  1. MAX's more attuned with the times. Food Quality, Price and Service orientation. I still go for their Original Chicken Dinner.

ARISTOCRAT ay parang napagiwanan na. Parang 60's and 70's parin ang dating ng Food nila in terms of presentation, serving sizes, taste ( down end lutong bahay lang) and their PRICES are relatively high. Kung Pilipino food ang dami ng mas masarap ang dating. Ang binabalikbalikan ko lang dito ay yung BBQ Chicken nila with Java Rice and their Special Sauce. Even that is turn off na rin, dahil you eat in a CASUAL DINING restaurant then they serve the sauce in PACKETS. Parang FAST FOOD hehehe. Tapos hindi ka pa makahingi ng EXTRA, may bayad daw. Actually, that kind of DINING EXPERIENCE goes even to all their affiliated restaurants like AlexIII, Serye, Reyes BBQ, etc.

  2. You are right, people here associate quantity with quality. Maybe that's the reason for the proliferation of Eat All You Can and Buffet Style Restaurants. From the P99 neighborhood restaurant to the likes of the P4999 ++ Spirals and all the ones in between. However, it can also be said that food serving portions are generally small in restaurants. The P99 Mang Inasal with just 1 rice is just good enough to satisfy your hunger until the next eating cycle. Hahahah. Actually that is a very healthy option, except when you start drizzling your rice with the garlic oil. Then you are in big trouble. hahahaha

  3. By the way, the key to a stricted type of diet is take everything in moderation. Over a period of time, your taste and palette will also adjust. In my case, everything from oil, fat, sugar, salt, beans, certain seafood high in purine, food high uric acid and fatty red meats and even some vegetables like eggplants, ampalayas etc. are restricted or should be taken in strict moderation. Also remember, that you have to LIVE LIFE TOO, Shouldn't we EAT to LIVE, and not LIVE to EAT? C'est la vie. Such is Life! Hahahaha

  4. This is my dilemma too. I learned how to scan the menu of any restaurant and pick the healthiest among what they offer. Ang problema is usually, the salads are not the best for the price. I always get good salads from CYMA and KOUZINA. Of course, they say that Mediterranean Cuisine is the healthiest. At SM Aura Food Court on the 4th flr, got several restaurants that offer a variety of healthy selections. At Rockwell Plant Mall, I tried Wholesome Table for their organic food, I was quite disappointed. For a restaurant that is focused on Fresh and Organic ingredients, the vegetables were wilted and the salmon was very fishy tasting. Mas masarap pa na maka tiempo ako ng very fresh vegetables and very good cuts of Salmon Steaks sa Rustan's Fresh or sa Marketplace nila, then I make my own salads and grill or bake my own fish. Their Salmon go for about P700/kg and they have promo for buy 1 kg and get 1/2 kg. free. Very thick slices of Fresh "Norwegian" Salmon daw. 1 kilo would be about 6 to 8 slices so the promo the 6 becomes about 9 and the 8 becomes about 12 pieces. Kaya lumalabas ang isang slice less than P100. A little salt and pepper lang. The best bargain are the Salmon Belly for about P350/kg. Andaling iSinigang with Mustard Greens, Kangkong or Malunggay. Pwedeng paksiw din. Hahahaha

  5. Any recommend food hubs na they serve healthy food, meaning less oil, more gulay and the likes but masarap pa din. Langyang fatty liver kasi to, bawal na daw matataba. Boring naman ng pagkain sa bahay. Thanks MTC!

Tapos kakabili ko lang ng MELENDRES FARMS ORGANIC Red Tomatoes, Red Onions and Romaine Lettuce. I got some more RAMS Sweet Pickle Relish, GREY POUPON Dijon Mustard, DEL MONTE Catsup Original Blend BEST FOODS Mayo. Ay wala akong Potato Chips, sayang. I also have only SCHWEPPES Soda Water but I have SUNKIST Lemon left over. Wala rin akong movie at daughter na gagawa ng sandwich ko. Huhuhuhu.

  8. Yes, worth it siya.

This is my take at SOFITEL's Spiral Buffet. The seafood selection is always worth it and that includes the Japanese sashimi & sushi. The cheese room and cold cuts selection alone, and that includes Iberico and Serrano hams will very much pay for the cost of the buffet experience. Teppanyaki, and robatayak grill are good bonus as well as the pasta and salad on demand. All the rest of the hot food, which includes Chinese, Filipino, French, Italian, Indian, Mexican are all well about sub par for the price. The Philippine lechon is always disappointing, as well as the Chinese Peking Duck & suckling pig. The chinese dimsum and noodle offerings are just too ordinary. Dessert has very wide mediocre selection. In fact, their baked breads are better but of course, in a buffet eating "marathon" the one cardinal rule to observe is to refrain from eating too much carbs. Another thing I learned about Spiral'buffet is you have to ask the serving chefs, if the food you want is not available or not on display. Usually, they'll get it from the kitchen.

On a sad note, just read that Anthony Bourdain just passed away yesterday. C'est la vie.

  9. Pleated pants are so dated now a days, but I got a lot of those good pleated slacks & khakis from Nordstrom . I had to have them altered by Paras Alterations to make them slimmer fit with or without cuffs. Still looks good because of the good quality earth tone fabrics.

  10. Still wear my 20+ year old Polo by RL leather jacket, every time I travel during fall, winter and spring time. During rainy days, I use my water repellant jacket with hood from Faconable. For sports jacket, an all around M&S, an Italian Vestimente and a 20+ year old Cole Haan blazer.
