Singapore Travel - Hidden Secrets

Recommended Posts

if you only have 1 day to go to either universal or go around sentosa, universal would probably be the better choice.

going around sentosa, you will encounter an ocean park that is not unlike the manila oceanarium, a man-made beach that is far from the gorgeous beaches that we have here, and other attractions that will probably fail in comparison to those present in universal.

however, you could probably squeeze in both attractions- universal and sentosa, in one day owing to the fact that universal sg is reportedly very small, and is located within sentosa.

Universal Studios is very small. Try going there on a weekday though, para walang tao and walang line. If there are no lines in the ride, you can watch/ride/view all of the attractions of Universal Studios in half a day or from 10am until mga 2pm (with repeats na yan of your favorite rides - hehehehe some rides are really awesome like the "Revenge of the Mummy").

That gives you time to go to Sentosa. In Sentosa, you could skip some of the rides and 4D magic of Sentosa. Instead you should try the sentosa luge and of course the "songs of the sea" is a must. Songs of the Sea shows at 7pm (i think) and a second show at around 8pm (i think).

Important thing to do is to get the schedule of shows so that you can manage your time well. If you have the schedules, you can fit in Universal and Sentosa in one day.

Here are some pictures of the final race....

Damn, the cars where so fast it was hard to get a good shot. Tried playing with the shutter speed and apperture of my cam.... still no effect. :(

Makes me want to study photography, sayang kasi. Wasn't able to get that many good shots of the actual race. Sa grid formation lang medyo nakakuha ng good shots. The sound of the cars really were loud, and the smell of gasoline and burnt tires... add to the excitement of the race.

I'm on this spot too. Di kaya nakatabi kita? I also took pictures on a digicam, had shots same as yours.

20 SGD bayad to go up MBS!

anong cover ng 20SGD? gala ka lang sa taas ng MBS?

Hahaha baka nga magkatabi tayo. Am in front of the railing sa race. Where you alone? or were you part of the group of 4 to 5 Filipinos?

20 SGD covers going up their observatory deck, where you can see pretty much all of Singapore CBD. (Same view from Singapore Flyer).

It also covers going around parts of the pool/garden (but you can't swim).

Thats just it. Just for the experience lang pero I wouldn't go back up there again.

ah ok, I heard from my client that MBS is like Mall of Asia in Pasay. malaki ang madaming tao. during F1, i think i was the only Pinoy without a company on that spot. hahaha. yeah, 2-race day akong mag-isa.

I'm going to Singapore in February to attend an event and will be staying there for three days and two nights. How much pocket money do you think I should be bringing? I'm not really looking forward to shopping that much. Most likely pasalubong lang bibilhin ko. I'm more curious how much I should budget for meals, entrance fees to tourist spots and public transportation. Do you think a budget of $100 USD per day (or $300 USD for my entire stay) will be enough? I will be travelling with two other companions.

well, if i may bro...

meals would probably cost you around 4-5 SGD, depending on the place you're going but "carinderia type stalls" charge that amount...kasama na drinks dun which is about a sing dollar...

as for transportation, it's easier to navigate through the MRT...since the stop overs are very well explained, i just have a hard time navigating through the bus routes though....

as for shopping pasalubongs, go to BUGIS -- they have key chains that costs you 18 pieces for 10 SGD, SINGAPORE T SHIRTS costs 3 pcs for 10 SGD, XL size and 4 pcs 10 sgd for s,m and L sizes..

also, if you're going to GEYLANG LOR 18, damage is 80 sgd all in all (condom, room and tip) for 45 minutes...

hth bro...

In Orchard, there are meals at $5, drinks at $1.25. If you plan to go out at night, beers I think is now $15+. bottle of vodka, whiskey in a club starts at $70, a glass is about $25. If you can't afford to go to Bugis for the pasalubong you can go to Lucky Plaza as an option, its along Orchard, across Wisma Atria. or sa CHinatown.

For tourist spots, where do you wanna go? USS is around $72-80,(around that range when i purchased my ticket) one day weekend pass. The bird parks, zoo, night safari (kung trip mo lang naman) is $58.

Your top-up card (mrt card) will really depend on your itinerary... I used to top up $20/day, but I go places and I use the bus most of the time. For me $100/day will also depend on how and where will you spend it. I always budget my trip just like you, at $100/day but I end up spending toooo much!
