An analyst believes that the Recto Bank incident is an attempt to drive away Filipino Fishermen so China can set foot in the area. He also said that as Beijing exerts its "hand power" in the West Philippine Sea, Manila should then exhaust its "soft power".

China wants military control of the entire South China Sea to protect the Chinese southern coast from enemy threats, particularly from the US. Much the same way as USA controls the Pacific Ocean to protect the US West Coast from enemy threats.

USA controls the Pacific Ocean though what they call "Island Chains" doctrine to encircle China. The First Island Chain involves strong military presence in the islands of Borneo, Philippines, Taiwan, and Okinawa. The Second Island Chain involves Japan, Guam, and the Marianas Islands. The Third Island Chain involves Aleutians, Oceania, and Hawaiian Islands.

These three island chains will play a major military role to block Chinese and Russian threats from reaching the US West Coast.

Following the same doctrine, China intends to occupy key islands in the Paracels, Spratlys, including Scarborough Shoal. They will build military bases at these key strategic points to block treats to Chinese southern coast from the US and its Western allies.

China does what they are doing now to to protect their country from US attack, just as US is trying to preserve their Island Chains defense perimeter strategy to protect their West Coast from Chinese attack.

We are caught in the middle. In situations like this, is it in our interest to take sides?

  2. Yup our government should have to respond to this incident. Timing is crucial also coz kung pinatagal pa yng relevance naman maaapektuhan. Its too bad na nga at contradicting statements na ang nilabas ng Navy natin at ng Palacio. Even yng aftermath na lang biruin mo iniwan lang nila mga kababayan natin is not that enough to conclude na ang intention ay deliberate? Hit and run sa dagat.

The most immediate response we can do is to get the sworn affidavits of the crew and file a case in the Maritime Courts. It is a felony for any maritime vessel to ignore distress calls and not provide help. They are also required to immediately call a report to specific authorities if they get involved in an accident so that rescue and assistance can be organized.

The problem is the boat captain is wasting time entertaining political interviews with media and opposition politicians instead of doing his job of filing testimonies that can be used in filing a maritime complaint.

  3. is it really rigged?

    No. I don't think it's rigged.

I think its a fairly good reflection of the voters' choices, including Bong Revilla's and Lito Lapid's win.

One thing is very clear based on election results -- people are sick and tired of partisan politics. They want Senate and the House of Representatives to cooperate in the reforms, program of government, and budget with the Office of the President. Tama na away pulitika. Trabaho na.

  4. There must a response in any way or another. Pag pinalampas lang ng gobyerno ito, lalakas ang loob ng mga Chinese na gawin uli yan since they know they can always get away with it.

    https://www.facebook.com/philippinesdefense/videos/1626176854151334/

We will have our response to China in due course.

Wait lang. There's a time and place for everything.

Don't get Mad. Get even. Without the noisy talk and brouhaha.

All braggadocio talk of "...sa manlulupig, di ka pasisiil..." are childish nonsense. Patigas-titi lang nila yan.

Leave it to the professionals, not to the retired armchair strategists having tantrum fits.

  5. from a facebook post :

    Krizette Laureta Chu

Nag back out ang kapitan sa meeting nila ni Duterte.

    JUSKOLORD NANGANGAMOOOOY ISDANG YELLOOOOOW FIN

KUYA, PAANO NA YUNG PINAGLALABAN MONG ACCOUNTABILITY AT YUNG MGA SINASABI MONG SALBAHE ANG CHINA?

GALIT NA GALIT KA BAKIT NGAYON CHANCE MO NA MAG REKLAMO SA PRESIDENTE NG PILIPINAS, UMATRAS KA?!!!

KUYA, HUWAG! pinaglalaban natin ang ating karapatan!!! Ipaglaban ninyo! Bakit ayaw niyo ma meet ang Pangulo??! Baketttt?

gumawa ng gulo so f#&king close to the President’s SONA!

Tsk tsk tsk!

  6.

but dont you think Du3o should demand china to punish the chinese perpetrators? Accident man o hindi they caused damage and that merits justice right?

I am too is disappointed to Du30's lack of balls in this issue, pag basura ng canada go to war agad right? Eto may nasaktan na benefit of the doubt pa rin? hanggang kelan kaya?

Kung sincere ang china at totoong kaibigan they would punish those involved, kahit hiya man lang.

Yes, we should demand punishment after the investigation is completed and it has been proven that it was the Chinese who were at fault.

For now, we have already filed a protest on why they did not stop to assist the crew of the stricken boat. The next move is to wait for the results of investigation.

It has not been determined yet if it happened as accident or if it was done deliberately with criminal intent.

There is an appropriate response for each situation.

You cannot compare this incident with Canadian trash issue. The Canadian trash has been festering for 6 years already and Trudeau made matters worse by embarrassing the Philippine government when he refused to deliver the Combat Utility Helicopters we ordered from them. Our response to cancel the $240 Million helicopter order and then recall our diplomatic corps over the trash issue was the perfect response to Trudeau. Oh, di tiklop si Trudeau, di ba?

We will have our response to China in due course. Wait lang. There's a time and place for everything.

All braggadocio talk of "...sa manlulupig, di ka pasisiil..." are childish nonsense. Don't get Mad. Get even.

    Without the noisy brouhaha.

  7.

I agree. Speak softly but carry a big stick. Lets build up our defensive capabilities especially in the sea, but try not to talk loudly about it.

But Duterte with all his macho talk about drugs, American imperialism and Canada's rubbish is looking like a meek lamb towards China. He should be more consistent. If he is disgusted about the rubbish that Canada dumped in our country then he should be furious that the Chinese refuses to acknowledge and apologize for the incident near Recto Bank.

We should demand that Duterte and his administration condemn China's stance in this matter!

    https://philippinesthesickmanofasia.blogspot.com/2019/06/thank-you-china-for-loving-us.html

Akala ko ba "Speak Softly and Carry a Big Stick"?

Why would you want Du30 to talk loud?

Let's bide our time and get even at the right time using a well-calibrated response.

Besides, it feels like there's something fishy about the fishing boat incident. If i were Du30, I'd rather wait for the complete investigation before opening my mouth.

  8. Possible benefit among others is if China is divided, they would have to guard against each other and not just against outsiders.

That's the short term benefit. They'll be too busy fighting each other to bother us.

The long term benefit ? None.

The long term impact is that we will face a huge destabilized nation who can't control itself, its people in migrating in droves, or worse, exporting their anarchy into their neighboring countries.

  9. Wanna defeat China?

    k*ll them from the inside.

China is not afraid of any countries but they (Communist Party) are afraid of their own people. Main reason why they don't have FB and other foreign soc media. They have their own that they can easily control.

What should be done is to instill some kind of rebellious mindset/ ideology on their citizens.

Ideology that would ultimately result in the division of China. Black propaganda against the Communist should be successfully Desi inated in the country side (like Tibet, HongKong, Etc)

Self destruction. That's the only way.

Anti Communist movement should be empowered. It's hell difficult to infiltrate them but I think it would work if successfully done.

Internal strife is the key. UK have done it in the past during the Opium war - it's tried and tested.

Yes, that's one of US and UK strategies. They use Hong Kong and Taiwan as conduit to sow seeds of dissent, hoping to generate internal strife in the mainland.

The US has been using this "tried and tested" method of instilling antagonistic mindset among political opposition in the Philippines to keep our national leaders off-balanced, constantly besieged by political pressure, forcing them to be subservient to US policies.

In the long run, what benefit would we get from a destabilized, anarchic China?

The Philippines is better off promoting a friendly but independent and neutral foreign and economic ties with both US and China.

We should start by building our own strengths so we will not be used as pawns by either of the two superpowers.

  10. Im from the US so let me give you some perspective. The majority of the US population knows that Trump is an idiot and a con artist. Unfortunately the way our presidential elections are set up, a minority of voters can elect a president. This is happened before, most recently with Bush.

Other countries, including China, also know that Trump is an idiot and a con artist. China, being a very ancient country, will patiently wait for Trump to leave office in 2 years so that they can work with somebody more reasonable. China also knows that the US economy needs China more than China needs the US.

China also knows that Trump is a paper tiger, and will back down from his tough rhetoric and stupid trade policies as soon as he is seriously resisted, as was the case with Mexico this last week.

And the United States will certainly not go to war over the disputed territories and freedom of navigation in the South China Sea. The current administration is just not that interested in supporting friends in Southeast Asia.

There will be no war with China.

There will be no war with China. Not because the current administration is not interested in supporting its friends in Southeast Asia, but because USA can no longer support its allies.

Filipinos should wake up and accept the fact. We are on our own if we take on China.

  11. Ang mapipikon, talo.

Put our naval and air assets to good use. Continue to build more, acquire more, until we can credibly show that we will stand up to them even if they are stronger..

    Calma lang. Wala nang sisihan.

    Don't get mad. Get even.

We calibrate our response to get even according to how much we can get away with.

Any braggadocio talk on how we should stop being subservient and should fight back are nothing but empty childish talk.

  12. The yellow trolls have not been posting after the win of Imee Marcos.

It gives credence to my assertion that these trolls are paid by their yellow political propaganda handlers to post negative campaign messages.

Telltale signs that they are paid trolls:

    1. They post flame bait messages to provoke angry response, especially when the thread discussion is going against their planned direction.

e.g. when discussion is about performance and good governance of the Marcoses in Ilocos, the trolls raise the diploma issue to divert the discussion.

    2. If you ask them to substantiate their claims, they clam up. Tiklop agad. They do not intend to engage in intelligent discussion, they just want to derail any other discussion that stray from their planned agenda.

    3. They are mostly clueless about what they are posting about. Mainly because they are only told by their handlers what to post. That is another reason why they cannot intelligently debate on the matter.

    4. After the issue has died down, they disappear/ hibernate. Probably waiting for new instructions from their handlers.

    5. They have multiple alternicks.

  14. Make it mandatory for Contractors doing Foreign-Assisted Construction Projects in the Philippines to hire Filipino workers.

Chinese Contractors are notorious for bringing in Chinese workers to do jobs that local Filipinos are well capable of doing.

  15. Law makers should have law degree.

All public officials not having monetary compensation but sort of benefit to take care of his or his family's needs.

Almost all constitutions of countries, including the Philippines, do not have mandatory educational requirement for elected positions.

Why do you think those who make the laws must be lawyers?
