  2. what's the title of the song nun.......its starts with...."In 1971 a young woman died at the age of..." then the song..."Lady,are you crying, do the tears belong to me...." I think its by John Denver. Baka meron kayong alam na link for me to download the song. Cant find one sa malls, pati na nga sa quiapo hehe.

  3. aka Sgt. Saunders + Cage + Big John + Kirby

    who was Rick Jason? = Lt. _______

    Their password: check mate king two, this is ______, over! (fill in the blank kasi di ko rin alam sagot) hehehe. parati nilang ginagamit ito when they are asking for reinforcements. Too bad Vic Morrow died in a freak accident together with 2 children while filming a clip.

    After Combat.....wait naman namin yung Batman cartoons then the Green Hornet featuring the then unknown Bruce Lee.

  4. Don't forget the Faded Glory jeans and the Happy Feet clogs. I think the birdwing collars are coming back a bit. The platform shoes have come and gone thankfully not for men's shoes.

    How many still remember the Panacraft toy store in Malugay and Quezon Arcade in Cubao. A mecca for slot car and Voltes V fans as well as model hobbyists (not the kind that breathes--we were too young then). I do remember the Alibangbang club accross EDSA from Farmer's Market.

    =========================================

    It was the late Uncle Bob of Lucky 7 Club that usually promotes Panacraft. We visited the store sa Cubao and bought the very creative Spirograph where one can draw art form using plastic wheel/ruler guides. Parati kong ginagawa yung "owl" art na sobrang gastos sa ballpen ink (different colors pa) that i abandoned the "toy" after a year. Nasa akin pa yung "toy".

    Also, I remember Vic Morrow of Combat series sa Channel 7. He once visited our school sa UST. Pinagkaguluhan. Superstar siya sa mga kabataan during those years.

  5. Sleeks was owned by Eddie Ilarde. Ever tried those plastic 'wet look' pants with matching chaleco and the paisley print long sleeved shirt with the balooned sleeves and the three-button cuffs? The were 70s pre-martial law fashion and they made your balls stew in the noontime heat.

    This gave way to the SDK. Not the outlawed Samahang Demokratiko ng Kabataan but the Samahang Double Knit which was a slightly more confortable material because the fabric at least breathes even if it did not absorb your sweat. And because it was so hard to keep that 'liston' on it a new industry was born: the perma-press business.

    ======================================================

    Wet look....hahaha, the once Tisoy wore. ANg sikip sikip kung minsan kailangan mo pa ng alalay para lang mahubad. Double Knit, sarap sa legs mas lalo kung uupo ka, sumasabay kasi sa skin. Also remember the Bang! Bang! Perma-Press na nakakasugat. Thank God di na naging uso sa 70s yung almirol. Back then during the late 60s, sa kapal ng almerol, puwedeng tumayo yung khaki ko mag isa!

    Yung "tina" na hinahalo sa tubig na pampaputi ng nilabhan.

  6. Yes, that was in the early seventies before martial law was imposed. After that ABS-CBN's premises were taken over by Marcos Crony Roberto Benedicto and his Kanlaon Broadcasting System. KBS 9 became the biggest TV network along with BBC 2 and BBC 4.

    KBS had a teeny bopper program at 6 pm daily called "9 Teeners" hosted by Ed Finlan, Gigi Montañer, and one other girl. I think it was patterned after the us show Shindig.

    ==========================================================

    and Meralco was "bought" by Kokoy "d'crocodile" Romualdez for P1,500.00! Ewan ko, sa sobrang ganid sa power ni Kokoy, did he ever had a banggaan ni Danding?

    Yes, I remember 9 teeners.....I also remember those shows like Sound Off-Channel 11, Darigold Jamboree and Student Canteen. Stop'Look'Listen din.

  7. i know they long gone but i still remember Topper's & Manlapat Haberdashery wehehehe.... mahal sumingil grabeh....mahal pa sa bile mo na tela..... never tried them though ....... i think the Toppers was around Dilson Theather? back then... nice reading/reminiscing the past pages... :D

    ======================================

    D'Sharp haberdashery owned by Dolphy

  8. Yeah Bong bested out a lot of other contestants most of the time but minsan natatalo din siya. Yung nakakatalo sa kanya yung Muslim guy, Nasir Abbas ata name nun.

    ===========================================================

    Paminsanminsan tinatalo rin siya ng the late Bonggulto

  9. What about the x-rated local movies inserted in between double bills at the old Del Monte theater along Del Monte avenue just off Roosevelt. This was where I saw the late George Estregan humping who I think was Rosanna Ortiz and that classic humping movie of Ricky Rogers and Scarlet.

    Entrance during the early 70s was 50 centavos. We would go in after lunch after the last day of our periodical tests and get to step out after dark. In between there would be a showing of a Jess Lapid or Jun Aristorenas flick doubled with some local scary movie.

    The seats were four abreast wood benches with no upholstery and if you happen to sit on top of a bedbug nest, too bad for you. The floors tended to get slippery too and we all knew why.

    ==============================================================================

    Naku, mga surot sa loob ng sinehan. There used to be a small movie theater at Craig na punong puto ng surot! Also there's the old Mayfair theater in Sta.Cruz. and who would forget the infamous GALA theater!

  10. 70's mura pa bayad sa jeep at kandong lang ang mga bata unlike today

    ======================================================

    I think its P0.25 from dapitan to quiapo. hehehe, sa sobrang hirap namin nun, maski may mga upuan pa, nakaka kandong ako.

  11. Yes, too bad all my collections are gone... damn rats! :(

    I wrote an article once in Jingle Magazine. I was commissioned by one of the staffers who is my friend to write an article about Audiophile Terminologies to explain it in layman's term. I can't remember what issue that was, but it had Donna Summers on the cover with green background. B)

    ==============================================

    Jingle Mag. Got the very first copy of it with Paul McCartney as its cover.

  12. ^^^ Very nice write-up, Pareng Boomouse. :cool: It sure brought back a lot of memories of places around Metro Manila.

    Is the Gregg Store in San Juan still around? I do remember that place along N. Domingo.

    I remember the bus lines you mentioned along with the nicknames people gave them such as JD (Judas-Driven) Transit and DM (Demonyo Mag-maneho) Transit. Another example of lawanit-framed buses was the Marikina Auto Line. I also remember the day I first rode on an airconditioned Love Bus. :cool:

    =========================================================================

    Yah, I used to ride those maroon colored JD buses from Quiapo to Project 6. I used to marvel at the newly-built ABS-CBN tower. Ang taas taas kasi nuon. Even walked through the street katapat Channel 2 just to look up at their tower.

  13. On the handle thing... you hit the nail in the head my friend. If the vernacular of a 'big prick' is 'bu-rat', then it follows that a small prick is a 'boo-mouse'!

    Para hindi OT:

    I will raid my dad's library this (omigosh!!!) holy week with scanner and laptop to get some choice pics of Ginoo for you guys.

    Sige, pre, i miss those Ginoo and Pic picture I used to collect. They were destroyed by water when the room of our bodega nasira ng strong winds during typhoon Rosing. Post it here or kung hindi puwede, PM it to me hehehehe.

  14. Speaking of ham, I miss the Excelente Ham my dad used to buy at Echague. Miss ko rin iyong Queso de Bola and home-made hot chocolate that my mom and my aunt used to make.

    ====================

    Kami, nakaugalian namin (since the time of my lola) tuwing noche buena and medya noche,,,tinola, menudo and yung Ricoa (chocolate) na naalala ko pa kapag pinaiinit may pang halo silang gawa sa kahoy and may decorations pa sa dulo.

    HAPPY NEW YEAR SA INYONG LAHAT!!! Ninos inocentes ngayon!

  15. It was splashed everywhere both in print and broadcast. The Subic rape case pales in comparison

    to the celebrated Maggie dela Riva case considering the magnitude of the violence inflicted on a

    famous celebrity at that time. It was Judge Lourdes San Diego who handed the death sente

    =====================================================

    Totoo yan, Nicole's experience will pale sa naranasan ni Maggie dela Riva. Here's the full story:

  16. The guy was not a real drug dealer but was executed only to scare Ninoy Aquino. Aquino's death sentence was handed down by the military tribunal as soon as the poor guy got shot. Marcos was forcing a negotiated settlement with Ninoy and he thought executing somebody would scare Ninoy.

    Ninoy was executed anyhow, and in broad daylight in the middle of the airport some years later.

    ======================

    Oo nga, pero what puzzles me is that saan siya (Lim Seng) inilibing? Also, i remember watching the execution on TV parang wala akong nakitang dugo na lumabas sa kanyang katawan after allegedly being hit by a bullet.

  17. PBA Heckler Victim Hall of Fame:

    1) Luke Dacula

    2) Ricky Palou

    3) Nonoy Dalman

    =======================================================

    By the way, Ricky Palou was also known as Jesus Christ Superstar with his beard and eyes na medyo hawig nga sa mga paintings.

  18. PBA Heckler Victim Hall of Fame:

    1) Luke Dacula

    2) Ricky Palou

    3) Nonoy Dalman

    [/quo

    ==========================================

    Oo nga, kawawa naman....the heckling prompted Luke Dacula (full name: Lucrecio Dacula - kung bakit naman pangalan niya pinaglaruan pa ng kanyang magulang) to legally and file a motion and it was approved to change his name to.....(hehehe forgot it na)

    Ricky Palou, yes the same Ricky Palou of the UAAP board), was San Miguel Beer's Bangko ng Bayan. Parati siyang natutuyuan ng pawis after initial warm up shots. He owns the highest looping shots sa MICAA during the 6os and 70s. Sa sobrang taas, nawawala bola sa ibabaw ng TV screen.

    Di ko na maalala kung sino si Nonoy Dalman

  19. ke Bogs Adornado naman pag sumabay siyang makiagaw ng bola sa ilalim . . .

    "layo, layo mahihipuan kayo niyan!!"

    =====================================================

    Also, during the early days of Ginebra, Jawo was only known as a rough and dirty player so the fans consistently chanted "lolo" lolo lolo....

  20. heard before na nagduduraan daw sila, lalo na kapag toyota vs. crispa ang laban. i dunno if its true.

    ========================================================

    Actually this duraan thing was started by Jake Rojas of the then Mariwasa team. Then it caught on with other players with the likes of Dionisio, Fabiosa, Arnaiz, Ray Franco. Dont know if Jawo did this kind of dirty trick pero imagine a dura on your face mas lalo while making a layup? disgusting!

  21. Maraming salamat for this information, Mr. Photographer. I remember back in the 70s when my father and I went to see a Crispa-Toyota game at the Araneta Coliseum. Tuwing hawak ni Arnaiz ang bola, sumisigaw iyong mga Crispa fans sa area namin na "Blenda Torotot". :( This was during the time when the news came out that they were separating because she left him for another man. Fans can be brutal at times.

    =======================

    Yah, I remember those kind of hecklings, nakakapikon talaga. Hindi lang si Arnaiz who suffered those kinds of heckling. When Bernard Fabiosa of Crispa separated from his wife as a result of the girl (a former stewardess) na sumama sa isang military man (a general, I think), sinisigawan naman siya ng may t_e sa ulo. Buti these days, nabawasan na ganung ka personal na pang aasar.

  22. Actually, that lady was his wife at that time. Sadly, they separated a few years later. I remember her face but unfortunately, I couldn't recall her name. :(
