Pugo played the character of Mang Nano, while Bentot played the character of Bitoy in Tang Tarantang

Leroy Salvador was Badong; Sylvia La Torre was Ibyang; Rosa Aguirre was Aling Charing

... and I think there was a wild card: Ex-Sen. Eddie Ilarde as Pancracia

Thanks for the confirmation re Bitoy. I thought my memory failed me hehe.

Yes who can forget Badong and Aling Charing and Ibyang? Is this the show where Pugo popularized the term dasalasanansens? LoL.

Pare I think you are referring to Eddie San jose, who I think was a suitor of Ibyang, but who can't get beyond first base even though he was rich kasi hinihika pag nagsasalita!

That Pancracia, I can't remember that hehe

the series Tangtarantang spawned several spin-offs including My Son My Son and then Son of My Son, both with Bentot. somehow, Bentot never made it past his bread and butter role of an overgrown baby.

Cafe Aroma of Apeng Daldal is probably one of the earliest sitcoms that incorporated topics on current events. a comedian that goes by the name of "Manok" and guitar virtuoso Miniong Villegas also formed part of the cast. this is in channel7

Christmas shopping place was Avenida Rizal.

Cafe Aroma was a favorite of mine then. I think it aired at 11am. This was Apeng at his best.

Yes, Cafeteria Aroma aired at 11am. The set-up was like a take off Johnny Carson's show where it opens with Apeng Daldal starting his spiel in a desk. The show was actually running til the early part of the mid 80s.

Yeah Cafeteria Aroma. Thanks for the correction. Its format was novel for that time, and still is today. I don't see any local shows doing it like that, and of course there's nobody now like Apeng Daldal.

When Apeng talks, para syang hinihika. I think he really had asthma, and that is what I think he died of.

Nanonood ako ng TV minsan and I came across the classic television show, “I Love Lucy”. I realized that isa na ito sa pinakamagandang TV series na nagawa dahil hanggang ngayon, many years after it was first shown, people still enjoy watching it at any given hour around the world.

Tatay ni Sylvia si Pugo, a.k.a. Later on, binago ang show, ginawang “Sebya Mahal Kita.” Iyon pa rin ang cast at si Beer Flores (mahilig sa beer just like any writer) pa rin ang sumusulat. Maraming expression ang sumikat doon, kagaya ng “nukso ka ng nukso” ni Bitoy, “Das alas a nonsense” ni Mang Nano, “Tang, how could you do such a do?” ni Sebya. Si Sebya naman, komo nahihiya sa biyenan niya susumbatan siya: “Tang, how could you do such a do?” Bentot, the comedian, used to be our neighbor in Quezon City.

Come to think of it, ang “Sebya Mahal Kita” ay maaring pinatern ni Beer Flores sa “I Love Lucy” na sikat at pinapalabas sa American television at that time. Ang translation ng “Sebya Mahal Kita” sa Ingles ay “I Love Sebya.” Ang Sebya ay Tagalog nickname ng “Silvia” which is the name of the lead actress, Silvia La Torre. I sincerely believe that Beer Flores, being the creative genius that he was, independently created the show with no influence of the American TV series. It was a strange coincidence, but that goes to show how good and creative Beer Flores was as a writer.

Sound effects lamang iyon.

I hope they have our old tv shows on archive so that they can show them again, like Lucy. Seeing the stills of photographer from Tangtarangtang made me nostalgic. For that matter I would like to see again Tisoy, Baltic and Co., Cafeteria Aroma, Buhay Artista, the old variety show of Oscar Obligacion, even the old game show of Jeanne Young - Spin A Win hehehe
