  1. guys,

    may idea ba kayo sa prices of the following?

    Nikon D80

    Canon EOS 40D

    Canon EOS 400D

    Canon EOS 5D

    thanks!

    Hidalgo prices:

    40D - 56 to 60K (depends if you want body lang or with kit lens)

    400D - 32 to 34K

    5D - 105K (although heard some rumours na 95K na lang since last few stocks na, don't know because i can't verify)

  2. question po

    aside from the price, what would be the other differences between a canon EOS 400D from 40D?

    spot metering

    better build quality (dust seals)

    bigger and brighter viewfinder

    faster auto-focus (supposedly)

    more auto-focus points

    5 frames per second (compared to the 3 fps of the 400d)

    Live View mode

  3. I would try that bro, thanks

    If I can't find any sa filbars I'll try sa ebay.ph or worldwide as my last resort :)

    if it's within the last 6-9 months, baka makabili ka pa sa filbars...but don't count on it. baka natapon n ayan sa bargain bins, in which case, good luck nalang. you'll have a better chance sa comic odyssey sa galleria or its sister shop sa trinoma. if you're really desperate you can order them as back issues, pero matagal ang wait at medyo mahal.

    Some people go for the Canon EF 28-105 IS or EF-S 17-85 IS. Personally, I prefer lenses with wider apertures, so i'd recommend either the Tamron 28-75 f/2.8 xrdi or Tamron 17-50 f/2.8. Tried using a Sigma 24-70 f/2.8 but that was too heavy for a 400d. The Tamron is smaller and lighter, suits the 400d better. just be sure to test the lens first before buying! Tamron and Sigma are notorious for bad quality control.

  5. the lens is minolta. so a lens only works for its own brand's body?

    meron po kac dad ko slr. lumang luma n. cguro may 10+ years old n to. it has not been used for a long time already, ok p b to? d nmn cguro to nasira noh?

    question, are there people still using slrs?

    i don't have an digicam but i have interest in photography. ok b n buy ng dslr agad? plano ko enroll ng photography class sa summer.

    Yes, your minolta lens will only work on Minolta bodies. Check to make sure that your Minolta lens is auto-focus. If it is, then you can probably use it on the newer Sony Alpha DSLRs. If it's manual focus only, then your out of luck, as that lens will only work on manual-focus Minolta SLRs.

    There are still some people who use film SLRs, as film still has its advantages over digital. Many photographers switched to digital mainly to improve their workflow for demanding deadlines. when it comes to personal projects, some people go back to film. I know some classes actually encourage the newbies to start with film cameras first before jumping to DSLRs.

  6. can an slr lens be used for a dslr?

    it depends on the SLR lens and the particular DSLR...it would help if you could be more specific.

    For Canon cameras, as long as the lens is an EF mount (canon lenses that have auto-focus), yes they can be used on ANY Canon DSLR

    For Nikon, not all auto-focus lenses can be used, especially if you're planning to use it on a D40 or D40x

    For Minolta auto focus lenses, you can still use them on the Sony Alpha cameras, or the older (and defunct) Konica-Minolta Maxxum DSLRs.

    For Olympus and Panasonic, I would have to say that you're out of luck. those cameras use an entirely new line of lenses (4/3s or four-thirds mount)

    I'm not sure about Pentax cameras though... never had a Pentax SLR... don't know anyone who has...

  7. Just want to share a good find for my comic book collection.. As you know, I frequent the back issue bins of any comic book store, in hopes of finding cheap but great comic books.. And look at the gem I got.. IMO, 135 Pesos is worth it for a Death: the High cost of Living #1..

    WOW.

    That is indeed, a great find.

    i wish I had the time (and patience) to go through all those bins....kainis kasi na hindi sorted yung mga bargain bins nila dito eh...sana man lang assorted by year or at least by publisher!

  8. Mga sir guide naman on what particular Model of Camera.

    Gusto ko po talaga Sony kaso its very expensive. Likewise Im not a pro naman eh. So I would want something na parang quality ng mga Nokia Phone pero Digicam at better.

    At mga magkano po dapat yung budget ko?

    Quality ng phone cam...then why not just get a phone cam? Anyway, a budget of around 10K (give or take a few) should get you a decent digicam. Canon is generally better than Sony when it comes to features versus price. You can probably get a Canon powershot A500 series model camera for around 10K. If you're willing to go 2nd-hand, then you can get better cameras at cheaper prices. I generally look at tipidpc.com for the good 2nd-hand deals. In fact, got nearly all of my camera stuff for 2nd-hand!!!

  9. Help

    Mga sir ok ba yung Digital and DV cameras ng CDR king?

    Digital Camera: DG5250

    DV Camera: DV4032

    DV Camera: DV2000

    I need some personal feedbacks po. I really like the DV2000 or DG5250. Thanks po

    I would have to say NO. Maasar ka lang sa bagal ng autofocus and quality ng pics. Better to save your money and get something decent from canon/sony/nikon or panasonic.

  10. haha.. Hindi pala ako nag-iisa.. I also don't like JRJR's art.. That is the reason why I almost did not pick up the Eternals mini-series (around last year).. Kung hindi lang ito sinulat ni Neil Gaiman, hindi ko ito kinuha eh..

    One more artist that I don't like is Mark Bagley.. Too cartoonish, IMO.. And ofcourse, ang walang kamatayang si Rob Liefeld.. hehehe..

    But I would still get the series if the storyline is done by a notable writer or if the reviews are good and espeically if it is part of a major storyline.. :thumbsupsmiley:

    I passed on the eternals solely because of JRJR...Neil Gaiman is good, but he's not his best when it comes to superheroes. Was tempted to pick up WW Hulk, but after looking at issue 1, decided i just couldn't stand it.

    Mark Bagley, for me, was better a few years ago than now. The same can be said of Chris Bachalo. I wish marvel would stop giving him X-men pencilling jobs. You can't distinguish the background from the foreground the way he draws now. I much preferred him when he was still doing Vertigo.

    Other pencillers i hate: Andy Kubert, Igor Kordey, and Frank Miller's latest works.

    Strangely enough, i kinda like Rob Liefeld's work. It's so bad, it's become its own joke!

  11. Had a chance to try the iphone....it's pretty and fun, but not for me. My biggest gripe is that you can't text with only one hand, and you can't text by feeling the buttons. My friend who owns the iphone initially didn't mind the slower texting...but after a week, she went back to her old phone. The iphone's been demoted to a glorified PDA/ipod.

  12. Dudes.. I'm planning to purchase a Olympus SP-560 UZ Ultra Zoom Digital Camera.. need your opinions about this product.. thanks..

    around $550 kasama shipment and the following extras:

    * Olympus 2GB xD-Picture™ Card

    * USB 2.0 High Speed xD-Picture™ Card Reader

    * Multi-Voltage Rapid Charger with 4 NiMH Batteries

    * Deluxe Padded Carrying Case

    * Memory Card Storage Wallet

    * Flexible Tabletop Tripod

    * Digital Image Recovery Software

    * Microfiber Cleaning Cloth

    * 1-Year Subscription to PCPhoto Magazine

    * Free High Quality Prints from Clark Color Labs

    hard to say if it's really worth it since we don't know what you'll be using the camera for (sports? wildlife? family shots?)

    the general problem with ultra-zooms with high megapixels (more than 6 megapixels) is the noise. typically, anything over ISO 200 wil get you a grainy image that could be unusable for prints larger than 5x7. best to look for full-size samples on the net. and if you can, try it out at a shop first to see if the auto-focus is fast enough.

  13. Marami pong salamat sa reply.. puntahan ko na lang po...

    Mga Sirs, which do you prefer? DX40 or EOS400d? in terms of overall performance? marami pong salamat!

    I think the 400d has the better edge over the D40x. The Canon can use any lens made for the EOS cameras. The D40x can only use the more recent Nikon lenses made specifically for digital cameras. The Canon also has more focus points than the Nikon. The Nikon has slightly better exposure metering, especially when it comes to using flash guns.

    BUT, when you're buying an SLR, you're not just buying a camera...you're potentially buying into a whole family of cameras and lenses. I would suggest you look at the whole lens line-up of both Nikon and Canon and see which better suits you.

    If you can, try to borrow a 400D or D40x from a few friends and see which feels better to use.

  14. Not much knowledgeable on the price of Tamrac Bags, but I assure you that they are cheaper in Hidalgo. Try mo Watsons, marami akong nakitang Tamrac bags dun, compared to Mayer and Henrys.

    You can also try JT Photoworld for tamrac bags. They're located along chino roces /pasong tamo, lampas ng konti sa Inquirer (blue building). Official distributor ata sila, so they have really good prices. They also have a branch in manila, can't remember where exactly. Their number: 523-4393 / 536-6590 / 5366591 / 899-5018

  15. looking for a nice digital SLR that can cope with low light and action shots. Would like to use it to shoot indoor sporting events wherein the spectators do not appreciate that i use a flash... any particular D SLR for this specialty?

    Thanks in advance.

    Oooh....if you asked this question about 3 months ago, many would recommend a Canon 5D--it's not that fast when it comes to sports, but it's truly excellent at low light photography.

    With the new cameras introduced lately and in the upcoming weeks, it's hard to really say for sure. The Canon 5D is expected to be replaced with a newer model by late January. Nikon has two excellent cameras that supposedly excel in both sports and low light (the upcoming D3 and D300).

    But if you've got a more down-to-earth budget, your choice would be limited to either the Nikon D80 or Canon 40D. In that case, go for the Canon since it has less noise at higher ISOs than the D80. It's also very new, so obsolescence is still 18 months away!

  16. We have seen Flash (Barry Allen TV Series), Supes, Bats, Wonder Woman (Linda Carter) in TV series or movies...

    Ive got to see GL in action yet in a premiere flick (there was a B-Movie JLA before...grrr...sagwa) :lol:

    I remember there was supposed to be a Green Lantern movie a few years ago...it got as far as the first screenplay/draft. It was probably for the better though that it didn't push through, because the rumor was that the GL movie would be an action-comedy and that the producers were considering Jack Black for the title role. As much as I like Jack Black, ain't nobody going to believe he can pull off being a GL!

  17. hmmmm...first pc was 8086 followed by a 286 a few years later. The 8086 didn't have a hard drive, just 2 5.25" floppies. Used to play the first Zork games on that PC! By the time we got the 286, Space Quest, and King's Quest were the games to play....used to spend hours and days playing those classic games. The 286 didn't have a hard drive either at first. We got that about 2 or 3 years later...a whopping 10 MB of space!!! it was great cuz you didn't have to keep switching diskettes playing KQ4 (which had a ridiculous number of game disks...i think it had 7 floppies).

    good times!

  18. Shoot 'Em Up!

    OK, first off all, don't watch this movie with your girl if she's the type who hated k*ll Bill. Instead, go with people who can appreciate an action movie for what it's worth...the hardcore action sequences, the cheesy lines, the cool characters, and the impossible stunts.

    This movie can be described in two words: GUN PORN. If you think Equilibrium was cool and you define the first Matrix movie's gun fight in the elevator lobby as a modern classic, you will not be disappointed in this movie. Don't pay attention to the plot, since it only serves as an excuse for more gun fights. As long as you're not put-off by impossible action scenarios, this movie is well worth the time and money spent.

    This movie defines over-the-top action!
