  1. With meralco and RoS picking before the ginkings...mukhang baka ala na si norbert....i read somewhere that RoS is also trying to get some bigs in the draft eh....chance nlang natin kung magpadraft din sina belo and AVO....or gusto kaya ni coach yeng sina barracael+marcelo for their 3rd pick? Hehehe

As for bringing the championship sa ginebra? I think it is very doable....iba caliber nina cone/ yeng guiao compared kina...ato cariaso and lim naman....

Ang exciting dito...kung sino ang hahatakin ni cone galing PF , sinong matratrade and sinong kukunin sa draft...so let the speculations begin!!!! Ngayon lang naging ganito ka abang abang ang off season ng ginebra hehehe

If there will be indeed a trade/swap between GSM and PF, we need a third wheel team. Enter our farm team - BB or Globalport.. If it will become a three way trade, who's likely going to who??

Here are some BB and GP players that I think can help our triangle and PF new offense:

    > RR Garcia (possible)

    > Romeo (Impossible)

    > Semerad (possible)

    > JC Intal (possible)

what do you guys think??? sino naman ang pwede kapalit ng mga to?

  2. so i think the draft pick of Tim will be based also on the roster move/line up changes kung sino ang mawawala at magiging kulang na posisyon. We badly needed shooters for the triangle.

Ang, however, was quick to temper expectations, saying he expects Ginebra to be a 'formidable team' under Cone but warning that success won't come overnight.

"Ginebra is expected to become a formidable team, but I would like to manage the expectations of fans in the first two years," said the SMC big boss. "Di ganoon kabililis 'yan."

Cone, owner of a record 18 championships, is expected to bring with him longtime assistant Richard del Rosario to the Ginebra camp, where assistant coaches Olsen Racela and Freddie Abuda will likely be retained.

Ito ang pina ka the best sa move niya:

Cone is expected to get blanket authority at Ginebra and full support from Ang, who said he wants to see the league's most popular team match, if not surpass, the success of sister teams San Miguel and Star in recent seasons.

  3. Tim Cone to Ginebra may be a bad idea

    http://rivals.ph/basketball/pba/2015/07/17/38092/tim-cone-to-ginebra-may-be-a-bad-idea/

MANILA — As of this writing, nothing has been set in stone yet, but various outlets have reported that the PBA’s winningest coach, Tim Cone, will be transferring from the Star Hotshots to the league’s most popular, but floundering, team, Barangay Ginebra.

If, indeed, that deal pushes through, Cone will be joining the Hotshots’ sister team, a team that has not won a title since the 2008 Fiesta Conference and that has changed coaches almost as frequently as Taylor Swift changes boyfriends.

It’s bad enough that the Gin Kings’ capriciousness is comparable to Swift’s fickleness, but now they’re actually planning on dragging Cone into the mess.

I say this is a bad idea on several levels, and, well, as one of my friends said on social media today, let’s just hope coach Tim likes his vegetables.

This is a potentially bad idea for coach Tim because he’ll go back to square one with a team that, though loaded with talent, has been known more for its impatience rather than its depth.

Let’s face it – Ginebra is a shell of its former, glorious self.

And the legendary “never say die” spirit?

Newsflash: it left this team a long time ago, and I see that even a coach as magnificent as coach Tim will find it extremely hard to bring it back.

You see, Ginebra is maybe the most impatient team this league has ever seen — at least based on their recent moves and changes. I mean, the Gin Kings have gone through seven different coaches in the past six seasons: Siot Tangquincen, Jong Uichico, Alfrancis Chua, Ato Agustin, Jeffrey Cariaso, Juno Sauler (c’mon, right?), and Frankie Lim.

Does coach Tim really want to be the next one in line?

Sure, Tim Cone is arguably the best coach the PBA has ever seen, but, judging by the way Ginebra has pretty much bungled many major decisions the past few seasons, even he can find himself in the franchise’s crosshairs if he doesn’t deliver a title within the next few conferences.

In spite of Ginebra’s depth and size, this will be made difficult by the fact that coach Tim’s play style of choice — the triangle offense — tends to take quite some time to “master.” Also, that type of offense tends to diminish the role of score-heavy point guards, and Ginebra has two of those in LA Tenorio and Sol Mercado. It will be interesting to see how long it will take for coach Tim to make things work and produce results — if at all.

In the short term, I don’t think the Cone-Ginebra combo will work, at least not without some tweaking in the Kings’ roster. For one, they’ll need better wingmen. Mark Caguioa, the undisputed face of this franchise, can probably be a solid fit for coach Tim’s desired offense, but I don’t see guys like Mac Baracael and Chris Ellis having the necessary consistency in their perimeter game to be able to stretch the defense and complement coach Tim’s play style. Maybe if they get someone like Chris Lutz or JC Intal, or perhaps luck out in the draft and land Ray Parks (should he join and should Ginebra be able to steal a top 2 or 3 pick) or Chris Newsome, things can look up, but, by and large, I find it hard to imagine the Kings hoisting a title in coach Tim’s first full season.

Oh wait, did I just assume coach Tim will actually get to coach the most schizophrenic squad in the PBA for a full season? I’m delusional, right?

I don’t even want to look too far ahead and theorize that coach Tim and the Kings will eventually win a title somewhere down the road. I mean, coach Tim is pushing 60, other teams are bound to get much stronger, that Tenorio-Mercado combo still has a lot of chinks, Greg Slaughter has been left behind by June Mar Fajardo, and, again, the terms “patience” and “Ginebra” seem to naturally not go in the same sentence.

Good luck, coach Tim. You’ll need it. This can turn bad pretty soon because, well, we are talking about the Gin Kings. — Rivals 2015

  4. REVIEW: MINIONS

    Rating: 8/10

Plot: The minions, after losing their villain master consecutively, was left to wander and hide in ice land. Seeing his fellow minions lose hope and reason to live, Kevin (the taller one) decides to go out in the open to find them a new villain master to serve. Accompanied by 1 volunteer (Bob) and 1 innocent wanderer (Stuwart) they embark on a journey to the US until they were send to London by their supposed to be master Scarlet Overkill to steal Queen Elizabeth's crown. Unexpected turn of events made Scarlet hate the 3 minions and decides to k*ll them until they were saved by someone familiar to all of us.

    Highs:

    > With the 3 minions chosen to be unique with each other, its easy to remember every one of them by their appearances

    > Very funny (as expected) and entertaining take on their history and personal interest's

    > Each minion has its own unique personality that makes them so endearing and loveable

    Lows:

    > The fight scene vs Scarlet, I just don't expect it to be that way

    EXTRAS:

    > Cameos by the Yeti and the Beatles

All in all, the minions didn't disappoint. Although the film does not end with a promise of a sequel, I'm pretty sure we will see more of these cute little yellow fellows soon.

Bring your kids, its worth it!

  5. REVIEW: ANT-MAN

    Rating: 9/10

Plot: Scott Lang (Rudd), is a newly released prisoner previously convicted on a famous heist was recruited by Dr. Hank Pym (Douglas) to steal 2 things; an electric device on the Avengers Mansion and the Yellow jacket suit. Lang was hesitant at first but eventually agreed to redeem himself and also to provide for her only daughter in which he failed to do so during his robbery days. She was trained by Pym;s daughter - Hope (Lily) on using hand to hand combat and controlling an army of ants. His failure to steal the suit inside Cross Technologies lead him to battle with Darren Cross (Pym's protege and former business partner) donning the Yellow Jacket costume eventually beating the latter and saving the world (and pym's relationship with hope).

    Highs:

    > First Marvel movie that is very child friendly and very funny

    > You almost forgot its a superhero movie, very entertaining and again - hilarious

    > Lots of avengers references, even a cameo by Falcon and the new Avengers Mansion

    > No plot holes, brief background on Pym and Wasp is easily understandable.

    > The ant man shrinking scenes are new to the eyes and very refreshing

    > Very nice climax fight (with appearances by Thomas and Friends)

    > His wits and cleverness makes up for his lack of gadgets/tricks

    Lows:

    > For loyal comic fans, its a very, very different interpretation/take of Hank Pym and Ant Man

    > The only thing true to the comics is Hank Pym's ego

    MEMORABLE SCENES:

    > Antman's first time to shrink (its not like, honey i shrunk the kid moment - its way better)

    > Falcon vs Antman

    > Wasp Cameo (her face was not seen on any of her appearances, even in pictures)

    > 2 End Credits Scenes/Hidden Endings

    > Final Battle

    > Howard Stark (Tony's father) cameo

Good thing they stay true to most of Edgar Wright's script and casting Rudd as Lang is perfect much like Tony Stark of RDJ.

All in all, the film is very refreshing take on marvel superheroes in the MCU, new and entertaining.

Go ahead and watch it guys!

  6. Yung promotion "kuno" ni Chua is something to wonder also. That sports director position was the one held previously by Noli Eala in which he decides on the 3 teams and also on other sports related activities ng SMC outside the PBA.. Maybe it is a boot position para di siya makialam sa PBA teams and yung outside activities na lang ang binigay sa kanya besides may mga team govs at team managers naman.

CFL was on the wrong end of an unlucky conference. What if kung hindi injured si Greg at Japhet nung first few games? will the result be diff? who knows.. And the Abueva incident, di ba yun ang hinahanap nating coach dati? yung may balls? ala Yeng Guiao na astig? bakit ngayon yun ang ginagawang dahilan para alisin siya? I like his guts para maibangko yung 2 diva and make them mum on social media specially diva47. Its his 1st conference only, cmon. He also have to deal with an import na ayaw makipagbanggaan at sobrang nag-iingat kung kailan mas kailangang kailangan.

Having Tim Cone is a blessing, yet can also be a curse at the start. Remember, the divas hate the triangle, they said it publicly during interviews before thats why they booted Cariaso out. And I dont expect them to be a champion in his 1st conference dahil maririnig na naman natin ang salitang "adjust, jell, nangangapa" for sure.

Yeng Guiao for now i think is impossible for he is under contract sa ROS, maybe the talks is after his contract expired until who knows?

Kung ang motibo ni RSA is to finally focus on Ginebra since ang SMB ay stable na at ang Star ay naka grandslam na, then that is good news to all of us. I dont think Webb is more capable than Johnny A and Richard del Rosario, his longtime assistants. Lets see.

  7. eto pa:

Tim Cone admits move from Star to Ginebra 'possible:' 'I serve at the pleasure of Mr. Ang'

TIM Cone on Thursday broke his silence on his reported move from Star to sister team Barangay Ginebra, saying it is 'possible' while making it clear he has not been informed of any such plans.

Talk has been going around for weeks that the most successful coach in history will be tasked by San Miguel Corp. management to pump life back into a Ginebra team that has not won a championship in eight seasons.

That would lead to the departure of current Ginebra coach Frankie Lim after just one conference in charge and a vacancy at Star which, although not yet official, was supposed to be filled by Jason Webb.

Speaking to Spin.ph from Las Vegas where he is on a scouting trip in the NBA Summer League, Cone said he has not been in touch with management and therefore not informed of any such move.

"The Ginebra rumors? I'm in the US scouting the NBA Summer League and so I have not been communicating with management," said Cone, who led Purefoods (now Star) to a first grand slam two seasons ago.

"If there are discussions of that, I've not been informed," he added.

Asked if SMB management can transfer him to Ginebra without his consent since he is under contract with Star, Cone said he isn't sure but made it clear he will follow any directive from SMC top honcho Ramon S. Ang.

"I serve at the pleasure of the president, Mr. Ang, and I'll follow whatever direction he chooses," said Cone. "It's possible, but nothing has been said to me."

Cone indicated he expects the situation to clear up when he returns on July 21.

  8. OBVIOUSLY not satisfied with the performances of crowd-favorite Ginebra and Star this season, San Miguel Corp. chief Ramon Ang has reportedly ordered a revamp of the two teams that will likely end up with coach Tim Cone handling the Kings and Jason Webb calling the shots for the Hotshots.

Rumors of such moves began making the rounds last week and gained momentum yesterday when the company appointed Ginebra team manager and alternate governor Alfrancis Chua to a dual roleas the new representative of the Kings to the PBA board and sports director of the giant firm.

Chuas assignment to both positions precede the projected announcement of the coaching changes in both the Ginebra and Star camps, which may come any time soon.

Its not known what will happen to current Ginebra coach Frankie Lim, who was fined P50,000 and slapped a one-game suspension recently after kicking Alaska star Calvin Abueva in the quarterfinals battle between the two teams.

The pony-tailed Chua, who steered the Kings to the 2013 Commissioners Cup finals before he was named alternate governor and team manager, was also acclaimed as the new president of the Basketball Coaches Association of the Philippines last month.

He could not be reached for comment yesterday but a reliable source told Malaya-Business Insight that Ginebras move, veering away from the usual league practice of having the company presidents or owners as governor, is unprecedented in the pro leagues 40-year history.

Never before has it been done, but its all part of the pahiyang na ginagawa ni (SMC) Boss RSA (Ramon S. Ang), the source said.

Only SMCs flag-carrier, San Miguel Beer, remains in the hunt for the season-ending PBA Governors Cup title. Ginebra got as far as the quarterfinals while Star, coming off a grand slam season, was swept in the semis by Alaska.

Incoming PBA chairman Robert Non, San Miguels chief of basketball operations, refused to comment on what the source said, maintaining they are focused on the title duel between SMB and Alaska. The Beermen were going for a 3-0 lead last night.

What we are focused on now is the championship and we would not distract ourselves with such speculations, Non said.

The insider, however, said any official should come any time. Baka as early as bukas (Thursday), said the source.

According to the insider, the PBA has already been informed of Chuas twin appointments, the memo of him being the new representative of Ginebra to the pro league in lieu of company president Bernie Marquez reaching the league offices last Tuesday and as sports director yesterday.

Such information from the PBAs members are routinely passed on to the league, which formally begins its 41sttseason with the Rookie Draft on Aug. 23. Noli Cortez, Malaya Business Insight

    Well... here comes the pain.

If these happens - it comes with a shock.

What will BGSM do? Triangle offense again? why not give CFL another chance? Hindi sa ayaw ko kay Tim Cone but I feel sorry for PF and Coach Frankie.

Gusto ba ni Boss RSA puro san miguel teams lang aakyat sa Top 4 lagi? syempre imposible yun dahil may ginagawa din ang ibang teams na paraan.

  9. This team and thread deserved to be up now.. Congrats 3-0 na.

Congrats din kay Junmar sure ball back to back MVP

Good Job Coach Leo - tapusin niyo na sa Friday para

  10. Before watching Captain America 3 Civil War Next Year, I suggest you read the original comic book series by Mark Millar first - MARVEL's CIVIL WAR on why Iron Man and Captain America is fighting.

Mark Millar is easily one of the best modern day comic book writer.

    His notable creations;

    > Kingsman the secret service

    > Civil War

    > Kick ass

  12. this one came from surprisingly - The Philippine Daily Inquirer

"Major coaching changes among popular teams that fared below expectations the entire season will take place after the ongoing Finals of the Governors’ Cup, insiders of several teams say. One of the teams will be getting a multititled mentor, while the other, a squad teeming with veterans and superstars, will be handled starting next year by a bench upstart who was also a former PBA guard. Both teams failed to make the title series in any of the three tournaments despite high-profile rosters and crafty imports."
