since the green bay-baltimore monday night game will have no bearing in the playoff run... here is the current playoff race picture...

for the afc...

indianapolis (13-1) (south)

cincinnati (11-3) (north)

denver (11-3) (west)

new england (9-5) (east)

wild card chase...

jacksonville (10-4) (south)

san diego (9-5) (west)

pittsburgh (9-5) (north)

kansas city (8-6) (west)

* jacksonville will have the lightest schedule among the four as they travel next to houston... then wrap up their season at home against tennessee...

*san diego's next stop will be pivotal as they travel to the arrowhead stadium to face kansas city... next will be a vital home stand against division leader denver...

*pittsburgh next assignment will be a visit to cleveland... their season ends with a home game against already ousted detroit...

*kansas city will welcome san diego next week... if they happen to win and other playoff hopefuls lose... the chiefs will still have to face a tough assignment as cincinnati visits them in the final week...

for the nfc...

seattle (12-2) (west)

chicago (10-4) (north)

ny giants (10-4) (east)

carolina (10-4) (south)

wild card chase...

tampa bay (9-5) (south)

atlanta (8-6) (south)

washington (8-6) (east)

dallas (8-6) (east)

minnesota (8-6) (north)

*tampa bay collides with atlanta at home next week in a pivotal division match... new orleans' visit concludes the bucs' season...

*atlanta comes in tampa bay hoping to salvage at least a wildcard spot... but tough becomes tougher as they end their season with a visit from current division leader carolina...

*the re-emerging washington hosts co-playoff hopeful ny giants next week... a trip to the city of brotherly love concludes the skins' schedule...

*dallas visits carolina next week... then host st. louis in the final week...

*minnesota needs to make a trip to baltimore to bolster their playoff renaissance... a win over the potent raven defense is not the final hurdle yet as they host the stiff chicago unit...

four teams have already won their divisions and took playoff seats in the afc... among the four, indianapolis has one of the first-round byes... the other will be contested by cincinatti and denver... the two wildcard spots are up for grabs with jacksonville and pittsburgh having the inside track since both have easier schedules and need not to collide with each other unlike san diego and kansas city...

seattle is the first team to grab a division title and playoff spot in the nfc... the playoff picture is still blurred in the nfc with eight teams vying for a post-season appearance... wins by chicago, ny giants, and carolina will give them both the playoff seat and division title... week 16 will be a pivotal one...
