  1. Looks like Greg Slaughter has improved by leaps and bounds. 25 points and 11 rebounds against 6 NBA draft prospects. That's quite impressive.

  2. bakit di kasi nila binigyan ng chance si adam parada. the mexican-american center(played in previous mexican national team) who had stint with red bull?

siya mismo ang nagalok ng service niya sa national team because he really wants to help the team (not just because of money, but because his wife is a filipina). why looking for players who haven't really been in the philippines, and doesn't want to stay long in the philippines?

i believe parada plays for the mexican national team

in short, FIBA rules, ineligible na sya to play for any other country other than Mexico

  3. On Aguilar v Williams, one-to-one on the SF, the short answer is, yes.

The long answer is, you are right, it is a team game and team defense is the key. It really does depend on how fast one can get up and down the court and defend.

However, I am banking on Aguilar's relative youth, athleticism and height v other Asian SF. Again, it will be very hard for anyone to match up (in the Asian level) some who's 6'9", na merong consistent mid-range shot, na alam mo na kapag dinikitan mo ng husto kaya kang pakainin ng alikabok and then finishing it with a slam.

But then again, what do I know :)

    Isa lamang akong arm-chair analyst.

Also, for me si Freeman ang yardstick among the current batch of imports..

  5. Aso, kindly tell me what your basis is for saying that this wishful thinking? Many didn't think Iran could be an Asian power. Look what happened? Haddadi simply dominated Yi and it's not far-fetched that he could do the same to Yao. Pipe dream ba para sayo? Siguro para sayo since my posts are negative to you. It figures since I've always humiliated you.

I'm sticking to my guns: I think it would be to SG's advantage if Aguilar is developed in the SF position.

Within the foreseeable future, best to have a naturalized import deal with Haddadi and Yao (and Yi) in the center spot. There simply isnt time to get Slaughter (or Aguilar) to that level. Baka by 2016, siguro, but not likely by 2012.

However, at 6'9", and athleticism to boot, Aguilar can dominate the SF position today. Simply putting it, mas angat ang laro ni Aguilar (sa SF position) contra sa Asian powerhouses. (Should I dare say it?) baka nga, even enough to be noticed by the Euroleague. Again, I think the only thing missing from Aguilar's game to do this is consistency in his mid-range and long-range jump shots. Di na bale ung 3-points, sila Lassiter, Casio, Barcael at Tiu na bahala dun; meaning, we have an abundance of guards to get the job done.

As for Greg Slaughter, again palagay ko mas madami pang exposure ang kailangan nya. Definitely good enough today as a reliever, that's for sure, but not enough to be the mainstay center, at least not until the next 2 or 3 years.

Which means in my mind, sino ang magiging mainstay PF? Al-Husseini, Ballesteros?

Just to wet our imaginations a bit....

What if, ito ang naging starting line up ng SG?

    C - (unnamed 7-foot import)

    PF - Greg Slaughter

    SF - Japeth Aguilar

    SG - Kelly Williams

    PG - Marcio Lassiter

Maski saan mong league dalhin ang line-up na iyan, hindi tayo na tayo dehado sa size! he he he

  6. kudos to SMB last night....talagang ganun eh, malakas talaga ang team ng San Miguel.

twas a good game, kailangan lang talagang may manalo at matalo

as for storey v freeman: tama ung poster above. kung mahirap talaga ma-stop ung talent ni freeman. dapat ung offense ni storey ang nag-neutralize sa contribution nya.

also, storey fouling out?!? kung tama alala ko, 2 were offensive fouls tapos ang isang defensive foul wala pang kwenta, ano ba yan?

btw, okay ung laro ni de ocampo, menk, wilson tsaka hatfield. they played their roles effectively.

also sila baguio at tubid, hanep din laro, they took over the game sa nawalang si storey

  7. Christian Standhardinger, dba naglaro yan for Germany U-18 team?

    baka naman nde mag-qualify

also....agree with Kanski, after Lutz, dapat un na ang last na foreign recruit (unless fil-for na pang-centro)

im wondering however, na-develop na kaya kay japeth ung jump shots nya? he has hops, that is a given, but how about his mid-range jumpers?

in my opinion, japeth's game pales in comparison sa center and pf positions if he is expected to bang bodies with the likes of haddadi or jian lian

however, he would certainly be awesome in the the SF position and quite frankly, i do think that if he dominates that position....ang laki ng bentahe ng gilas over sa asian competitors natin

sakit sa ulo sa match-ups yan, kahit sa anong league mo dalhin

  8. As far as I'm concerned, when SG goes to a tournament against top-notch European teams, a single win is relatively successful.

reality check tayo sir, the team that SG beat is not top-notch, as i understand it, Div 2 team un, parang D-league

talo tayo sa Div 1 nila, in fact ung 2 ata tambakan blues ang nangyari

however, i would have to agree with celts, success is defined by one's achievement of the goal

the goal was to learn and prepare themselves for when it really counts

I have very high doubts (quite frankly) sa benefits ng Australian tour nila, kahit na panay panalo sila dun baka kasi walang naidagdag sa kaban nila ung exhibition matches nila dun

unlike sa Serbia stint, kahit panay talo, kung meron silang naiuwing learning....ung ang maituturing na success and not the win-loss card

  9. SG had a relatively successful campaign in its recent European tour. Their record was 1-4 but that's good enough considering that they were ranged up against taller and seasoned players.

Quick question, good enough for what?

  10. my 2 cents vs Sta. Lucia

what killed them was their turnovers and the massive rebounding machine in Sta. Lucia's import

:thumbsupsmiley: :thumbsupsmiley: :thumbsupsmiley:
Uuuuuuuy! Bati na sila ni Kermit!
  12. Our patriotism can be measured by a karaoke machine. It's lame. :upside:

    Sad but true....

anyone else would tarnish his legacy

  13. Clottey = financial literate boxer!

Why is it that the NHI always make it an issue about the singing of the national anthem particularly in a Pacquiao fight other than that wala ka na maririnig sa kanila na may sintunado or iniba ang style like for example sa opening mg other major events i'm sure may nangyayari din ganun pero parang hindi nila pinapakialam.

Kasi may batas. At mandate ng NHI to preserve the historical identities of the Filipino.

Kung palagay nyo over-rated and batas na ito, then by all means, dapat ipa-repeal ito through congress. Otherwise, ginagawa lang nila ang trabaho nila. Truth be said, kung hindi sila mag-rereklamo, sila naman ang lalabag sa batas.

  14. ^^Well nde ako law expert....and by no means know all that much about California State Laws or US Federal Laws

  15. The National Historical Institute is again meddling with regards to the way the Philippine national anthem is being rendered why is it that everytime Pacquiao fight this has to be an issue. Dapat i boycott na ng United Artist of the Philippines na kumanta sa next fight in Pacquiao or other national events that the singing of the Philippine National Anthem is needed so that wala na magiging issue magpatugtog nalang sila ng recorded na national anthem para wala na problema. Actually it is no such big deal daming tao lang talaga na walang magawa sa buhay na gustong magpapansin at sumawsaw sa issue. It is such a shame to our country.
Hindi naman sa walang magawa, but there is a law on how to sing, play and how each Filipino is to act with regard to the national anthem.

My vote is for Wowowee's ASF dancers!

Tapos meron ding "congratulations" sa dulo!

  16. He

He's 6'9", easily pang- forward-center sa Asian Bball

Baka kayanin pa ung budget :)

i suppose with the money already spent for this team we could easily scout for a couple of good boxer then train them for the olympic gold.... this teams target is only for the qualifyng for an olympic berth which is really a tall order considering we still haven' found a player to man the slot.... we should learn from our experience with manny pacquiao.... he has con

    Read this: --------------->>> http://www.gmanews.tv/story/185888/the-fin...etball-by-blood

The Final Score: Boxing by Heart. Basketball by Blood by Mico Halili

We love Pacquiao today. We’ll surely go bananas for boxing on Sunday. But we will always be a basketball nation. One won’t find summer boxing meets in every corner. Starting this month, basketball tournaments will sprout in all forms: inter-barangay, inter-village, inter-color, inter-everything. The average Filipino will be hard-pressed to name five boxers who actively fight for a living. That same person will find it just as hard to name five able-bodied Filipino males who don’t dribble a basketball by choice.

Dont reply until you've read the above

  17. just to clarify...

I too will be hugely disappointed on the prospect of a Seigle-Caguioa trade and I very much doubt that that would materialize; i.e. "rumor of a player being reunited with an old coach"

  18. @kihlua23

Dont know exactly the name of the "rule," on franchise players

But as far as I can recall, the only player that SMB can trade Danny S for with BGK is Mark Caguioa

Unless of course, both teams have replaced their protected players
