why is Golden Boy and Floyd doubting the current testing system which has proven to work – are they indirectly accusing Pacquiao and the Nevada State Athletic Commission to be capable of CORRUPTION?

Was Richard Schaefer or Golden Boy involved in the selection of the judges of the Guzman-Funeka fight in Quebec City?

Are the actions of Golden Boy, Richard Schaefer and Floyd consistent with an entity that wants to stage “Boxing’s Super Bowl”? Or would they prefer to k*ll the fight and stage a 10-round sparring session between Floyd Mayweather and Matthew Hatton?

Why won’t Golden Boy and Richard Schaefer and Floyd Mayweather demand and accept a urine test 48, 36 or 24 hours before the fight? Why must it be a blood test – is this their last and final way to k*ll the fight, except for Floyd coming up with another rib injury?

Are Golden Boy and Floyd hoping that by drawing blood from Manny Pacquiao within 24 or 48 hours of the fight, that this never before used tactic (to the best of my knowledge) in boxing history could have a minute but mental and physical effect on the strength and punch force of Manny Pacquiao in the fight? Could the loss of blood be their way to try and negate the vaunted power of the Filippino, which they fear?

Why did Bernard Hopkins and George Peterson previously say on the record that they believe the Pacquiao vs. Mayweather fight will NOT happen on March 13? Are they privy to secretly planned insider information?

Does Golden Boy and Richard Schaefer know that Floyd Mayweather is a “psychological coward” who will never fight any man who has a chance to brutally beat him to a bloody pulp, and therefore must DO ANYTHING to protect their scared fighter from a signing a contract that could lead to a devastatingly brutal knockout loss, so therefore they can continue to try and milk him with safer handpicks like Matt Hatton in order to fulfill a five-fight contract?

Where is Matthew Hatton lately and why has he not spoken to anyone from the boxing media?

Is Golden Boy standing on the edge of the financial cliff and knows it must protect it’s only significant asset of Mayweather from taking part in a fight that would destroy his career, his confidence and his future drawing power?

Do Golden Boy and Richard Schaefer look at Manny Pacquiao in total awe and dream about promoting such a wonder of the world type superstar? Do Golden Boy and Richard Schaefer ever compare Floyd to Pacquiao in terms of charisma, personality and drawing power and enviously conclude Top Rank is holding a bag of GOLD while they are holding a bag of **** in comparison?

Did Golden Boy or Richard Schaefer have anything whatsoever to do with the selection of the judges of the Guzman-Funeka fight?

Since the devastating KO of Miguel Cotto, has Floyd Mayweather carried himself like an ultimate warrior with supreme confidence, eagerly waiting to take part in the biggest event in boxing history? Or is Floyd acting like a frightened coward, desperately trying to set up block after block to prevent the fight from ever happening?

Why did George Peterson, who works with Floyd advisor Al Haymon, as they together guide the career of Paul Williams, insist with vehemence and certainty on December 2nd in New York City

that the Pacquiao vs. Mayweather fight “isn’t gonna happen” because some fights are “not meant to be made?”

Does Golden Boy and Floyd Mayweather fully realize that Manny Pacquiao can’t be beaten by a manufactured illusion with fast fading skills and confidence and therefore must resort to the ridiculous ploy of drawing blood from the man’s body within 24 or 48 hours of the biggest event in the history of the sport?

Does Golden Boy fear seeing it’s THIRD high value asset in a row lose by brutal knockout to Manny Pacquiao and therefore to ensure the survival of the company must protect it’s already psychologically beaten fraud (no win situation) from the certain defeat?

Does Golden Boy see Pacquiao vs. Floyd as a NO WIN SITUATION?

Why does Golden Boy and Floyd Mayweather feel the desperate need to randomly test a one-dimensional fighter, who as Floyd stated, “Knows he can’t beat me” though the said figther is willing to be tested before and after the fight?

By demanding and employing Olympic style testing and not the customary Las Vegas procedure, are Golden Boy and Floyd Mayweather implying that the Nevada State Athletic Commission will use CORRUPTION and FOUL PLAY to benefit Manny Pacquiao on March 13?

And one more time: Did Richard Schaefer or Golden Boy HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE SELECTION OF THE THREE JUDGES OF THE GUZMAN-FUNEKA FIGHT?

After Pacquiao knocks out Mayweather, just what assets are Golden Boy left with? And how much revenue can they generate with Hopkins and Mosley who, despite being top rated pound for pound fighters, have each been mysteriously inactive for over a year each?

Pacquiao doesn't mind shedding blood, but prefers his opponents (AP Photo)It is being widely reported that Manny Pacquiao is refusing to comply with Olympic style testing before his bout with Floyd Mayweather. This isn't exactly the case, and in actual fact Pacquiao has said that he only wants to give blood before the presser for the fight and then after the fight has happened.

This seems to be a pretty fair request given that Pacquiao will be preparing for the biggest fight of his life. Not to mention that the vast majority of banned substances will still be detected within the time frame he has offered the same as they would if he were tested at any other time.

This is at odds with the common practice of the testing which Golden Boy and Mayweather and team are asking for because that testing is typically done randomly. Randomly being whenever they (The United States Anti-Doping Agency) choose, before and after the fight. Conceivably they could demand a blood sample when Pacquiao is cutting weight for the weigh in for example, which could potentially be very disruptive to his preparations.

By all accounts Manny has a phobia of needles, which is why he isn't keen on having his blood drawn at a moments notice at anytime before the fight. The fact that Mayweather is insisting on this seems to suggest that he and his team are using this as a pressure tactic to try to throw Manny off and make him lose his focus. Mayweather Jr himself has this to say:

"I understand Pacquiao not liking having his blood taken, because frankly I don't know anyone who really does," said Mayweather. "But in a fight of this magnitude, I think it is our responsibility to subject ourselves to sportsmanship at the highest level. I have already agreed to the testing and it is a shame that he is not willing to do the same. It leaves me with great doubt as to the level of fairness I would be facing in the ring that night. I hope that this is either some miscommunication or that Manny will change his mind and step up and allow these tests, which were good enough for all these other great athletes, to be performed by USADA."

What Mayweather doesn't mention here is that the Nevada Athletic commission tests are the only ones which athletic contests are legally required to abide by. This extra testing is something that Mayweather and Golden boy have cooked up because of the baseless accusations being thrown about by a few voices in the boxing media such as Mayweather Sr. and Kermit Cintron.

Pacquiao-Mayweather fight in jeopardy

Mayweather camp demanding Olympic-type drug testing leading up to bout

Manny Pacquiao's upcoming bout against Floyd Mayweather may not happen after all.

updated 7:24 p.m. ET Dec. 22, 2009

LAS VEGAS - The proposed megafight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. was thrown into jeopardy Tuesday with a demand by Mayweather’s camp that both fighters be subjected to Olympic-type drug testing in the weeks leading up to the bout.

Mayweather’s manager said the fight would not go on if Pacquiao didn’t agree to blood testing under standards followed by the United States Anti-Doping Agency.

“There is no fight without Olympic-style random drug testing,” Leonard Ellerbe said.

Mayweather’s camp claims it was told Pacquiao would not agree to have his blood tested within 30 days of the fight because of personal superstitions. Pacquiao’s promoter, Bob Arum, declined comment about his fighter, who is in his native Philippines.

The fight, which promises to be the richest ever, had widely been expected to be formalized this week, with an official announcement Jan. 6. It was expected to be held at the MGM Grand hotel, with the biggest live gate ever.

But neither fighter has signed formal contracts and there have been disputes between representatives of the two fighters ever since Mayweather’s promoter pulled out at the last minute of a trip to Texas, where Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was to make a proposal to host the bout.

But Mayweather’s promoter, Richard Schaefer, said all other issues have been agreed upon.

“The good news is we have agreed on all the other points,” Schaefer said. “Depending on what Manny Pacquiao decides to do we either have a fight or we don’t have a fight.”

Schaefer said he is still hopeful of the fight happening, based on the fact Pacquiao himself has not publicly said he would not accept blood testing.

“I am still hopeful because I really believe this decision didn’t come from Manny Pacquiao, it came from somebody else,” Schaefer said. “It’s up to Manny Pacquiao to prove me right or wrong.”

Pacquiao has never failed a post-fight urine test in Nevada, including his last fight when he stopped Miguel Cotto. Mayweather also has passed urine tests in the state after his fights.

Fighters, though, are not routinely tested before bouts for performance-enhancing drugs, and there are no blood tests done for those drugs.

Mayweather’s father, Floyd Sr., said after the Cotto fight that he suspected Pacquiao was using performance-enhancing drugs to move up and win titles in so many weight classes. Ellerbe did not make that claim, but said that for a fight of such magnitude fans deserve to be confident neither fighter is cheating.

“If it’s good enough for LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Michael Phelps and Lance Armstrong why isn’t it good enough for Manny Pacquiao?” Ellerbe asked. “The fans and sports deserve a level playing field.”

Travis Tygart, executive director of the USADA, said he had talked to representatives of both fighters about providing testing. Tygart said he welcomed the request as he would for any sport that does not have stringent Olympic-type testing.

“I think every sport that wants to have clean athletes it’s a sign of a step forward to have out of competition testing,” Tygart said. “It’s an essential thing to do if you want to protect the integrity of the sport. Clean athletes want a level playing field.”

Tygart noted Olympic athletes are tested often and without notice. He said less than a teaspoon of blood is removed out of an average of 380 teaspoons in the normal human and that it regenerates within an hour of being withdrawn.

Blood tests, he said, can find things urine tests can’t, like the use of human growth hormone, synthetic hemoglobin or blood transfusions, all of which “certainly would aid in an endurance-type event.”

Ellerbe said he couldn’t imagine why Pacquiao wouldn’t agree, especially considering both fighters would likely make more than $25 million for the bout.

“Only Manny Pacquiao can answer that question,” Ellerbe said. “The ball is in his court.”

tinamaan ng lintek itong si Gayweather!!!!

nabading na talaga!!!!!!! umatras!!!!!!!!

DUWAG!!!!!!!!
