  1. Recently, I took a membership at newly opened ANYTIME FITNESS in the Antipolo Vista Mall complex. The mall is located on the slope of Mille Luce Hill which has a commanding view of Antipolo and beyond. The gym is on the upper floor while a COFFEE PROJECT is right beneath on the ground floor. I go to the gym early mornings and spend an hour and a half burning calories. After my workout, I am always tempted to drop by the coffee shop for a cup of their piping hot brewed Joe and a banana topped muffin while wiling my time reading their complimentary daily newspaper. Now, I am just wondering where this habit puts my calorie intake. "...Hmmmm... baka parang eleksyon lang ito na may DAGDAG BAWAS..."

  2. For me, the freshness of all the ingredients hold the key to the Kare Kare. However, the quality of the sauce holds it all together. The sauce should not be pre-seasoned with salt or patis. Just the pureness and cleanness of the beef broth will give its flavour essence plus of course the right toasted ground peanuts and the grainy texture of the toasted mixed malagkit/japonica pestle pounded rice. The icing on the kare kare sauce is the sauteed binagoongan-quality alamang bagoong. Luckily, I find ABE's and its sister restaurants kare kare, closest to this taste.

My childhood favorite meriendas or recess baon sa school.

  4. Last night I had the chance to drop by at OOMA Japanese Restaurant in ROCKWELL. They are not located inside the Power Plant Mall but they are in the ARUGA Apartment/Hotel Complex. I've read good reviews about them. I would consider it as a Casual Dining restaurant. The prices and food servings are very reasonable. However, for a Japanese restaurant that caters to the SUSHI market, it has more FLAIR than substance in its sushi creation than making it just FRESH and SIMPLE. I understand the appeal it may have to the Filipino palate but I would consider it more for the Food Truck Sushi foodie than the TSUKIJI Market, Tokyo Fine Sushi Bars class connoisseur with emphasis on freshness and subtle simplicity.
