  1. ..................artistang asawang baliw ph34r.gif . His stats show naman. In the past PJ Simon's a sleeper, now lang sa past 4 games siya nagpakitang lakas wink.gif Back to Ginebra, I liked the way Hatfield fought for the ball last night mas lalo ng nag pa gulong gulong sila ni Aliado ata yun for the loose ball. When and susunod na laban?

i was watching the game last night and surprisingly rinig mo boos from bmeg fans! di ito nangyayari noon. obviously, mas marami na ang fans ng bmeg na nanonood ng live kagabi! outnumbered na ang baranggay ginebra... a championship might bring back the fans (including me :) )

Or better yet, mag-uumpisa ako ng semen drive.

"Semilya, mula sa puso....for the benefit of the Philippine basketball dream"

  3. smart gilas can still improve until the fiba asia which is much important than asian games. the boys did all their best and we have to give them credits. good job team. im still proud of smart gilas. and im still optimistic we can regain our lost glory. tigilan na lang ung pulitka sa sports at magkasundo lahat ng stakeholders and lets all get into business.

    ahem....

the asian games is important to national prestige not just basketball but for the national sports program.

i agree that one should not take its eyes from the goal (Olympic qualifier in 2012)

however, if this is a project....the Asian Games would be THE major milestone prior to 2012, which unfortunately they valiantly failed

At this stage of their development, they still fall short of expectation.

For note, I don't believe that Douthit's inclusion to the team would have made changed the outcome significantly.

Yes, we'd probably get a couple more points from inside play but I Taulava and Slaughter held their own quite well.

With Douthit probably we'd somehow figure to 4th place but still, that is just one notch higher than where SG will probably end with.

but I think the huge let down was the inability of the guards to take over the game, Chris Lutz, in particular. The main reason why he was included was for his outside shooting and I'm sorry, since Las Vegas last year, parang naiwan yata sa desyerto ang husay nya.

Isa pang malaking letdown is Japeth Aguilar. Tell me, who lets himself get injured right before the biggest games to date?

At the very least, next Asian games, we won't have to deal with an extra game in the classification phase.

I think notes for SG to improve on:

    • Keep the core of the team intact. Critical as I may be on the guards but I think we will win and lose on how they can keep the team together
    • Kelly Williams should stay on board. Bitiwan na siya ng TNT, but as soon as this conference ends, KW should practice and play full time with SG na parang si Aguilar
    • Check Japeth Aguilar's attitude

^^^Another nuisance post ...I don't know if one is just too ignorant of the current events.

    :P

ummm, speculative pa din. maybe not yours but Zubiri's :D

  4. sayang. better luck next time. at sana sa next time na yun injury free na ang mga players at approved na ang naturalization candidate ng gilas.

    i still believe.

    go team pilipinas!

Douthit's naturalization papers released shortly before the team left for China, not sure, but I think na-issua-han na din sya ng passport as well.

Kaya lang nde nakasali siya (i believe) is nde sya napalista sa original list na submit ng SBP to the organizers.

  5. ^^actually, being second to SMB isnt really a bad thing

  6. about the last game...

bear in mind, mahaba pa po yung oras at that time, also if im not mistaken, after nung first shot, na-reset ang shot clock

the league's #1 offensive team as ganung kahabang oras....i'm pretty sure maka-ka-score sila

kung baga, in my mind habang nanunuod ako, inevitable ung change ng lead, if not washington, maaring iba

it was a game they could have won back, kaso ewan kung ung ginawa ni miller is designed nila AFTER A TIMEOUT or sadyang nag-bwakaw lang talaga si miller

  7. umpisahan na ang sisihan!

    mga naysayers, pasok!

tomorrow's sports section: quotes from Yeng Guiao ang headline

    he he he.

@azelmd, actually, kung mapapanuod mo, the game wasn't really that close.

Pasensya na, am just calling a spade a spade.

I dont think the Koreans even felt threatened by SG's runs

in short, the entire game, outclassed po ang mga bata natin....sorry

  8. Win or lose tommorow against SoKor, Gilas gained huge dividends by playing in the Asian Games a good prep field towards FIBA - Asia. The coaches surely spotted the holes to plug and things to fix with this team, I'm just hoping that Asi, Kelly and Mercado can continue to be Gilas for the FIBA...

For tommorow I give SG a darkhorse's chance against SoKor.

On the contrary, with all due respect to Asi Taulava, palagay ko ito na dapat ang last time he represents PHL

hats off to Paulasi, you did well, but its time for the likes of (Rabeh din sana), Greg Slaughter, Japeth Aguilar and Marcus Douthit to take the mantle.

I think Kelly Williams should stay on board until next year, playing the 3 or 2 position, rather than the 4 spot. Palagay ko talo talaga si Williams sa matchups sa PF position; however, switch him over the 3rd spot, mismatch galore ito for SG.

However, Sol Mercado? Meron na silang 3 players playing the same position in Tiu, Baracael and Lassiter. Kung may balak pa silang humugot sa PBA ng isa pang player, he should be a workhorse in the mold of Rudy Hatfield, Rico Meirhofer, or even a Rayniel Hugnatan.

Although, there is much to be desired (still) from Chris Lutz. If ever they would still consider a PBA reinforcement in the guard spot, I'd choose a Ronald Tubid or Dondon Hontiveros over Mercado. IMHO

Baracael, Tiu, Lutz, and Williams, I think should take it upon themselves as the teams' #1 option in offense

    kayang kaya nila talunin smb.

BGK fan po ako....but lets call a spade a spade

twice naglaban, pareho naging resulta which is talo

the only thing na ipinakita ng BGK kagabi is kaya nilang talunin any team in the PBA except SMB, at least for now.

Jong Uichico should go back to drawing that play on Miller, walang screens at na-isolate si Miller one on one with a much bigger defender. Parang replay talaga ito ng unang laban

A heartbreaking loss ... in hindsight defensive lapses did us in. On a critical possession we have hatfield playing Center and willy wilson as the PF against a tall SMC frontline. Then again,we still had our chance to win had not for a repeat of the last play in our lost to SMC. Si Miller na naman ang last play against a tall defender in Santos.

But despite the loss, it was a great game by the Kings.

i beg to disagree, but i think their defense held well against SMB's offense

palagay ko its SMB's defense that did the game for BGK last night

there were 3 consecutive possessions na inabutan ng shotclock ang BGK

and if i recall it right, nasundan pa ng at least dalawa pa

not to mention....how many shots were blocked

  10. Good point. I was thinking along these lines. China routed RP by 60 points in the first meeting in the 1990 Beijing Asian Games and in the gold medal game, RP lost by only 14. SG may have held back during the game against Iran.

I'm sorry...my comment was more of a joke than anything

SG was routed by a better, stronger, depleted Iranian National team

and you may disagree, but to me, that is fact

  11. The loss to Iran may turn out to be an eye opener for the team. Hopefully, SG makes the right adjustments to set up a probable rematch with the Iranians.

well if my memory serves me correctly,

the Jawo-led all-PBA team got walloped when they first tangled with China early during the elimination round

but in doing so, na-avoid nila meeting China again until finals na, wherein, the score was much closer and did not really tell the complete story of how close RP got to making gold

All I'm saying is, baka psy war lang ng SG sa Iran para sa positioning....sana! he he he
