  1. Although there are those who get complete eradication of the virus, for most part treatment can only suppress the activity of the virus to the point that they are not causing harm to the body. Withdrawing of treatment after treatment goals are achieved may lead to recurrence or re-increase of the virus. Treatment make likewise give rise to "mutant" strains of the virus which may be more resistant to the original medication given.

    In short, masalimuot po mag-treat ng hepatitis B. But studies are currently being undertaken to improve the chance of cure or at least, control of the virus to prevent the long term complications - cirrrhosis and liver cancer

    yes, kaya pa-vaccine na lang pag wala pa hep b.....preventive medicine..... :thumbsupsmiley:

  2. just want to clarify things...treatment of hepatitis B doesn't mean that after the treatment you are cured. it only slows down the disease. am i right doctors?

  3. Let me complicate things further. I used to have what the doctor called Positional Vertigo. My problem was if I got up from bed quickly, I would feel dizzy. Also, some sudden head movements would make me feel dizzy.

    I said used to because I no longer have these symptoms anymore. Can't really say what cured me. But, knock on wood, hope the symptoms never come back.

    several types of vertigo

    1. paroxysmal vertigo-the sudden attack which comes on quickly, last only a short time (sec to hrs) then goes away just as quickly. Recurs after symptom-free interval

    2. The single, severe attack fading away much more slowly than the first type. it takes days and even weeks to disappear completely

    3. Chronic vertigo, often not serious but - with small flare ups - permanently present. last for months without change

    4. Positioning vertigo - occurs following sudden movements of the head, often in one particular plane

    5. dizziness spells, lasting a few seconds, occurring irregularly

  4. Well, theoretically mas mataas ang chance mo mahawa ng sakit pag may singaw ka and you go down on a girl na may sakit. Yung singaw kasi e parang sugat where bacteria and viruses can get in and infect your body. May mga mikrobyo na pde maginfect lang ng bibig mo, meron din na pdeng kumalat sa katawan mo (e.g. HIV or Hepa B). Actually kahit wala ka singaw pde kang makakuha ng sakit when going down on a girl.

    agree...dami puede makuha ....like gono pharyngitis....syphilis...to name a few....so be very careful

  5. If hygiene does not work, bka may iba pang cause ang bad breath. GERD or gastroesophageal reflux (- simply put when stomach contents goes back into the esophagus or throat) is one cause. In these cases, you have to be treated for the condition para ma-eliminate yung bad breath. you might have to see a doctor to know if you have other symptoms referrable to this condition (GERD)

    and also have an ENT check-up.....sinusitis is also one of the culprit.....

    there's no harm in trying....but then again......naniniwala pa rin ba kayo sa mga commercials ????

  8. does HPV clear away on its own?

    There are treatments for genital warts, though they often disappear even without treatment. There is no way to predict whether the warts will grow or disappear. Therefore, if you suspect you have genital warts, you should be examined and treated, if necessary.

    Depending on factors such as the size and location of your genital warts, your health care provider will offer you one of several ways to treat them.

    * Imiquimod cream

    * 20 percent podophyllin antimitotic solution

    * 0.5 percent podofilox solution

    * 5 percent 5-fluorouracil cream

    * Trichloroacetic acid (TCA)

    If you are pregnant, you should not use podophyllin or podofilox because they are absorbed by your skin and may cause birth defects in your baby. In addition, you should not use 5-fluorouracil cream if you are pregnant.

    If you have small warts, your health care provider can remove them by one of three methods.

    * Freezing (cryosurgery)

    * Burning (electrocautery)

    * Laser treatment

    If you have large warts that have not responded to other treatment, you may have to have surgery to remove them.

    Some health care providers inject the antiviral drug alpha interferon directly into warts that have returned after removal by traditional means. The drug is expensive, however, and does not reduce the rate that the genital warts return.

    Although treatments can get rid of the warts, none get rid of the virus. Because the virus is still present in your body, warts often come back after treatment.

  9. kUNG GUSTO MO MAS TOXIC NA REGIMEN YOU CAN GO FOR CEFTRIAXONE 125MG/IM (INTRAMUSCULAR) PARA SA GONORRHEA THEN DOXYCYCLINE 100MG/TAB 2X A DAY X 7DAYS TO COVER FOR CHLAMYDIA. DI MO KASI MASABI IF YOU HAVE ONE OR BOTH SYMPTOMWISE. ZITHROMAX IS A GOOD ALTERNATIVE FOR CHLAMYDIA.

    yup, standard treatment for std cases...(imho) you should have a loading dose of doxy 200mg on the first day.

  10. Hi, all!

    After reading the gym pet peeves, I'd like to ask your side about pool behavior.

    Being a common or public pool (which is usually the case), I hate it when:

    While swimming laps or working out, others annoyingly jump into the pool along your path

    Others horseplay and push each other into the pool while others are using it unmindful of possibly hitting others

    Boisterous laughter

    Crossing your lane at the wrong time (causing you to miss your stroke or swallow water)

    Urinate in the pool (other seven announce it---time out, weewee lang ako)

    Yours comments?

    Regards

    you are right, tagal na din di ako nag-llap sa pool....madalas sa sobrang dami ng chlorine , after ilang days lang puro skin dse na ang balat ko.... :thumbsdownsmiley:

  12. Definitely a myth. Although women in general are more prone to want having sex with the one they love, there are some situations when it's really not possible ( the loved one could be suffering from erectile dysfunction, impotence, etc and the woman has a very high libido).

    Yes and no, grayle. Yes, sometimes you get so horny that you agree to have sex with someone you met in the bar just because he was available. But I'd like to believe that most of the time ( at least for me), having sex with someone I don't love is a matter of choice and not just because of a " weak" moment. :)

    yes, you are right !!!!

  13. ask ko lang about the article ;

    Ravussin has published other studies that also dispute the idea that exercise builds muscle that helps people lose weight.

    "If anything, highly trained people are highly efficient, so they burn fewer calories at rest," Ravussin said.

    Dieting alone also did not appear to cause the volunteers to lose muscle mass along with fat, Ravussin's team found.

    so guys, ano comment nyo dito? tama ba ang research nya ? may local Research na ba sa atin to dispute his claim ? and i mean scientific research or medical research hindi kasama un mga haka-haka at pala-palagay !

    peace !!!!

    Diet, exercise take off equal pounds, study finds

    By Maggie Fox, Health and Science Editor Fri Jan 26, 10:13 AM ET

    WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Eating less and exercising more are equally good at helping take off the pounds, U.S. researchers said on Friday in a study that challenges many of the popular tenets of the multibillion dollar diet and fitness industry. Tests on overweight people show that a calorie is just a calorie, whether lost by dieting or by running, they said.

    They found there is no way to selectively lose belly fat, for instance, or trim thighs. And their carefully controlled study added to evidence that adding muscle mass does not somehow boost metabolism and help dieters take off even more weight.

    "It's all about the calories," said Dr. Eric Ravussin of the Pennington Biomedical Research Center, part of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge.

    "So long as the energy deficit is the same, body weight, fat weight, and abdominal fat will all decrease in the same way."

    Ravussin said the study, published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, is one of the few done under controlled conditions that can actually demonstrate what happens to a human body while dieting and exercising.

    Ravussin's team has been testing volunteers for another reason -- to see if taking in fewer calories helps people live longer. Strict diets have been shown to help animals from worms to dogs live longer, but it takes longer to study monkeys and humans.

    They tested 24 people, 12 who ate a calorie-restricted diet, and 12 who dieted and also exercised five times a week for six months.

    The dieters ate 25 percent less than normal, while the exercisers reduced their calorie intake by 12.5 percent and increased their physical activity to lose an extra 12.5 percent in calories.

    Another 10 volunteers acted as controls. All food was provided by the university in carefully measured portions for most of the study.

    The volunteers in both groups lost about 10 percent of their body weight, 24 percent of their fat mass, and 27 percent of their abdominal visceral fat. Visceral fat is packed in between the internal organs and is considered the most dangerous type of fat, linked with heart disease and diabetes.

    The distribution of the fat on the body was not altered by either approach -- helping prove that there is no such thing as "spot reducing," Ravussin said in a telephone interview.

    This suggests that "individuals are genetically programmed for fat storage in a particular pattern and that this programming cannot easily be overcome," he added.

    "There is a concept that if you exercise, you are going to lose less of your muscle," he said. But his team found no evidence this is true.

    Ravussin believes exercise is crucial to health, however.

    "For overall health, an appropriate program of diet and exercise is still the best," he said.

    His team found some small suggestion that cutting 25 percent of calories by either diet or diet and exercise might extend life.

    "We found that 2 of the biomarkers of aging were improved -- core temperature was 0.4 to 0.5 degrees C less," he said. "Insulin, which has been shown to be a biomarker of aging, was reduced," Ravussin said. That finding was published in the

    Journal of the American Medical Association last April.
