Izakaya Kikufuji during lunch time has this. When dining in is permitted, their lunch set meals have unli-rice and soup.
Oh yes. I remember now. Very good Japanese restaurant in Little Tokyo. Been there many moons ago. Arigato.

Is there still an existing LING NAM Noodle House in Manila? It was quite popular one in the 70s serving Mami and Siopao in their own style.

You remember the three panciterias along T.Pinpin in Sta Cruz. Panciteria San Jacinto, Pancitetia Rice Bowl and Pancitetia Toho Antigua. With their garish neon light signboards. Hanging roast Porks, jamon asados, tripes and intestines, white chickens. Ceiling fans and high bar stools with private booth porcelain topped tables and iron and wood stacking chairs. The second floor dining was air conditioned. You were served with perfumed hot towels every time you dined.

I like my pan de sal crusty on the outside but soft and chewy in the inside. It is always best when it is hot with butter.

French Bakers, Contis, Mary Grace, Cibo, are my go to places for a quick lunch. They are all reasonably priced and food always savory with good hygiene and service.

Max, Savory, Aristocrat, Bon Chon, Popeye's, KFC, Mang Inasal. Whether, fried, barbecued, broiled, or roasted these are all great with their own distinct take.

May saludo pa pagkatspos.

I was thinking a French-Japanese Fusion would be similar to a MORIMOTO inspired cuisine.

ninyos good size nice place especially yun outdoors area but the outdoors area no ac so best to eat there pag malamig na weather. food is not bad and cheap for the serving size they give you. good for dates on a budget.
None yet. But if I remember it right, I may have read a review that Ninyo was just so-so. Although that can be subjective.
Oh, "so so" and "not bad" does not cut it for me. But I wonder why these restaurants, NINYO and TOYO Eatery in Makati and BAR PINTXOS in BGC were the 3 top choice of restaurants in Manila and were included in the 50 Hottest Restaurant in Asia 2020 by Elizabeth Thorn for a Travel Magazine, I wonder why?

Has anyonevtried any of these restaurants? Tokyo Eatery @ Chino Roces in Makati. Specializing in Filipino novo cuisine. Bar Pintxos @ BGC. They specialize in Spanish Tapas. And Ninyo Wine Lounge along Katipunan in QC. They serve French & Japanese fusion.

Twenty years ago when it opened for business, OMAKASE Restaurant was one of the better Japanese eating places in town. Nowadays, it is just a faint reminder of what it used to be. Everything from food, presentation, service, ambiance seemed to be uninspired, tired, worn out and had seen better days. I just feel very badly for an almost like cult following in the early 2000's.
Fried Chicken
in List of Restaurants, Coffee Shops, Milk Tea, etc

My take is that in the traditional style of frying a whole chicken, Max's still reigns supreme. In the Southern country style fried chicken, the original KFC is still the best. In the Chinese style fried chicken, I give it to Savory, although there are worthwhile pretenders such as Sincerity in this category, but I will give it to the latter because of their bigger market presence. In the fast food category, I'll give Jollibee's Chickenjoy the thumbs up cause it is more suitable to the Filipino hoi polloi taste. The Korean Bon Chon is also worth mentioning because they have a different take on glazed fried chickens. The rest such as Roasted, Rotisseried, Charcoal Broiled, Baked, Barbequed, etc. Would fall into an entirely different category.
