PacMan's Corner

Oscar Larios lost his last fight against Israel Vazquez for the super bantamweight title in December via 3rd round TKO.  Larios moving up in weight. Guess who trains Vazquez? ? ?  You got it - Freddie Roach.

Easy picking for PACMAN.

Vasquez was a regular spar mate of Pacquiao ever since he started training with Roach. Vasquez probably got tougher putting in all those rounds with Manny. He surely showed what he's made of when he took over Manny's former IBF title when the latter moved up to featherweight.

Pacquiao et al. delay flight; airline staff irked

FILIPINO boxing champion Manny Pacquiao earned the ire of Philippine Airlines staff yesterday after he held up a PAL flight to Hong Kong and did not appear to be the least bit apologetic about it.

He was also a no-show for the preliminary investigation yesterday of a case brought against him by a former lover seeking support for a 2-year-old boy he had reportedly fathered. Instead, he sent a lawyer to work out a settlement.

An airport source told the Inquirer that Pacquiao, his wife Jinkee and two sons arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Centennial Terminal four minutes before their flight’s scheduled departure at 8:10 a.m., delaying it by another four minutes.

“Despite the time, Pacquiao simply sauntered into the airport with his family in tow. He wasn’t in a hurry at all, considering that he was already very late,” said the source, who requested anonymity because the airline had yet to make an official report on the incident.

“Inis na inis yung mga taga-PAL at immigration (PAL and immigration staff were very annoyed),” said the source.

Champ didn’t smile

An eyewitness said Pacquiao, who was wearing a striped long-sleeved shirt and denims, looked “serious” and did not smile at the people around him.

Immigration officers had to “fast-track some immigration procedures” to accommodate Pacquiao and his family in the business class section of a fully booked PAL flight PR 300.

“This incident got a lot of people thinking if all the fame and adulation heaped on Pacquiao had already gotten to his head,” the source said.

Aide fell on his butt

The incident was aggravated by the behavior of a certain Bernard Cloma, a member of Pacquiao’s entourage of some 20 people who introduced himself as a “producer,” the source said.

Cloma reportedly argued with the PAL customer service agent who informed him that check-in counters for the flight had to close at 7:45 a.m. according to airline regulations.

The agent also suggested that Pacquiao and his family take the 10 a.m. flight to Hong Kong instead.

“(Cloma) said it was not possible. He even dropped the name of (PAL owner) Lucio Tan, saying that he (Cloma) was the one who invited one of Tan’s children to be a judge in a prestigious beauty contest,” the source said.

Pacquiao, his wife and sons, Cloma and three other people in his entourage were the last eight persons to board PR 300.

The source said the group was in such a hurry to get on the flight that Cloma slipped and fell on his behind at the boarding gate, to the amusement of the people watching.

Pacquiao knocked out Mexico’s Erik Morales in January in a scintillating win that earned him the adulation of the entire nation and a record multimillion-peso deal as an endorser of San Miguel Corp. products.

Lover takes swing

He was immediately hit by a scandal.

Joanne Rose Bacosa, who claimed she had an affair with Pacquiao for two years, appeared at yesterday’s hearing at the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office, demanding support for her child who she insisted was the boxing champion’s son.

The 24-year-old Bacosa is seeking a dollar trust fund for the boy equivalent to P25 million, a P2.5-million house, a P75,000 monthly allowance with retroactive effect, and education and medical expenses, said a lawyer, who requested anonymity because of his involvement in the litigation.

Bacosa also demanded use of Pacquiao’s name for the child, to ensure his legitimacy and future rights, and P1 million in litigation costs.

“We are open to a possible settlement when the time comes,” Pacquiao’s lawyer, Jose Crisostomo, told reporters after the 45-minute private hearing.

Bacosa smiled to reporters when she came out but did not talk to them. With a report from Nancy Carvajal

That's what Bernard Cloma does for a living "name drop". Pacman should learn to be a WISEMAN or else he'll become a POORMAN.

Pumila na si Barrera....

Now, Barrera wants 2nd crack at Pacquiao

EITHER IT’S the hunger for revenge against his Filipino tormentor Manny Pacquiao or the lure of another megabuck payout.

Whatever the reason, Mexican super featherweight king Marco Antonio Barrera now wants to defend his World Boxing Council crown against Pacquiao, who humbled him in 11 rounds in their first showdown in 2003.

WBC president Jose Sulaiman, in a faxed message addressed to Pacquiao, manager Shelly Finkel, promoter Gary Shaw and Games and Amusements Board chair Eric Buhain, yesterday revealed that Barrera had contacted the WBC office to announce his readiness to face Pacquiao soon.

The champion’s offer came as a surprise to the Pacquiao camp. The Filipino ring hero is still savoring his decisive Jan. 21 victory over another Mexican legend, Erik Morales, and is being lined up to fight Oscar Larios on June 25 at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

Pacquiao dealt Barrera a terrible beating in November of 2003, downing him in the third round before

the stoppage in the 11th following another knockdown.

“The WBC super featherweight champion of the world, Marco Antonio Barrera, has contacted the WBC to let us know that he is ready and willing to make his WBC mandatory defense against Manny Pacquiao,” Sulaiman said in his letter.

“It is absolutely necessary that you inform us within seven days, as requested before, if you accept the official challenger position and if you are ready to fight Barrera for the WBC superfeatherweight championship.”

Buhain said he would call Pacquiao’s men, saying: “This is the biggest event we have been waiting for to transpire.”

Barrera was scheduled to challenge International Boxing Federation lightweight champ Jesus Chavez on March 25, but the bout fell through after Chavez suffered a torn muscle in his left bicep that requires surgery.

A rubbermatch with Mexican Erik Morales has been set for Sept. 16 in Las Vegas, but now that Barrera, also the IBF superfeatherweight titlist, has come into the picture, Pacquiao may have to choose whom to fight after his bout with Larios.

Manny Pacquiao is a disgrace period. He might be one of the best boxer in the world but as a husband and a parent he is nothing but a failure. His wife giving him full support and comfort is only for "show". Its all about the money...... I just hope he will stop acting/playing as a hero to the Filipino people. Ayusin muna nya ang buhay nya before asking us to unite. Instead of accepting publicly that the girl is his mistress, ang sabi nya pa one night stand lang daw and he was drunk. What a lame excuse.

let me guess. Anti - arroyo ka no....pati ba naman si manny pinopolitika na rin hahahahahahah
