  1. a talaga mas ok ba ang G5 compare to G7? tama pala na bili ko.. kahit na matagal na sa akin toh. may value parin pala :) nice to hear it.. and bout the flash you are talking about how much un? and ano pa mga optional na kailangan ko bilhin for this cam?

the Sigma 500 DG Super Flash is around 12k at Hidalgo brand new. Most Canon people sell their Sigma flash after about a year (upgrade blues). Pag second hand anywhere from 6k to 9k nalang. I got my Sigma flash over at pinoyphotography.org. Just be sure to get the one for Canon cameras. There are two models ng Sigma, yung 500 DG Super and the 500 Super. Mas mura yung 500 Super by about 2k. Only difference is that the 500 DG Super can communicate with other sigma flashes for multi-flash setup. Otherwise, for normal use, ok na ok pa rin yung 500 Super.

I know it's kinda expensive, but after using an external flash, you'll never go back to the built-in flash again!

  2. I am currently using CANON Powershot G5, any reviews and comments on the model? and sino din dito gumagamit nto?

that is a truly excellent camera! One of the last powershots to offer RAW mode (the last was the Pro1), has a hotshoe for an external flash, 2.0 to 2.8 aperture, and great manual controls. Only downside is that its only usable to ISO 200, so even at f/2.0, its not going to be as fast as entry-level SLRs with a 2.8 lens. My advice is to invest in an external flash and filter attachments if you don't quite have the money for an SLR. I just bought myself a used Sigma 500 Super DG external flash, and my powershot G3 suddenly found a new lease on life! There are so many great pictures you can take just by bouncing the flash!

IMHO, between a used G5 and the current G7, the G5 has more value (also, it's a lot easier to hold as well)!

  3. I only read one issue by Fabian Nicieza and I know it's a riot since Deadpoool is a real whacko! :)

I've been reading the Cable/Deadpool books just recently, and pre-House of M, the series was pretty good (given that it's an action-comedy). The best issue I've read so far is when Cable becomes so powerful that the UN asks Reed Richards to call on one of the more powerful cosmic beings to take him down--Cable vs. the Silver Surfer! (it's such a shame all the X-books lost their momentum and direction after House of M).

  4. guys, help naman... can i remove Mac OS X from my MacBook Pro and install Windows XP?

not dual OS ha... as in windows lang.

    thanks.

I have a feeling that it's not possible unless you can find a hack that allows Windows XP to run on EFI instead on BIOS. Bootcamp solves that problem (BIOS to EFI translation), but without OSX, bootcamp won't run, right?

  5. the product itself is pretty fascinating and promising as well. Just make sure it has a pretty long battery life, add 3G capability on it, and make it a bit cheaper (wishful thinking, hehehe) and I'm pretty much sold to have it as my next cellphone.

as for the trademark lawsuit, I think a settlement will be reached eventually. besides, what comes to mind to most people right now when they hear the word "iPhone"? the one by Cisco or the one by Apple? biased as it may be, I think we all know the answer to that one. :)

a bit OT lang. I was watching Steve Jobs' demo of the iPhone at YouTube last night and one thing that caught my attention was the fact that he played some Beatle tracks on the iPhone. Given the fact that Apple Inc. has been involved in a lawsuit with the Beatles' company Apple Corps for quite some time now, either Jobs wants another lawsuit from Apple Corps or something else is cooking at this point. Has Apple and Apple finally reached some agreement? Does this also mean that the long awaited availability of digital downloads (in iTunes Store at least) from the Fab Four in the offing as well? Let's wait and see about that in the coming months.

If I remember right, Apple (Mac) won that case against Apple (Beatles). They are currently in negotiations to put the Beatles on iTunes...or maybe they already did.

Makes me wonder why Apple chose to partner with Cingular...why not offer it free from any carrier subscriptions? Like Nokia or Sony-Ericsson? Afterall, American cellular companies are pretty much backwards compared to the rest of the European telecoms, wouldn't it have been better to partner with a Euro telecom who can provide them with broader experience and more tech-savvy customers...then sell the iPhone model in the US just like a normal phone?

  6. A great Filipino photographer, Dick Baldovino, died recently on January 6, 2007. I had a chance to work with him in some of my projects in the early 90s. My condolences to the family.

@ Boysbe - Mga bata at ang apoy!! :thumbsupsmiley:

I heard about this recently, but I wasn't able to go to the wake as the cremation was yesterday na pala. I was able to work with him about 4 or 5 years ago, before he had a stroke. Probably the happiest old man I've ever met...and very down to earth! He was still using his antique Leica even as the industry was slowly shifting to digital...he used digital from time to time, but no DSLR by Canon or Nikon could beat the sharpness of the Leica. Will miss him.

Thank you po. :D

you'll have better luck looking for second-hand cameras. try mo nalang tipidpc.com, baka may pumasok sa budget mo, although mahirap nga talaga ang 5k for a good digicam.

  8. Well...you really can't get rid of the posers. Kahit sa club dredd (a loooong time ago) at mayrics, may naliligaw din. Pansin ko naman yung mga ibang posers dun eh hatak lang mga friends nila or got their by word of mouth. Anyway, as long as they pay, at least the place gets more income!

  9. Saguijo is located near Pasong Tamo / Chino Roces, if memory serves me right. Easiest way is to get there is to take Buendia from EDSA, then turn right on Chino Roces (there's a caltex on the corner and a mcdonalds on the opposite corner). Then, turn right on bagtikan (that would be three or four streets down), then first left, guijo street na yun. Saguijo is on the right, can't miss it kasi ang daming tao sa labas nagyoyosi at nagkuwekuwentuhan lang.

  10. mga peeps is there a canon service center dito sa mla? i have an sd 550 canon 7.1 mp. all of a sudden pag ino-on e parang may gears na nagloloko sa loob ayaw mag focus then namamatay na. please help

I think this was asked several times before...Canon's service center is in Makati. Building sa corner ng Rufino (formerly Herrera) and Chino Roces--katapat ng Shell station.

  11. The wind can affect the camera-on-tripod's stability? Maybe it would be better to invest in a much stabler tripod like Manfrotto. It's worth it. I've tried 30 sec exposures outdoor with no blurring problems with the camera on a good tripod.

The good tripod might be cheaper than the conversion.

The wind was blowing, so the trees and plants were swaying (hence the motion blur). The tripod is just fine, although I do plan to upgrade my tripod with a better head soon.

  12. I'd use a tripod if I were you :)

Converting a camera to purely IR could be fun. If you have spare cameras :) if not, a filter and a tripod will do.

I do use a tripod...problem is i'm getting motion blur in the shots because of the wind. Also, the noise reduction on long exposures isn't as good on a Powershot compared to an EOS.

As for spare cameras...let's just say Ihave more than enough, which is why I can readily sacrifice my older G3 to convert it into a pure IR camera. Guess, ipon muna so i can have it converted abroad. Anyhoo, just in case anyone has any local contacts, share nyo nalang! thanks!

  13. Anyone know a place that can remove the hot mirror in my Canon Powershot and replace it with an IR filter or clear glass? I've been TRYING to do some IR pics with a Hoya filter, but the exposure required takes too loooong (at least 2 seconds on ISO 200).

Found a few sites on the net that can do it...problema lang ang mahal!

  14. You're better off with any el cheapo USB mouse. The Mighty Mouse is probably the most uncomfortable, most ergonomically unfriendly piece of hardware i've ever came across with.

True. Plus, they're not that well built. The apple "mighty" mouse I got would stop working every few minutes...had to unplug and plug it in again to restart it. too damn annoying. ditched it and got logitech instead.

  15. question lang po....

I have an SLR olympus camera with additional zoom lens.

Can I use my SLR zoom lens to an Olympus/Other Brand DSLR camera?

If not, is there any place where I can trade-in my old SLR for a new

DSLR camera with additional money? Can any shops in Hidalgo offer this?

    tnx...

Sadly, no. Olympus digital SLRs use the newer Four/Thirds system of lenses, which are incompatible with their film cameras. As a general rule, most camera companies make lenses that are only compatible with their own. The exception being Sony as nearly all the older Konica-Minolta film lenses are compatible with their new DSLR (not surprising since Sony bought KM's SLR technology).

There are several 3rd party lens manufacturers who make lenses for different camera bodies (Sigma, Tamron, Tokina), but these are still incompatible between cameras (a Sigma lens made for a Nikon camera cannot be used on a Canon).

  16. Hi just want to ask, are you saying that you used your canon S2 IS as a video cam to capture videos?, though I know that it has a capability of capturing videos, are the quality of the video the same compared to using the real video cam?

3K for a 512 sd card? i think thats too expensive as you can get a 1GB for 2k... correct me if i'm wrong...

I'm actually more shocked at the price of the Canon S2...My dad just got an S3 for 28K, waaaay cheaper than the 36K mentioned for the S2.

Right now, I'm actually wishing I never bought a DSLR... everything about it so damn expensive! An external flash costs anywhere from 12.5k to 24k...a good walk-around lens (like the Sigma 24-70 2.8) is around 25k. Lately I've been drooling over a super wide angle lens... the EF-S 10-22, but its somewhere in the vicinity of 35K---nearly as expensive as a new DSLR. haaay.

  17. Let's face it: one can't really say one is credible over the other by the number of character they've revived. Character ressurection storyline are sucky any way you look at it. And that goes for both comicbook universes.

What I can say is this, though: Compared to DC's Infinite Crisis, Marvel's Civil War is starting to be a much better-written epic with longer lasting and significant consequences. After going through all the parts in Infinite Crisis (including all tie-ins and Preludes and Countdowns), I was severely disappointed with the ending in the last chapter of the series. It's as though nothing really significant happened. And as predicted, since it's another universe reboot, they set off to revive some characters. Again.

Of the thousands of resurrections that have happened in comics, only one character resurrection earns my respect--the Punisher. After killing Frank Castle and then reviving him as some sort of avenging angel (with magic guns! oh the horror!), Marvel realized the stupidity of their actions and just decided to reboot the entire series. In effect, they just said that the last few years (where he died and became an avenging angel) never happened. They didn't even really bother with continuity! They just wanted to get back to original version of the character without any stupid explanations.

I agree with you that Infinite Crisis was really nothing special. I can't decide which actualy disappointed me more...Infinite Crisis or Identity Crisis...both super hyped comics series that weren't that important at all. At least Marvel in recent years knows how to make good stories (no doubt thanks to the great writers they've taken away from DC / Vertigo)

  18. For most users, anything over 4 or 5 megapixels is overkill. Most people won't appreciate the added resolution since they won't be doing blow-ups or large-format printing.

Stay away from the cheapo digicams, you'll only be wasting your money. Image quality is usually just the same as most phone cams, which in my book makes them unusable! Canon makes the most value digicams for me, followed by nikon. I recommend the Canon Powershot A-XX sereies (A65, A75, A95--basta yung double digit na A series). Sony is good, but not good enough to justify the added expense! I've tried a few digicams from pentax, olympus, and casio. They were generally OK. Not as user friendly Canon, but that may be because sanay na ako sa Canon.

In the end though, nasa user yan. Kung maganda nga camera mo pero di ka marunong gumamit, well...sayang lang.

  19. Hindi ba na-realize ni Peter that he screwed himself up?

I bet may gagawin yung boss niya (Jonah Jameson) about this...  Galit siya kay Spiderman eh..

Para ganitong comic cover na to..

    post-72603-1152385382.jpg

Ang nakakatawa dito yung kakampi ng aso nagbato ng granada sa kalaban na aatakehin din ng aso... "Nice one soldier!"

Didn't Parker quit the Daily Bugle some time back? Last issue I read (New Avengers), he was already a high school science teacher.

  20. by any chance do you know if and where I can still buy some of the issues where most of the Stormwatch guys got killed? I was following that story sort of but the last issue I bought was the one that they made of the future. I mean they made a comic book that's dated for the next year but released it that year...

I apologize if I'm not that clear about what I'm saying... :D

Its collected in the last Stormwatch TPB, Final Orbit. I wouldn't buy it alone though. Better to buy it along with the previous Stormwatch books (The books in chronological order: Force of Nature, Lightning Stirkes, Change or Die, A Finer World, Final Orbit). The last few issues of Stormwatch were rushed and it was obvious either the edtors or Warren Ellis wanted to end Stormwatch as quickly as possible so they could launch The Authority.

BTW, I saw a few Stormwatch books sa Fully Booked Powerplant. Its probably still there, or you can ask the desk just in case they put it in storage.

  21. if they're gonna relaunch Wildstorm, can I ask what happened to Stormwatch?

Warren Ellis (one of the best comic sci-fi writers IMHO) killed off most of the veteran Stormwatch members. The remaining Stormwatch agents reformed under Jenny Sparks and formed The Authority. The first Authority run is well worth the money (there are 4 books that collect this run).

Some people say that Marvel's The Ultimates is clearly inspired by The Authority. I'm not surprised many people think that since both the writer (Millar) and artist (Hitch) of The Ultimates both gained recognition on their respective runs with The Authority.
