PacMan's Corner

nagpunta dito si JMM and may lumapit sa kanya to endorse a rival beer brand sa brand ni Pacqui. pero after that interview, parang nawalan ng gana ang advertiser. ayaw yata nila sa isang sourgrape.

unlike pareng Erik, tanggap na talo shah and fought like the gentleman warrior he is known for. and he got the respect and admiration of the pinoy fans for this, good enough to do a few commercials here.

But if you notice in the end, it showed www.nike.com.ph. Maybe MP was just inserted to the original and really not shown internationally.

Doubt it. There were actually press releases during his training stint that Nike U.S.A. was going to do the shoots at the Wild Card Gym for their global campaign. Although he is part of a global ad campaign, I'm pretty sure that there is more than an additional push for him in the Asian and Philippine market where he is supposed to be more recognizable.

:thumbsdownsmiley:

Biggest first-day sales of Pacquiao fight set

Top Rank promoter Bob Arum said that over 7,000 tickets at the Mandalay Bay Resort Hotel & Casino were sold last Saturday for Manny Pacquiao’s WBC lightweight title fight against defending champion David Diaz in June.

"The box office people report the tremendous demand for tickets was the biggest first-day sale for a Manny Pacquiao fight ever, and they had to limit sales to eight tickets per customer," Arum was quoted as saying by Philboxing.com.

Arum said they will hold a formal press conference announcing the fight on May 3 in Los Angeles.

"I didn’t want to hold it earlier because I didn’t want Manny to go through the inconvenience of coming to the United States for the press conference, flying back to the Philippines and then coming back for training." He said.

Pacquiao will go straight to training at the Wild Card Gym of Freddie Roach shortly after the press conference.

Diaz an ‘unusual fighter’

Even as he described Pacquiao as "faster than Diaz and has a lot more skills", Arum said that Diaz is "a very unusual fighter."

"He is very rugged, he is very, very determined," Arum said, "Diaz has a chin like iron, and it’s impossible to win over him by knockout."

Arum predicted that Diaz would not hesitate to go toe-to-toe with the Filipino.

"Unless Manny is in unbelievably great shape, he won't be able to go twelve rounds," he said.

Arum described Diaz as "one of those over-achieving fighters who will stay to the bitter end", and more often than not, pull off a victory.
