Brilliant Gamplan by Greg Jackson. Luring Chuck into a false sense of security in the first round by having him chase Rashad all around before finally landing that overhand right (or was it a left) to finish him off. True Chuck's gameplan is already well scouted especially by the people from the Jackson camp who know seem to have Chuck's number. First Jardine and now Rashad Evans.

Rich simply peppered Matt Hammil on the feet with strikes and defended takedowns. A simple gameplan against someone who I consider to be a one-dimensional fighter.

And Dangerous Dan played it safe against Rousimar Palhares. 'Sprawl and Brawl' had that right hand cocked all the time waiting for Palhares' shot.

ovehand right chief, he got caught with it trying to sneak in an uppercut. not a huge Liddel fan, but i wanted Chuck to beat that SOB Evans, he started out ok when i watched him in TUF, but after that Tito fight he never was the same. started to trash talk most of the time, showboat like an idiot. i dunno what those nipple pinches were for while they were being introduced, some would find it funny, but i find it a bad way to taunt your opponent. yeah he's good and all but he showboats like a f#&k, he gets first dibs now for Forrest's belt, and God i hope Forrest schools that MOFO. some say that Forrest is in a disadvantage with Rashad, but i don'tthink so, Forrest is a bit taller than Chuck (i think), he's got more dimensions to his game (leg kicks & subs), he'd also slug it out with Evans if necessary. but yeah before Evans fights him, Evans should fight Lyoto first to decide who is #1, since Thiago is out with an injury.

yep the leg kicks really mattered in the long run, it softened up Hammil and Rich mixed everything up well.

hehehe i laughed when Dan Hendo walked up to Palhares after the fight and grabbed his chin and said "chin". that was a scary fight, Palhares had Dan Hendo in several kneebars/heelhooks in the duration of the fight, it was a good thing that Hendo was able to squirm his legs away from every atttempt. i also noticed that Dan kept on tapping his right hand which looked like he was saying to Palhares that, come here and get a load of this fist. hehehehe congrats to Dan Hendo nice well thought of fight. ^_^

I totally agree. Rashad should fight Lyoto first before getting a shot at Forrest Griffin. I even think Machida actually is more deserving of a title shot than Rashad Evans. Anyhow yah I hate how he showboats too much too. He could do without it but I guess it's part of his "package: now fighter slash entertainer kuno. The UFC wants personalities and they clearly have one in Rashad Evans (now even more so after that KO win over the iceman).

What's next for Wanderlei?

He might be the next opponent of Machida... or victim, perhaps.

I have to say this, dahil hindi talaga ako makapaniwala... That Evans knocking-the-fu*k-out of The Iceman is the end of an era... The once-thought invincible Chuck has been exposed. Yesterday's fight is the changing-of-the-guard event for the UFC... Unti-unti nang mawawala yung mga oldies at maglalabasan na yung mga youngbloods. And if Corporate/Captain America will get the same thrashing from Brock, expect that the 35-ish in the UFC will get wiped-out.

I'snt Machida gonna fight Thiago Silva!? Well I never was a Iceman fan, and who thought Chuck was invincible?! I guess only UFCnuthuggers do coz Rampage whooped his Ass twice. Think his considering retirement already, better go out now kesa malaos pa sya and people starts to forget Him!? Baka mag ala Ken Shamrock sya!?! Huwag naman sana... :thumbsdownsmiley:

Forrest Griffin vs Rashad Evans UFC 92 fight now likely in December

What a difference one punch makes.

Rashad Evans delivered a blistering overhand right this weekend that had former light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell snoring in the center of the Octagon during the main event at UFC 88: “Breakthrough” at the Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.

It’s a shocking result that perhaps has company president Dana White and the rest of the executives at UFC headquarters on West Sahara Avenue crying in their corn flakes this morning.

That’s because Evans ruined a monster year-end pay-per-view (PPV) event on December 27, which had Liddell — the promotion’s biggest money-maker — all but guaranteed to face current 205-pound champion Forrest Griffin with a win over “Sugar.”

Not so fast, blockbuster.

Now it appears that Evans has earned that honor with one magical punch, setting up a bout between two champions from separate seasons of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, on New Year’s Eve weekend.

That’s a rather remarkable turn of events when you consider all the other “big name” draws in the loaded light heavyweight division, including Wanderlei Silva, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, Liddell, Lyoto Machida and Thiago Silva, among others.

But there really are no other options — all the fighters mentioned above (sans Machida and Silva) are either hurt or coming off losses. “The Dragon” is still at least one win away from title shot even though he may be the one most deserving and Silva would likely need another big win soon to justify leapfrogging either Machida or Evans.

Indeed, it’s a chain of events and circumstances that appeared unlikely as recently as of July 4 — the day before Griffin pulled off his own shocker, winning a unanimous decision to defeat Jackson for the 205-pound belt at UFC 86: “Jackson vs Griffin.”

It is a shame that in this society we've been taught to judge a man's worth by what he owns instead of who he is. Everything is surface, and so few look beyond it. A man will sell his soul, he will lie, cheat and steal, for money. If he has it, he can buy respect. Wear the right clothes, drive the right car, have the right friends, that's all that matters. Our lives are consumed in a selfish, self absorbed quest for possessions, the latest and the best in a never-ending cycle until the day we die. We forget what it means to be truly human. We forget the things that really matter. We lose the magic of what life should be.

I won't live by rules that make no sense to me.
