Back To The 70's

Mas daring lang silang pumorma kasi ginastusan nila yung pagbabae nila. Pero hindi pa rin nila ako maloloko. Last time I went to MANGO or MNG, was helping my wife looking for shirts, I saw them na nakikipag-agawan sa mga legit na women. :grr:

That was what I was saying to myself a few years back, sabi ko di nila ako maloloko but there was one time sa boracay grabe I can't believe that SHE was a HE, tapos naka 2 piece pa!!

Hehehe. A few years ago, over a lot of beer, I was told of an experience about someone who picked up another someone. Ang ganda kasi. Later, it turned out that the SHE was a HE. Inupakan niya tuloy. During that little discussion over beer, even our female friends around acknowledged that those "nagbababae," especially those who really know how, at times look prettier than the tunay.

Iba nga, neighborhood-based. The other word for bell-bottoms was "flair." Kung tailored yung jeans or double-knit pants, some people preferred to have them cover their shoes entirely. Kakatawa tignan sa old photos.

Welcome to the 70s nouse4aname!

We used to go to Jun Jun Cambe for our pang typar pants kasi graduate din siya ng Notre kaya may discount.

it was just great seeing the great Bangkok poet, rocker, DJ, writer hehehe.

yes pare they were there...tuwang tuwa sila sa food - I think they had a great time - was waiting for you and storm...

You must have seen the place after our closing time - 10:30 pm sayang..but we were there up to almost 11 and we took them back to the hotel..

yes I'll hear from you again before you leave, ok?

pare, we returned to the land of smiles yesterday...too bad i wasn't able to call or txt you...pero di bale, i may be back sometime in feb...glad to know leo and maria enjoyed their stay...i also had a great time listening to crossover 105 during the weekends there. they still play lots of 70s-80s jazz. if there's one thing i miss, it's radio in manila...here we go again, lamenting the lack of a radio station that plays 70s rock...went to anilao fri-sun with my college buddies and did nothing but drink wine and listen to allman, zep, guess who...yes, we just let the good times roll...hey, is also watched a live dvd of john mayall...grabe, i think he is nearly close to 70 pero rocker pa rin, naka leather at kamiseta pa

wow! that sure was a blast you had at anilao!

John Mayall released a new album around 2003 and it sure was great!

Glad to know you made it back safe there...sure we meet again if you're here and this time we listen to some 70's rock, ok?

definitely...i'm looking at the third week of feb. will give advance notice so that the eb will include not only you and storm but other interesting characters in this thread, heh, heh...the mayall dvd was great, especially the guitarist...didn't get his name, pero mataba...really missed manila pare, despite the traffic and the u-turns which took a bit of getting used to...actually, the traffic is almost the same. i'm also amazed at the number of new restos and bars everywhere, most of which i didn't see back in 2001. also, there seems to be a jollibee and chow king on every corner at 24 hours pa! eto ba ang naghihirap na bansa? i remember marcos saying back in the 70s that "we are a rich country pretending to be poor".

yeah remember that's what leo and maria also said......a lot of places sprung up in the last 2 or 3 years talaga - I don't know how these places make money because there are a lot of them already...

The new John Mayall album I have also have a lot of great guitarists on board pero wala liner credits yung nabili ko kasi cassette lang..

Icons of the '70s:

Colt Lancer 1976 - You are one cool dude if you own the GSR 2 door version....

Corona Macho Machine - Ka liga mo sina Jawo pag meron ka nito

Bell bottom Pants - Di ka groovy, if you are walking the streets with straight cut pants.

Hi to storm, jt2003 and bods1000! I didn't know this thread existed! It feels like the 36 and up room.

I recall a great deal of the 70s which also happens to be the decade when I transitioned from childhood to young adult. I favored tie-dyed shirts and jeans with stars and stripes emblazoned on them, wore my hair really long and often went to school in a cannabic haze. This was in grade 7! High school was four years of overt and subtle rebellion and striving not to get caught even as I made good grades to the consternation of my teachers. :P

Martial law holds a lot of memories for me and greatly shaped my political thinking long before I went to the university (State U Diliman, of course). Ironically, my family was Nacionalista and my late father was in the same fraternity as Marcos. I denied my legacy and outrightly refused to become an Upsilonian, horrified at the thought of regarding the dictator as a "brod". <_<

The stickiest part of the 70s in my mind was the music. No doubt about it.

Welcome to the 70s pareng Java. This thread feels like the boy's room of the 36 and up room.

Pareng Sally, I'm glad you're home safe.

Tapos JBL or Altec Lansing or AR or Bose speakers. Early 70s nauso yung parang treasure chest ang mga stereo, either Sansui, Akai, National Panasonic (makers of Technics), or Marantz amplifiers with Teac or Akai open reel tape deck and garrard turntable.

One of the most memorable 70s (1972?) sporting events (although most US publications don't consider chess as a sport) was that Fischer-Spassky match-up for the world championship. Once it was over, there were books and pamphlets all around analyzing the games. One unforgettable pic was that of Fischer covering his face with both hands while waiting for Spassky's move.

hey storm, how's it going? do you mean if someone wants to commission a painting? to be honest, i have no idea of what the art scene here is all about, although there are many galleries and artists. not that the thais are uncultured...i just think the art scene in manila is more vibrant. but i will keep my eyes and ears open for anyone wanting to know more about your talents. heh, heh, hayaan mo, if the book i'm writing ever gets published, ill commission you to come up with a design for the cover!
